Saturday March 24, 2018 4 DISTRICTS STATE TIMES NEWS R S PURA: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary on Friday said the government has taken various path breaking initia- tives for providing basic amenities to the people at their doorsteps and special stress is being laid on improving road connectivity in rural and far-flung areas of the state. The minister was speaking after he started the black- topping works on 3.5 km long road from BSF Post Abdullian to Bidhipur to be executed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.06 crore under BADP. Highlighting the impor- tance of road network in the area, the Minister said that the stretch would provide relief to the locals of Chandu Chak and its adjoining areas besides improving the econo- my of the area . He also highlighted the other developmental initia- tives underway in the State and said that the concerned executing agencies have been directed to ensure time bound completion of the works with strict adherence to the quality norms .He also exhorted upon the people to actively partake in the devel- opmental process to achieve tangible results on ground. Focus on improving road connectivity in rural areas: Sham PHE Minister Sham Choudhary starting blacktopping works on Abdullian to Bidhipur road. STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh on Friday inaugurated a Panchayat Ghar at village Kah of Tehsil Billawar which has been constructed by Rural Development Department with a cost of Rs. 22.50 lakh. After inaugurating the util- ity, the Deputy Chief Minister convened a public grievances redressal camps at Kah, Barota and Jasyal Galak villages and took stock of public issues. He interact- ed with several deputations to get first-hand account of their problems and demands. Dr. Singh assured that genuine issues would be con- sidered and redressed in a time bound manner. He directed the officers to look into all the issues raised by the people and initiate neces- sary steps for early redressal of the same. Dy CM directed ACD Kathua to prepare a DPR for construction of a culvert near Sherd Deity Shrine at Kah village and sanctioned Rs. 8 Lakh for the purpose. He said that a new road project has been sent to NABARD for Kah village while assuring that several road compensation cases will be disposed off at the earli- est. At Mandli, Dr Singh informed that Mandli has achieved 93 per cent target of making the area ODF and appealed all the stakeholders to synergize their efforts in achieving 100 per cent ODF target to realise the objective of SBM. He further stated that in Billawar constituency Rs. 11.91 Crore have been released to clear MGNRE- GA liabilities. Dy CM directed ADC Billawar to hold camps under PSGA in the first week of April at village Barota, Kah and other remote locations so that req- uisite certificates can be dis- tributed to people on assigned date and venue. He advised the villagers to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in and around their areas and construct IHHL for their own interest. Underscoring the impor- tance of Panchayati Raj institutions in development of rural areas, Dy CM said that Panchayat is the soul of a village and Gram Sabha has an important role in making Panchayats the vibrant units. At Jasyal Galak, Dy CM announced a 25KV transformer and a Community Centre. Earlier, Dr Singh inspect- ed the ongoing construction work on PHC at village Barota and instructed the officials to complete it in stipulated time frame. ADC Billawar Joginder Singh Rai, ACD Rajiv Khajuria, Tehsildars, BDOs and other district officers besides social activist Mamta Singh were present on the occasion. Dy CM convenes public grievances redressal camps Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh inaugurating Panchayat Ghar at village Kah of Tehsil Billawar. 244 stranded passengers airlifted STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Indian Air Force once again came for the rescue of the stranded civilians of Jammu and Kashmir State by air lift- ing 244 civil passengers on Mar 23, 2018 from Udhampur to Leh. Due to recent snow and cold waves in the entire northern areas of J&K a lot of civil- ians of Leh and Kargil sec- tor were stranded in Jammu and Udhampur . IAF operated its special aircraft IL-76 popularly Known as Gajraj to airlift civilians on requisition by J&K Government. Air Force Station, Udhampur was the staging base for this rescue activity. Special arrangements were made by Air Force Station Udhampur and District Administration Udhampur for Security and Marshalling of civilians which included Ladies and Children also, into the tech- nical area of Air Force. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Friday conducted a detailed review of up-gradation of public utilities in Jawahar Nagar town under the City Re-development plan. A team of administration headed by District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary along with SSP Yougal Manhas, ADC, AQ Mir, ACR Noor Alam, Exen, Tehsildar Rajouri and Municipal Committee officials visited the Jawahar Nagar area of town and inspected various roads and markets for expan- sion of roads and creation of parking places. People of Jawahar Nagar including Beopar Mandal, trade bodies and prominent citizens of the area warmly welcomed the initiative of district administration under City Re-development Plan and volunteered to remove all the structures existing on public roads and lanes for creation of better facilities. Administration informed the residents that three park- ing spots are being developed in the area including DIET complex, Cooperative com- plex and Irrigation premises which will accommodate 350- 400 vehicles. Locals were also informed about the deci- sion for installation of delin- eators from Panja Chowk to Chhaprian aimed for regula- tion of traffic in particular lanes to avoid traffic jams. Locals demanded construc- tion of road from Jawahar Nagar chowk to PHE com- plex. Structures involved in widening of alternate road from DIET complex to PHE complex including CMO office and a local school premises were also inspected by administration. Becoming active partici- pants of City Redevelopment Plan of administration, shop- keepers of Jawahar Nagar area volunteered to remove their structures from the drains and lanes of main road which already stands widened to stipulated width. DDC appreciated the peo- ple of Jawahar Nagar for providing a helping hand to the administration for imple- mentation of development programme and termed their voluntary action of approaching administration for such a step as exemplary. He assured the people that efforts will be taken in a time bound manner for providing better amenities to public in line with commitment of State Government for better public services delivery. It is to mention here that District Administration is initiating installation of delineators on various roads followed by yellow lining for parking and special recovery van has been procured for lifting wrongly parked vehi- cles. More than a dozen parking lots have also been approved for the town that will solve the problem of traffic conges- tion. Wife, paramour arrested for murdering husband STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: In a bizarre incident a wife and her paramour murdered her husband on intervening night of 21-22 March in her house at village Samleri in Udhampur. Sources dis- closed that both accused had hatched up a conspiracy and murdered the man with repeated hit by hard wooden stick. Coming in action Rehmbal Police expedite the investigation and arrested both accused. According to sources, a woman identified as Ritu Devi wife of Captain Singh and her paramour identified as Darshan Kumar hatched up a conspiracy to kill her husband. Sources said that both accused repeatedly hit victim with hard wood- en stick and killed him. After killing, they buried dead body far off near a Nallah. Some passerby notice suspicious move- ment of both and immediately informed police. Coming in action Rehmbal Police led by SHO Sanjeev Singh Chib under the supervision of Dy.SP Kameshwar Puri rushed to the spot and took woman to police station for questioning. During investigation woman disclosed the whole story of conspiracy and also arrested her paramour involved in mur- der. Police on the basis of investigation expedited process of investigation and took FSL expert team and gathered the circumstantial evidences and also recovered stick used in offence. Police exhumed body and shifted to District Hospital Udhampur where a team of doctors performed autopsy and handed over the body to family members. Rehmabl Police has registered a case under section vide FIR No. 38/2018 under section 302 CrPC. 17 bovines rescued, smuggler flees STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Police on Friday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 17 bovines however smuggler managed to flee from the spot. According to a report, on an information, a team of police station Ghagwal led by Amit Singh Andotra laid a Naka on Jammu Pathankot National Highway near Tapyal and inter- cepted a truck (JK02AE- 1552) which was coming from Kathua side. During search, police found 17 bovines laden in it which were rescued , however driver of the vehicle managed to escape from spot. A case vide FIR No 51/2018 under section 88 RPC 2/3 PCA Act was registered in Ghagwal Police Station. Man held with 70 pouches of liquor STATE TIMES NEWS MENDHAR: Police on Friday nabbed a bootlegger and recovered 70 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession in Mendhar. As per the details, District Special Branch along with a police team head- ed by SHO Mendhar Mohd Amin under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar Reyaz Tantray intercepted a man in Mendhar town and during frisking, 70 pouches of liquor were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Rajinder Kumar son of Lal Chand resident of Ari Mendhar and a case under relevant sections has been registered in Police Station Mendhar. 650 Kgs of Lahan destroyed STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Excise Department on Friday destroyed 650kgs of Lahan during different raids carried out against illicit liquor in Excise Range Kathua. On the directions of the Excise Commissioner Mohd. Javed Khan and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Syed Muried Hussain Shah, the Excise Team Kathua led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Vikas Anand, Inspector Excise Sanjeev Khajuria, SI Amit Sharma along with Excise Guards Rajinder Singh, Akeel Ahmed, Balbir Singh , Samsher Dev and Mohd. Ramzan raided the Jarai, Kangrayal, Banyari and Birso Chak areas of Kathua District to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor. In the process more than 650 Kgs of Lahan, raw material of illicit liquor was recovered by the raiding team from state land and later destroyed on spot. STATE TIMES NEWS BILLAWAR: Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Former Minister and senior Congress Leader on Friday said that present BJP- PDP Government is a big failure of Modi's experiment on Jammu and Kashmir. He said that BJP Government at Centre also failed to come up to the expectation of the people of country as well as the State in four years of his gov- ernance. UDHAMPUR: In a bizarre incident a wife and her paramourmurdered her husband on intervening night of 21-22 Marchin her house at village Samleri in Udhampur. Sources dis-closed that both accused had hatched up a conspiracy andmurdered the man with repeated hit by hard wooden stick.Coming in action Rehmbal Police expedite the investigationand arrested both accused.

According to sources, a woman identified as Ritu Devi wifeof Captain Singh and her paramour identified as DarshanKumar hatched up a conspiracy to kill her husband. Sourcessaid that both accused repeatedly hit victim with hard wood-en stick and killed him. After killing, they buried dead bodyfar off near a Nallah. Some passerby notice suspicious move-ment of both and immediately informed police. Coming inaction Rehmbal Police led by SHO Sanjeev Singh Chib underthe supervision of Dy.SP Kameshwar Puri rushed to the spotand took woman to police station for questioning.

During investigation woman disclosed the whole story ofconspiracy and also arrested her paramour involved in mur-der. Police on the basis of investigation expedited process ofinvestigation and took FSL expert team and gathered thecircumstantial evidences and also recovered stick used inoffence. Police exhumed body and shifted to District HospitalUdhampur where a team of doctors performed autopsy andhanded over the body to family members. Rehmabl Police hasregistered a case under section vide FIR No. 38/2018 undersection 302 CrPC.

SAMBA: Police on Friday foiled a bovine smuggling bid byrescuing 17 bovines however smuggler managed to flee fromthe spot.

According to a report, on an information, a team of policestation Ghagwal led by Amit Singh Andotra laid a Naka onJammu Pathankot National Highway near Tapyal and inter-cepted a truck (JK02AE- 1552) which was coming fromKathua side.

MENDHAR: Police on Friday nabbed a bootlegger andrecovered 70 pouches of illicit liquorfrom his possession in Mendhar.

As per the details, District SpecialBranch along with a police team head-ed by SHO Mendhar Mohd Aminunder the supervision of SDPOMendhar Reyaz Tantray intercepted aman in Mendhar town and duringfrisking, 70 pouches of liquor wererecovered from his possession.

Ramzan raidedthe Jarai, Kangrayal, Banyari and Birso Chak areas of KathuaDistrict to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.

In the process more than 650 Kgs of Lahan, raw material ofillicit liquor was recovered by the raiding team from state landand later destroyed on spot.
