Pick-up will begin Monday at 7:00 AMRequirements for RUBBISH PICK-UPPlease do not put refuse out before 3:00 pm the Sunday prior to

April 6, June 8, August 10, and October 12.1. All residents living on private roads must have the

trash placed at the end of the road in a pile.2. Refuse must be limited to what two men can lift.3. Barrels with both ends cannot be picked up; land fills

will not accept them.4. All barrels, including barrels with trash in them, will be

taken. Any barrel or container too heavy for two men to pick up will not be taken.

5. Trash piles should be located within easy reach from the road, not 20 to 30 feet, for the convenience of the trash haulers.

6. All objects must be bagged or put in containers that will be picked up. No loose materials will be picked up.

7. Containers must be left at curbside and they will not be returned.

8. Old appliances will be picked up if they can be lifted by two men. No refrigerators, freezers or air conditioners unless refrigerants are removed by a professional and tagged. Remember... Appliances can be recycled.

9. NO YARD WASTE!10. NO BUILDING MATERIALS WILL BE PICKED UP11. NO TIRES WILL BE PICKED UP12. NO GARBAGE or container for food products will be

picked up.13. NO ROCKS, SAND, CONCRETE, RUBBLE OR DEAD

ANIMALS will be picked up.14. No motor oil or containers with liquids such as oil

based and latex paint. Cans with dried paint are acceptable if lids are removed.

15. No call backs will be made if refuse is placed after the truck has serviced your house.

17. Any item not picked up because of the above reasons must be taken off the curbside and stored out of sight by noon of the day following each pick-up.

Downtown Otsego to Receive Communications Planning Services

The Michigan Main Street Center @MSHDA announced today downtown Ot-sego will receive communications planningservice. Otsego was awarded this serviceafter a competitive application process latelast year. The communications planning,scheduled to be completed before 2016,will focus on audience, capacity, and cur-rent and potential resources to strengthenthe awareness of downtown Otsego andthe Otsego Main Street program. The totalservice is valued at $8,000.

The service is provided by the MichiganMain Street Center @ MSHDA (MMS)through their partnership with the NationalMain Street Center. National experts will beworking with MMS staff and the local com-munity to provide custom community devel-opment strategies for Otsego Main Street.

“This is one of the many great benefits ofbeing a Main Street community,” said MollyWieber, Main Street Manager for OtsegoMain Street. “This communication planningprocess is going to be instrumental in help-ing us set our long-term goals and will pro-vide us with the key steps we need toachieve them.”

The service is part of a menu of servicesprovided to downtown Otsego since be-coming a Select Main Street community in2013. Other services provided by MichiganMain Street include the retail and res - idential market study in 2014, and baselineassessment in 2013.

She always lovedmusic and played many instruments with-out ever having a lesson or learning toread music. In her early years, beforeWWII, she and Richard formed a bandand played country music at the OtsegoGrange Hall. Betty had worked as an aideat Alamo Nursing Home and had alsodriven bus for Otsego Public Schools atAlamo Valley School. She loved doingcrafts, gardening, camping, raising herfive children and later spending time withher eight grandchildren. Surviving are herchildren, Janice Gerhart, Sherry (Donald)Hurlbut and Richard Meacham; seven ofher eight grandchildren; 15 great-grand-children and 8 great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her par-ents; husband, Richard; two daughters,Bonnie Esman and Karen Clingan; agranddaughter, Tammie Moorlag and herhusband, Joe; daughter-in-law, Sharon;sons-in law, Harvey and Bob and by alltwelve of her siblings. high school Tom worked at Menasha for24 ½ years as a senior bulldozer operatoruntil they closed. He was currently em-ployed at Perrigo for the past 6 years. Tomwas a member of the Order of the Arrowand was also an Eagle Scout. He enjoyedfishing, hunting, camping, and being out-side. He was excellent at smoking foodand was well known for his fish fries andchili cook-offs. Tom loved spending timewith his family especially his grandsons,he also loved fishing with his wife anddog. On June 4, 1983 at the Martin UnitedMethodist Church he married Betsy, alsosurviving are his children, James (Cora)Lutes and Jesse (Joseph) Lechner bothstationed with the US Navy in Norfolk, VA;3 grandchildren, Clayton “CJ” Lutes,Joseph Lechner, Jaxon Lechner and an-other due soon; his twin sister TammyLutes of Holland, along with severalnieces and grand-nieces. Althea enjoyedantiquing and glass collectables. On July24, 1937 in Battle Creek she marriedRalph Hoover who died in 1999.
