41st Annual UPC Student Photography Contest 2015 CONTEST RULES Photographs may be entered to the William T. Kemper Art Gallery, first floor, K- State Student Union between 9:30am-12:30pm on Oct. 1 and between 3:30pm-5 on Oct. 2. If you can’t make it to these intake times, please contact the UPC office at (785) 532-6571 to make other arrangements prior to entry date. 1) Photographs may be in color, black and white, digitally altered, or any other reasonable facsimile of photography. 2) Any photographs which have previously been entered in this contest will not be admissible. 3) No more than five (5) entries may be submitted per person. Each entry must be accompanied by a $3 entry fee (cash or check made out to UPC). 4) Each entry must be no smaller than 8 inches by 10 inches (NOT including frame) and no larger than 24 inches by 36 inches framed. Each photo must NOT contain matte or border. 5) Each entry must be framed with a glass or Plexiglas front. The photograph must be surrounded by wood, plastic, or metal framing. There must be a professional (not homemade) hanging device (i.e. wire, metal hanger) on the back of each piece. 6) Only single photos may be entered. Each photograph is considered and judged as one entry, even if there are a group of photos that go together as a grouping. 7) In order to enter you must be a current K-State student who is considered an amateur photographer (does not earn a living through photography). Your student status will be checked prior to judging. 8) If any piece is disqualified and you’ve signed off on the rules, you will not receive a refund. Refunds are issued at the discretion of the UPC Arts Co- Chairs. 9) Entries will be judged by judges who will remain anonymous. Judging is to be based on technical quality, visual design, originality, and overall presentation. No judge will be allowed to submit a photo to be judged or judge a photo where they have a personal interest. The decision of the judges is final. 10) First place will receive $100 Cat Cash gift card and a chance to sell and permanently place their winning photo in the Little Theatre Lobby. Second place will be $75 and third place will be $50. A special category (one winner) will be honored for “Student’s Choice.” The winner will receive a K-State fan package. The winner will be chosen by student vote (one vote per student). 11) You will receive notification of the winners by an email or by viewing k- state.edu/upc on Monday, October 19.

12) All entries will need to be picked up on Oct. 23 from 5-6:30pm in the William T. Kemper Art Gallery OR in the UPC office in 301 K-State Student Union from 8am-5pm sometime October 26-30. If they are not picked up by 5pm Oct. 30, they will become property of UPC.

13) The K-State Student Union and the Union Program Council are not responsible for loss or damage to entries. All reasonable precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of the photographs.

I understand and agree to abide by the rules and regulations put forth in this document. I agree that the photos I have submitted are my own original work. I further understand that the UPC Arts Committee reserves the right to remove photographs from the Photography Contest at any point in the process (collection, storage, judging, showcasing) if it is found to be in violation of the official contest rules. I agree that I have permission to the subject(s) of my photographs to display their image(s). Each piece of art will be insured at the value indicated below (not to exceed $100 per piece unless discussed with a UPC Advisor first) during the course of the exhibit. I understand that if I win I may be offered to permanently display my photograph in the K-State Student Union and given a chance to sell and permanently place their winning photo in the Little Theatre Lobby. (You only need to fill out this form once.)
