Dear Parents and Guardians,

During the school year, we recognize student efforts in becoming good citizens by giving out “PALS” to those who display positive qualities. We use our “PAL’ing Around Days” and our “All School Assemblies” throughout the year to take time and celebrate our students for the positive actions and decisions they make here at school. We believe it is important to take that time and celebrate our achievements with one another in order to build a close-knit community. As a professional learning community, the staff members at Prairieview have the opportunity to recognize their colleagues each week by awarding them a FISH (an acknowledgement of a job well done). May 7th begins Teacher Appreciation Week, and we take this time, as an entire school community, to honor all of our staff members that go above and beyond to make Prairieview a special place for kids.

Throughout the year your kind words and notes let our teachers know how much you appreciate their efforts. While we are always proud of our dedicated staff, during this week we place special emphasis on celebrating and honoring them. If you have experienced an exceptional act of service by a Prairieview staff member, please take the time this week to let them know. A simple note highlighting your teacher’s special qualities could make a staff member’s day, even their year!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all of the staff members in Community Consolidated School District #46! Also, a special thank you to all our parents for being partners in your child’s education.

Estimados Padres y/o Encargados,

Sinceramente,

Vince Murray Principal

If you would like to consider this position, please get in touch with Kristi James at [email protected] or Melanie Bruce at [email protected] for more info!

Our last Family Dinner Night of the year is coming up at Dog ‘n Suds on Wednesday, May 23rd. We hope you will join us once more this school year for an evening of good company and delicious drive-in fare!

Discovery Day

Discovery Day was held today, and we hope all of the students had a great time! A lot of hard work went into planning the event, and we would like to thank Jennifer Richard for doing such a great job in chairing the Discovery Day event! Also, thank you to Diana Baldez for coordinating the Discovery Day t-shirts, Amy Vagnoni for coordinating the kindergarten events, and Tina Coleman and Kristi James for coordinating the presenter/volunteer lunch. We can’t thank enough the many parents who joined as presenters and volunteers or baked cupcakes for the Cake Boss session!! Finally, many businesses and organizations donated their time to make this day special for the kids at Prairieview – please see the attached flyer for a list of those that donated their time and resources – and if you happen to frequent their businesses or see them around, be sure to thank them! If you would like any additional information about any of the businesses or organizations that presented sessions today, please get in touch with Jennifer Richard at [email protected] or Melanie Bruce at [email protected] .

WE ALL HAD A REALLY GREAT TIME AT DISCOVERY DAY TODAY!

First of all, we want to thank all of the individuals from local businesses/organizations who donated their time and resources to make such a

memorable day for our students. We were fortunate to have the following businesses/organizations participating today:

And thank you to Enopi for donating the bags that the students used to collect things throughout the day!

A very special thank you to the parents, teachers, and friends who put together such great sessions for the students to participate in today! The effort all of you gave for

this day really showed.

Finally, thank you to all of the volunteers (including cupcake bakers!) who took time out of your busy schedules to help make this a fun and special day for all of our

students! This day would not be possible without the involvement of our Prairieview parents! And if you missed out on all the fun this year, we look forward to having you

join us next year!
