STATE TIMES NEWS R S PURA: Minister forPHE, Irrigation and FloodControl Sham LalChoudhary on Friday saidthe government has takenvarious path breaking initia-tives for providing basicamenities to the people attheir doorsteps and specialstress is being laid onimproving road connectivityin rural and far-flung areasof the state.

The minister was speakingafter he started the black-topping works on 3.5 kmlong road from BSF PostAbdullian to Bidhipur to beexecuted at an estimatedcost of Rs. 1.06 crore underBADP.

Highlighting the impor-tance of road network in thearea, the Minister said thatthe stretch would providerelief to the locals of ChanduChak and its adjoining areasbesides improving the econo-

my of the area .He also highlighted the

other developmental initia-tives underway in the Stateand said that the concernedexecuting agencies have beendirected to ensure time

bound completion of theworks with strict adherenceto the quality norms .He alsoexhorted upon the people toactively partake in the devel-opmental process to achievetangible results on ground.

STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Deputy ChiefMinister, Dr Nirmal Singhon Friday inaugurated aPanchayat Ghar at villageKah of Tehsil Billawar whichhas been constructed byRural DevelopmentDepartment with a cost ofRs. 22.50 lakh.

After inaugurating the util-ity, the Deputy ChiefMinister convened a publicgrievances redressal campsat Kah, Barota and JasyalGalak villages and took stockof public issues. He interact-ed with several deputationsto get first-hand account oftheir problems and demands.

Dr. Singh assured thatgenuine issues would be con-sidered and redressed in atime bound manner. Hedirected the officers to lookinto all the issues raised bythe people and initiate neces-sary steps for early redressalof the same.

Dy CM directed ACDKathua to prepare a DPRfor construction of a culvert

near Sherd Deity Shrine atKah village and sanctionedRs. 8 Lakh for the purpose.He said that a new roadproject has been sent toNABARD for Kah villagewhile assuring that severalroad compensation cases willbe disposed off at the earli-est.

244 stranded passengers airlifted

STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Indian AirForce once again came forthe rescue of the strandedcivilians of Jammu andKashmir State by air lift-ing 244 civil passengers onMar 23, 2018 fromUdhampur to Leh. Due torecent snow and cold wavesin the entire northernareas of J&K a lot of civil-ians of Leh and Kargil sec-tor were stranded inJammu and Udhampur .IAF operated its specialaircraft IL-76 popularlyKnown as Gajraj to airliftcivilians on requisition byJ&K Government.

Air Force Station,Udhampur was the stagingbase for this rescue activity.Special arrangements weremade by Air Force StationUdhampur and DistrictAdministration Udhampurfor Security andMarshalling of civilianswhich included Ladies andChildren also, into the tech-nical area of Air Force.

STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: DeputyCommissioner Rajouri,Shahid Iqbal Choudhary onFriday conducted a detailedreview of up-gradation ofpublic utilities in JawaharNagar town under the CityRe-development plan.

A team of administrationheaded by DistrictDevelopment CommissionerDr Shahid Iqbal Choudharyalong with SSP YougalManhas, ADC, AQ Mir, ACRNoor Alam, Exen, TehsildarRajouri and MunicipalCommittee officials visitedthe Jawahar Nagar area oftown and inspected variousroads and markets for expan-sion of roads and creation ofparking places.

People of Jawahar Nagarincluding Beopar Mandal,trade bodies and prominentcitizens of the area warmlywelcomed the initiative ofdistrict administration underCity Re-development Planand volunteered to remove allthe structures existing on

public roads and lanes forcreation of better facilities.

Administration informedthe residents that three park-ing spots are being developedin the area including DIETcomplex, Cooperative com-plex and Irrigation premiseswhich will accommodate 350-400 vehicles. Locals werealso informed about the deci-sion for installation of delin-eators from Panja Chowk toChhaprian aimed for regula-tion of traffic in particularlanes to avoid traffic jams.Locals demanded construc-

tion of road from JawaharNagar chowk to PHE com-plex.

Structures involved inwidening of alternate roadfrom DIET complex to PHEcomplex including CMOoffice and a local schoolpremises were also inspectedby administration.

Becoming active partici-pants of City RedevelopmentPlan of administration, shop-keepers of Jawahar Nagararea volunteered to removetheir structures from thedrains and lanes of main

road which already standswidened to stipulated width.

DDC appreciated the peo-ple of Jawahar Nagar forproviding a helping hand tothe administration for imple-mentation of developmentprogramme and termed theirvoluntary action ofapproaching administrationfor such a step as exemplary.

He assured the people thatefforts will be taken in a timebound manner for providingbetter amenities to public inline with commitment ofState Government for betterpublic services delivery.

It is to mention here thatDistrict Administration isinitiating installation ofdelineators on various roadsfollowed by yellow lining forparking and special recoveryvan has been procured forlifting wrongly parked vehi-cles.

More than a dozen parkinglots have also been approvedfor the town that will solvethe problem of traffic conges-tion.

Wife, paramour arrestedfor murdering husbandSTATE TIMES NEWS

UDHAMPUR: In a bizarre incident a wife and her paramourmurdered her husband on intervening night of 21-22 Marchin her house at village Samleri in Udhampur. Sources dis-closed that both accused had hatched up a conspiracy andmurdered the man with repeated hit by hard wooden stick.Coming in action Rehmbal Police expedite the investigationand arrested both accused.

According to sources, a woman identified as Ritu Devi wifeof Captain Singh and her paramour identified as DarshanKumar hatched up a conspiracy to kill her husband. Sourcessaid that both accused repeatedly hit victim with hard wood-en stick and killed him. After killing, they buried dead bodyfar off near a Nallah. Some passerby notice suspicious move-ment of both and immediately informed police. Coming inaction Rehmbal Police led by SHO Sanjeev Singh Chib underthe supervision of Dy.SP Kameshwar Puri rushed to the spotand took woman to police station for questioning.

During investigation woman disclosed the whole story ofconspiracy and also arrested her paramour involved in mur-der. Police on the basis of investigation expedited process ofinvestigation and took FSL expert team and gathered thecircumstantial evidences and also recovered stick used inoffence. Police exhumed body and shifted to District HospitalUdhampur where a team of doctors performed autopsy andhanded over the body to family members. Rehmabl Police hasregistered a case under section vide FIR No. 38/2018 undersection 302 CrPC.

SAMBA: Police on Friday foiled a bovine smuggling bid byrescuing 17 bovines however smuggler managed to flee fromthe spot.

According to a report, on an information, a team of policestation Ghagwal led by Amit Singh Andotra laid a Naka onJammu Pathankot National Highway near Tapyal and inter-cepted a truck (JK02AE- 1552) which was coming fromKathua side.

During search, police found 17 bovines laden in it whichwere rescued , however driver of the vehicle managed toescape from spot. A case vide FIR No 51/2018 under section88 RPC 2/3 PCA Act was registered in Ghagwal PoliceStation.

Man held with 70 pouches of liquor STATE TIMES NEWS

MENDHAR: Police on Friday nabbed a bootlegger andrecovered 70 pouches of illicit liquorfrom his possession in Mendhar.

As per the details, District SpecialBranch along with a police team head-ed by SHO Mendhar Mohd Aminunder the supervision of SDPOMendhar Reyaz Tantray intercepted aman in Mendhar town and duringfrisking, 70 pouches of liquor wererecovered from his possession.

He has been identified as Rajinder Kumar son of LalChand resident of Ari Mendhar and a case under relevantsections has been registered in Police Station Mendhar.

KATHUA: Excise Department onFriday destroyed 650kgs of Lahanduring different raids carried outagainst illicit liquor in Excise RangeKathua.

Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Syed Muried Hussain Shah,the Excise Team Kathua led by ETO Excise Range Kathua,Vikas Anand, Inspector Excise Sanjeev Khajuria, SI AmitSharma along with Excise Guards Rajinder Singh, AkeelAhmed, Balbir Singh , Samsher Dev and Mohd. Ramzan raidedthe Jarai, Kangrayal, Banyari and Birso Chak areas of KathuaDistrict to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.

In the process more than 650 Kgs of Lahan, raw material ofillicit liquor was recovered by the raiding team from state landand later destroyed on spot.

STATE TIMES NEWS BILLAWAR: Dr Manohar LalSharma, Former Minister andsenior Congress Leader onFriday said that present BJP-PDP Government is a big failureof Modi's experiment on Jammuand Kashmir. He said that BJPGovernment at Centre also failedto come up to the expectation ofthe people of country as well asthe State in four years of his gov-ernance.

Dr Sharma while interactingwith the people of areas said thatthe BJP-PDP Govt. is a totalfailure in all fronts of develop-mental activities, giving justice tocommon men, in generatingemployment opportunities, fight-ing against terrorism, keepingcheck on corruption, maintain-ing law and order includingrestoring peace in the State andsimilar is the position of Modi'sGovt. in Centre. He said that thepresent chaos in State is a resultof coalition failure which is ulti-mately gifted to us by Modi.

Dr Sharma launching ascathing attack on BJP-PDPcoalition for prevailing mess anduncertainty in State, regrettedthat during the last three years,the present regime has spoiledthe peaceful atmosphere whichwas achieved by the previousgovernment. He further saidthat what is happening after theformation of PDP-BJP coalitionin 2015 is that they have crossedall limits in corruption in every

field of public life and brazenlyeroded sanctity and credibility ofdemocratic institutions throughtheir deceitful tactics.

Dr Sharma Said that it is veryunfortunate that Nirmal KumarSingh is only inaugurating oldcompleted projects of previousgovernment on one hand, but onthe other hand, he alwaysremained busy in criticising pre-vious regime for non perform-ance.

Dr Sharma accused BJP andNirmal Singh for complete fail-ure to initiate or start a singlenew project for the welfare ofpeople living in Billawar till dateexcept inaugurating previouslycompleted building of primaryand middle schools, tar coal on ablack topping roads and smallbridges/culverts, but Dy CMalways show dream of big proj-ects for Billawar. He questionedwill the Dy CM tell the peopleabout fate of big projects evenafter more than two years inpower ?

R.C Raina, Dy Director FireServices was the GuestSpeaker on the occasion.Ashok Kumar in his inauguraladdress welcomed R.C. Rainaand his team for visiting PTTIVijaypur to share his experi-ences on fire safety and exhibit-ing fire safety drill.

Raina, while addressing thegathering, explained about thefire safety norms and ways toextinguish various types offires.

He also shared his knowledgeof handling of fire fightingequipments and other meansof fire fighting so that in case ofany fire incident police person-nel are able to take preventivemeasures. He said keeping inview of availability of adequatecombustible material at workplaces and houses, the knowl-
