Leadership qualities and the fruit of the spirit

• Fruit resulted from planted seeds• When seeds grow, they bear fruit• Fruit presents outward, visible

behaviour• Galatians 5: 22,23



Evaluate yourself against the fruit of the spirit

1. Love. Is my leadership motivated by love for people?




2. Joy. Do I exhibit an unshakable joy, regardless of

circumstances?



Evaluate yourself against the fruit of the spirit3. Peace. Do people see my

inward peace and take courage?



Evaluate yourself against the fruit of the spirit4. Longsuffering: Do I want

patiently for results as I develop people or goals?




5. Kindness: Am I caring and understanding toward everyone

I meet?




6. Goodness: Do I want the best for others and the

organisation?




7. Faithfulness: have I kept my commitment to the mission?




8. Gentleness: Is my strength under control? Can I be both

tough and tender?




9. Self-control: Am I disciplined to make progress toward my

goal?



The qualities of a spiritual leader. 1 Tim. 3: 2-13

Blameless:Are you quick to improve those aeas

that can damage your integrity?




Husband of one wife:Are you loving your wife as

Christ loved the church?




Temperate, sober-minded, of good behaviour:

Are you master of yourself, that you are a servant of many?




Hospitable:Do you exhibit a warm and

welcoming spirit?




Able to teach:Do you

consistently help others learn and become better

disciples?




Not violent, not quarrelsome:Do you have an approachable

disposition that brings peace and healing?




Not greedy, not convetous:Are you allowing your leadership to

be controlled by the rich?




Rules your own house well:Do you manage your own family

befire you try to manage the church?




Not a novice:Are you a seasoned, sold example for both insiders and outsiders?

The key here is: verse 10 leaders should be tested before

given an official position

The preparation of a leader: 1 Tim. 3: 1-13




• 1. Salvation: Leadership is planted as a seed.




•2. Call: Leadership begins to sprout




•3. Preparation: leadership is tested as a plant•4. Position: ledearship matures and bear fruit




•If anyone aspires to be a leader, he aspires to a noble task.•To have the gifts and qualities and not take on ledarship positions, may be disobedience.•The desire, however, must be accompanied by discipline.

• 1. A teacher: A leader is to be reproductive.

• 2. A soldier: A leader is to be loyal.

• 3. An athlete: a leader is to be disciplined.

• 4. A farmer: A leader is to be a hard woker.

• 5. A worker: A leader is to be diligent.

• 6. A vesel: A leader is to be pure.

• 7. A servant: A leader is to be submissive.



Prayer Focus• Father, In the name of Jesus, I

surrender myself to walk in the Word. Your word living in me produces the Life in this world.

• The word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It makes my way plain before me.

• I boldly and confidently say that my heart is fixed and established on the solid foundation – the Living Word of God! Amen
