FROM FR. EHLI Dear Parishioners, I want to welcome seminarian Isaiah Fischer back to the Cathedral. He is a Cathedral parishioner, the son of Bernie and Annette Fischer. Isaiah will be spending time at the Cathedral this year, assisting the Cathedral clergy and staff and gaining pastoral experience. Read more about Isaiah inside this bulletin, and please don't hesitate to give him a warm welcome if you see him! I also want to extend a congratulations to seminarian Grant Dvorak who, along with Jake Magnuson, will be ordained to the transitional diaconate in Rome this Thursday. Grant is the son of Cathedral parishioners, Allan and Carolanne Dvorak. Please remember to pray for Isaiah, Grant, Jake, and all of the seminarians. I will be in Rome for the ordination and will be praying for you at the holy sites. On May 23, 2021, the Solemnity of Pentecost, Bishop Kagan issued his latest Pastoral Letter, ...Live a Life Worthy of the Calling You Have Received..., which is a beautiful invitation to evaluate and grow in our knowledge of the faith and to apply that knowledge to our daily lives. I encourage all of you to read it. We have copies available at the church entrances and at the parish office. At the end of the letter, Bishop Kagan proposes a list of essential questions to test our knowledge of the faith. Each week on the front page of this bulletin we will print one of Bishop Kagan's questions (see the "Know Your Catholic Faith" box below). The answer to the question will be located inside the bulletin, but do your best to try to answer the question without looking. Quiz yourself or your spouse or kids. I hope doing this will renew and strengthen your commitment to your faith! —In Christ, Fr. Ehli CLERGY Bishop .................................................................................... Introducing Seminarian Isaiah Fischer"My name is Isaiah John Fischer, and it is a privilege to be able to spend this year at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit with you all. My parents have been parishioners at the Cathedral since we moved to Bismarck in 2004. The Cathedral has been so influential as a parish family in handing on and nourishing the gift of faith in my life. When we arrived, I received my first taste of Catholic education here at our school. I am truly the home-grown fruit of the Cathedral! I graduated from St. Mary's High School in 2014 and transitioned to the University of Mary. After leaving the University of Mary, the Lord began to reawaken the desire for me to be His priest that was dormant for a time. In 2017 I was accepted into seminary for the Diocese of Bismarck and began to study in Washington, DC, at St. John Paul II Seminary. After three years in Washington, I was sent to the North American College in Rome to continue formation. After being in Rome last year, I was given the gift of being able to spend some more time in the diocese to continue to attentively listen to Jesus. Thank you for all your prayers and support for me and my brother seminarians throughout these years of formation. Your love for Jesus is truly edifying. Please know of my prayers for you as I also strive to grow in love even more with Jesus and His Church."
