BBBAAATTTTTTAAALLLIIIOOONNN SSSTTTAAAFFFFFF NNNEEEWWWSSS::: 111222999777TTT HHH AAANNNDDD 111111777TTT HHH RRRIIIPPP /// TTTOOOAAA On May 7, 2012, the 1297th CSSB conducted a Relief in Place and the Transfer of Authority to the 117th CSSB. The ceremony is a tradition that signifies the transfer of authority from one Battalion to the next. The 117th will build on the success that the 1297th had while on KAF. Already, the unit has conducted the left seat / right seat process, during which the 1297th trained the 117th on the processes in place that have made this a successful deployment for the 1297th CSSB and the Battalion as a whole. HHC 117th is prepared and eager to continue these processes and work towards improving our foxhole. The 117th CSSB was fortunate to have such gracious counterparts that took the time and put forth the effort to work side by side with us, thereby ensuring the 117th would be successful following the TOA. The Soldiers of the 117th are ready for the challenges ahead. Move over Task Force Raven, Task Force Trenton is taking over.

HHHHHHCCC 111111777TTTHHH NNNEEEWWWSSS On May 5, 2012, the ISAF CSM, CSM Thomas Capel visited KAF. Upon arrival on KAF, the lead vehicle had maintenance issues that needed to be remedied with a quick turn around. CSM Capel’s MRAP was taken to HHC 117th where SSG Pedro Correa immediately started troubleshooting the vehicle. Under a strict timeline and with the help of SPC Stephanie Bautista, HHC 117th Maintenance was able to identify the problem, load the vehicle in our unit SAMSE System, order the parts and rectify the problem in time for CSM Capel to depart for his next mission. For their initiative and quick response time in fixing the fault, CSM Capel presented them with the NTMA CSM’s Coin. Both SSG Correa and SPC Bautista simply agreed that fixing vehicles for the war-fighter is just part of their job.
SPC STEPHANIE BAUTISTA AND SSG CORREA.

777888111SSSTTT TTTCCC NNNEEEWWWSSS May 24, 2012, CSM Hermenegildo Devarie visited 781ST TC motor pool while the soldiers performed recovery from the mission the night before to FOB Walton. Some of the soldiers of the 781st were ask what was the goal of their mission and how did they think they could perform the mission to the best of their ability. SPC Hayes said that the goal was to deliver multiclass items to different FOB’s and back to KAF. He also stated to succeed at their mission they had to be proficient on PMCS and driving the Palletized Load System (PLS) and MRAP in order to operate the convoy successfully without any issues. The hard work and dedication placed into meeting this goal encompasses extensive training for drivers, gunners, truck commanders, convoy commanders and assistant convoy commanders. The most important part of Recovery and PMCS is to inspect the equipment that will be a part of an upcoming convoy to ensure that all the trucks are ready for movement and fully mission capable.

At 1030 hours on 12 May 2012, the sun set on the 1484th Transportation Company and rose for the 1486th Transportation Company. The Transfer of Authority Ceremony celebrated the tremendous accomplishments of the 1484th and set the tone for the 1486th and their mission ahead. The 1486th Transportation Company out of Mansfield, Ohio is officially ready for the challenges and experiences that lay ahead. With the great handoff of Company operations that the 1486th received, they are certainly ready for anything that stands in their way. The 1486th has big shoes to fill but is stepping up to the plate and ready to show the 117th CSSB, the 45th SB, and JSCA that they will accomplish the mission.
PFC Sarah Grimes holding the 1486th guidon
1486th COMPANY COMMANDER’S CORNER For only being in Country for just under three weeks, the Company has accomplished so many things that will set everything up for the upcoming months of the deployment. The motivation and high esprit-de-corps, that all of the Soldiers have displayed throughout this transition, gives high hopes for the success of the Company for this rotation. CPT KEITH ZIEBER

ALWAYS
FORWARD!
Progress isn’t easy. Obstacles stand in your way.
You get tired of constantly working in the face of
adversity and austerity. Often times your work goes unnoticed or unappreciated.
Sometimes you are recognized, but that is not
why you strive so hard. You work because you are dedicated. You work
because it needs to get done. You lean forward and continue to march toward progress because to stand still is to lose ground. And finally, when you are done
and you lay your head down to rest, you know that you
have left it better than when you received it.
ROADMASTERS LEAD THE
WAY!

If you walk in to the Roadmaster’s Command Post in the evenings or perhaps on a Sunday afternoon, you are likely to find at least one Soldier sitting in front of a computer completing online College or Correspondence courses. The NCO’s of 25th Transportation Company have relentlessly pushed their subordinates to pursue education in order to further their careers, and it has paid off dramatically this month. Three Noncommissioned officers have been advanced to the rank of SSG, and three Soldiers have made the leap from lower enlisted to the Corps of the Noncommissioned officer when they were promoted to SGT. Each of these leaders reflect the tireless effort and constant emphasis to progress that is the backbone of the 25th Transportation Company. Every platoon and section was represented in the promotions, and every one of the promoted leaders made the cutoff due to their continued efforts to complete education while deployed.

TTTRRREEENNNTTTOOONNN 666 “From Trenton 6 Battle Space” Sustainers, on Tuesday, 29MAY12, TF TRENTON proudly affixed the 42nd Regional Support Group patch on its rightful place, and that is was the Right Shoulder Sleeve of our OPC Uniforms. It was a very proud day for the 117th CSSB, 42nd RSG and the NJARNG to say the least! All Sustainers are walking a little taller with proud chests and strong shoulders!
I have to tell you this is the greatest military experience of my career, and because of what our past formations accomplished with the 42nd DISCOM, the 50th PSB and the 50th IBCT, people really respect us. They know the professionalism that the New Jersey Army National Guard brings. I have seen a handful of Rainbow patches here and everyone is proud to have been a part of the 42nd ID and their accomplishments.
Make no mistake, this is Graduate level work we are currently engaged in by keeping the Sustainment through-put viable and sustaining the War Fighter. Members of the this command team have personally gotten out with our Sustainers of TF TRENTON on various Combat Logistical Patrols to meet the War Fighters that we support, to ensure them that we are here to PROVIDE for them so they surely do not PERISH. To date, they have not once said one bad thing about the level of support we are giving them. We are providing the RC (S/SW/E) Maneuver Commanders Freedom of Action unconstrained by Logistics! Now everyone knows the 117th CSSB's name and what we can provide. We are even doing Last Tactical Mile Sustainment Operations to some of the smaller FOBs and COBs in order to extend some of the Support Battalions' capabilities. And now the TF TRENTON Sustainers are the best in Afghanistan! I could not be any prouder of this formation in your professionalism and logistical knowledge.
I am proud of you and what you are accomplishing here across the southern battlefields of Afghanistan! Sustainers Forward . . . Provide or Perish!

TTTRRREEENNNTTTOOONNN 777 “From Trenton 7 Battle Space” Task Force Trenton, our first 30 days boots on the ground are gone, they went very fast as everyone became engaged in their assigned duties while conducting our right seat-left seat Relief In Place and Transfer of Authority with our counterparts from the 1297th CSSB. We proudly raised our New Jersey State Flag for the first time in Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan and proudly flies everyday representing New Jersey’s best. I am very proud of your accomplishments to date and how you have projected that New Jersey pride and professionalism at all times. We are now postured to provide the best support to the war fighter and to our subordinate units. Task Force Trenton is prepared to and will provide combatant commanders freedom of action unconstrained by logistics. I expect you to maintain constant communication with your loved ones back at home; let them know that we are taking care of each other and striving for mission success. There is no doubt in my mind that our organization will rise above the rest and will become a role model for those who follow; it’s our commitment. I want to express my sincere thanks to our FRG Team for their support and commitment to keep our families informed, and thank you for the care packages. My special thanks to the New Jersey Professional Firefighters for those beautiful T-Shirts, our Sustainers will wear them with pride and will send some pictures back home. TRENTON 7 OUT!!
