Baptisms:

Arrangements must be made by parents through the Rectory Office to schedule baptisms and arrange for Pre-Baptism classes. All parents expecting to baptize their first child are to attend Pre-Baptism classes.

Weddings: Arrangements should be made with a priest through the Rectory Office at least six months prior to the desired date. All couples must attend Pre-Cana classes which are normally scheduled in March.

Funerals: Arrangements are made with the Rectory Office through the funeral director before publication in the newspapers.

ДУХОВНЕ ЗНАЧЕННЯ КВІТНОЇ НЕДІЛІ

Божу місію на землі Господь наш Ісус Христос завершив двома величними актами, якими є воскресення Лазаря і тріюмфальний в'їзд до Єрусалима. Ці дві події, свідками яких було багато людей, переконливо свідчили про Христове месіянське післанництво та Його божественність. Тріюмф тих двох світлих подій відчинив також браму до останнього акту драми Христового життя — Його мук і смерти. Жидівський народ хотів бачити свого Месію в силі і славі. Тож Ісус Христос воскресенням Лазаря і своїм тріюмфальним в'їздом до Єрусалима довів свою силу і славу. Прилюдно показав, що Він не тільки пан живої й мертвої природи, але й пан людських сердець. Такого тріюмфального походу Єрусалим уже давно не бачив. Це підкреслює святий євангелист Матей: "І коли Він увійшов у Єрусалим, заметушилося усе місто, питаючи: "Хто це такий?" Народ же казав: "Це пророк, Ісус із Назарету в Галилеї" (21, 10-11). Христова слава тривала коротко, бо за ним, наче тінь, уже йшла зрада Юди, зрада народу, ішла тінь осуду жидівською старшиною, тінь мук, хресної дороги і розп'яття. Ті самі, що сьогодні вигукують: "Осанна", — за кілька днів кричатимуть: "Розпни". Квітна неділя показує нам нестійкість людської слави та марність земного щастя. Радість і смуток на землі — це дві нерозлучні сестри. Тож, коли хочемо колись тріюмфувати з Христом у небі, мусимо спочатку тут, на землі, прожити з Ним страсний тиждень і Голготу. дні в тиждень: СЕРЕДА і ЧЕТВЕР. Продаж

вареників – четвер і п'ятниця з 8 години

ранку і до 1 години дня.

Ми будемо ліпити вареники в вівторок 27 березня,

(двотижнева перерва). В четвер 19 квітня кухня знову

Today our beloved Bishop Emeritus, Most Rev. Robert

M. Moskal and Rev. Msgr. Mitrat Archpriest John P.

Stevensky are celebrating the 55th Anniversary of their

Ordination to the Holy Priesthood. Archdeacon Jeffrey

Smolilo is celebrating his 27th Ordination Anniversary to the

Diaconate. We celebrate with them and thank them for the

В неділю 15 квітня в нашій парафії будемо мати збірку на

потреби гуманітарної місії в Україні під проводом Сестер

Василіянок, яку очолює сестра Анна Лашок. Місія

налічуватиме 14 волонтерів з штатів Огайо, Пенсильванія,

Ню – Йорк, Ілінойс і Орегон. Волонтери відвідають

сирітські будинки, а також будуть мати анломовні

катехитичні табори в Дрогобичі, Івано – Франківську і

Мукачево від 24 травня до 16 червня 2018 року.

Mistaken Identity

Upon entering Jerusalem, Jesus was festively wel-comed by the inhabitants who placed their cloaks before Him and shouted, "Hosanna, glory to the Son of David!" Yet, many of these same people would soon have a sudden change of heart toward Jesus. In less than one week's time they would shout again "crucify Him, crucify Him" as Jesus was handed over to Pontius Pilate for crucifixion.

The sudden change in attitude of many people toward

Jesus is not so surprising when it is recalled that many people had different expectations of Jesus. He Himself said, "My kingdom is not of this world." (John 18:36) Yet, it was the pop-ular opinion of many that the long-awaited Messiah would be a great military leader or revolutionary who would free the peo-ple from Roman oppression. They expected that Jesus would conquer the government; they did not realize that Jesus came to conquer death by His own death. In their disappointment they turned their hearts away from our Lord.

What are our expectations of God? Do we believe that

God is obliged to answer every one of our prayers and peti-tions according to our design? Why, then, can we become angry toward God when things in our life go unexpectedly? At these moments we need to shift from the satisfaction of our own will to submission to the will of God, for He knows our true needs even before we do. "Let all those rejoice who put their trust in the Lord! Let them forever shout for joy!"

(Psalm 5:12)

JULIA BLUE MOVIE

Our St. Josaphat School alumni, Roxy Toporowych, will be

showing her movie, Julia Blue, at the Cleveland International

Film Festival April 6, 8 and 9 in Tower City. Tickets available for

support Roxy by coming to see the film.

It is a love story that takes place in war-torn Ukraine and is a

reminder of the difficulties soldiers face when transitioning back

to normal life. It was filmed in Ukraine, in Ukrainian, but has

COLLECTION FOR HUMANITARIAN

MISSION TO UKRAINE

On Sunday, April 15th, in our parish, we will have a collection for

the needs of a humanitarian mission in Ukraine led by Sister Ann

Laszok, OSBM with Sister Joann Sosler, OSBM and 14

volunteers from Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois and

Oregon. Volunteers will visit orphan houses, and will also have

Englsih-language catechetical camps in Drohobych, Ivano-

Frankivsk and Mukachevo from 24th of June till 16th of June

2018.

BOOK PRESENTATION

The Ukrainian Catholic Education Foundation, in cooperation

with the Ukrainian Catholic University, invites you to

attend the book presentation of Rev. Fr Bohdan Prach, PhD,

Rector of UCU: “The Clergy of the Peremyshl Eparchy and the

Apostolic Administration of Lemkivshchyna. Vol 1: Biographical

The parish needs your help. We ask all parishioners

who have the time, to donate a few hours to help our

parish with our pyrohy project. We will be pinching on

Wednesdays and Thursdays during the Lenten season, from

7:00 AM. Our pyrohy sales hours are: Thursdays & Fridays,

from 8AM until 1PM. We graciously THANK our dedicated

workers who donate their time and efforts each week to our

Cathedral pyrohy project.

We will be pinching pyrohy on Tuesday, March 27th, selling on

Tuesday and Wednesday, March 27th and March 28th.

Pyrohy Sales will be closed for a two week break from

Thursday, March 29th to April 13th.

The kitchen will re-open on Thursday, April 19th, 2018.

PARISH EASTER DINNER

Our St. Josaphat Parish Easter Dinner will take place

on Sunday, April 8th at 12:30 PM. Traditional Easter

food and a hot meal will be served. You may purchase

tickets at the rectory office Monday through Friday during

regular business hours. The last day to purchase tickets is

Thursday, April 5th.

Tickets will be sold at the Palm Sunday Bake Sale, March 24th

and 25th. Tickets are $25. each.

ьогодні ми святкуємо празник Благовіщення Пречистої Богородиці і Діви Марії. В цей день

згадується подія, що стала знаменою в історії нашого спасіння. Святий Іван Золотоустий називає

Благовіщення першим празником і коренем всіх інших празників тому, що без нього не було б інших свят, не

здійснилось би спасіння всього людського роду.

лово Благовіщення від старословянської мови, означає благу, радісну новину. І сама назва свята вказує на

щось особливе, ніколи раніше не чуте, радісне вітання, яке пролунало тільки один раз у світовій історії. Ця

радісна вістка була сповіщенна Архангелом Гавриїлом молодій Діві Марії. Він сказав їй, що від неї народиться

Спаситель Син Божий, який вічно царює на небі і який буде Царем над всіми віруючими благочестивими людьми.

речистій Діві Марії було сповіщено про спасіння всього людства. Кожний із нас, християн, після щирої

молитви і по невимовній Благодатті і волі Божій, може прийняти Благу вість про спасіння своєї власної душі.

Роздумаймо… ? Якою є наша відповідь Богові? Чи ми готові прийняти волю Божу цілковито, без застережень,

як прийняла її Пречиста Діва Марія?

oday we celebrate the feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, the Blessed Virgin Mary. This event, which has changed

the history of humankind, marks the beginning of our salvation. It commemorates the announcement by the Archangel Gabriel

to the Virgin Mary that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Son of God, would become incarnate and enter into this world

through her womb.

n this Feast we commemorate both the divine initiative of God, whereby He took on flesh from the Virgin for our

salvation, and the human response, whereby Mary freely accepted the vocation offered to her. He chose to become man, and He

desired to do this with the willing agreement of her whom He chose as His mother. Mary could have refused, for she was not a

passive instrument, but an active participant with a free and positive part to play in God’s plan for our salvation. Thus, when on

this and other feasts the Church honors the Theotokos, the Mother of God, it is not just because God chose her, but also because

she herself chose to follow His will, saying yes to God. The blessed Virgin Mary is an example and inspiration for us as we

strive to say yes to God daily and follow His will.
