This past June, Alphabet, the superior to Google held itsextensive annual shareholder meeting. Perhaps, one of themore interesting items on the agenda was a discussion of thenewest tech innovations that Executive Chairman EricSchmidt believes will hit the market in the next 5-10 years.

Although he is only one person, his reputation is backedheavily by the fact that he is part controller of one of the mostinnovative institutions in the history of the world. Here are 5things he had to say.

3D Printed StructuresJust as the buzz seems to be wearing off, Schmidtexpresses the significance of 3D printing and how it canbe utilized to cut the costs of construction and design. Heemphasized the fact of what could happen if the costs ofbuilding and designing structures could be cut down. Healso says that a void in the market will be filled, and thatbeing the fact that there are no publicly tradedcompanies that sell 3D printers. So be sure to be on thelookout for this breakthrough in the years movingforward.

Driverless CarsDriverless cars are already out there, but only for test runs.

They have already logged over a million miles, but theyhaven’t been introduced on a large scale. Schmidt saysthat in the coming years many other companies besidesAlphabet, will release the technology, and at this momentthey already have it developed. Driverless cars will hope topromote safer streets and better communities. The mainreasons behind their delayed launch is legislative, so thatis why it could take so long.

Educational Learning from MachinesSchmidt claims that the future of educationwill lie in machine learning. What is meant bythis, is that teachers will be using machines toteach children. This could bring morespecialized curriculums to students. Manytech giants like Alphabet have begun to put alarge emphasis on machine learning and willcontinue to do so. But, IBM is leading the wayin the introduction of machine learning, sothat should available be in the coming years.

Meat With No MeatWith increased health issues surrounding meat, Schmidtclaims that companies will use complex systems toutilize plants and other natural ingredients to establishfoods that are significantly similar to meat products.Impossible foods, a pioneer in this technology will leadthe way in the Meatless Burger so be on the lookout forthis food breakthrough in this coming year. Others willsoon follow.

Cheaper VRVirtual Reality is already on the market however, like any newtechnology it is fairly expensive. Schmidt claims that theefforts of Alphabet are targeting towards driving the cost of VRsets down to a reasonable range. He also mentions that VR willcontinue to grow and eventually take over as the newesttechnology trend and for Alphabet specifically, a revenuestream. Sony and Facebook notably have the first moveradvantage so Alphabet has some grounds to cover in terms ofmarket share.
