A rev iew of liter ature of phytoeffective metabolites of A lternaria is presented. 38 che micallyknown metab olites with deriva tes wer e named. Further t he re are 4 phytotoxi c systems of A lternaria st rains of t hes e chemical character ist ic are unknown. Dates of lit erature wer e collected andlis ted ab out A lternaria .m etabolite -producer, metabolit e sensit ive organisms with disease symp t om s, conditions of cult ure for biosynthesis and methodi c fu nda mental s of isola tion and detect ion in biotes t and chem ica l nature of Alternaria metabolit es.

Di e Pilzgattung A lternaria NEES ex WALLR. ist im Vorkommen ein t ypischer Besied ler von Pflanzen, wob ei sowohl intakte Ganzpflanzen a m Stando rt a ls a uc h pfl anzlieh e Ernteprodukte , wie Gct re idek6rn er, Heu und Si lage, als Suhstrate di en en konnen,Es zeichnen s ich viele Alternaria-Xrten als faknltative P arasitcn a ils und lassen sichdeshalh relativ einfac h a uf Nahrrnedien kultivieren .
Die Toxizita t von Sto ffwec hse lp rod uk ten del' Alternaria-Arten konnte h inreichendna chgewiesen werden , nich t nul' gegeniiber Pflanzen, sonde rn au ch gegen tibe r anderenOrganism en. So ist di e Antibiotikabildung bekannt (BETINA, II. Mitarh. 1962b,GROVE 1964; Nozox u. Mitarb, 1965; CIEGLER & LINDENl<'ELSER 1969 ; LINDENFELSER & CIEGLER )(JG9 ; SLIFKIN u. Mitarb, 1973). Weitcrhin g iht es AlternariaMetabolite, di e gegcniibe r Tieren, wie Manse (SLIFKIN & SPA,LDING 1970 ; SI,IFKINn. Mitarb. 1973), Ratten (CHRISTENSEN 19(8), Ganse (FOlWA,CS & CARLI 1962 ; SOBERS& D OUI'NIK 1970) so wie Nem atoden (BACIKOVA II. Mitarb. 19(4) a ls Mycotoxinewirksam sind . Krankheitssymptomen , Kulturbedingungen zur Biosynthese, methodische Grund lagenzur Isolierung und zum Nachweis im Biot est sowie die chemische Natur del' A lternaria-Metabolite .
1. Phytoeffektive A lternaria-Metabolit-Bildner und Metabolit-sensitiveOrganismen mit ihren Schadsymptomen
In Tab elle 1 sind Literaturangab en iiber phytoeffekt ive Alternaria-M etabolite, diePi lzarte n mit del' Fahigkeit zur Metabolitbildung, sensiti ve Wirtsorgan ismen gegeniiber den Metaboliten und die Krankheitsbild er aufgelistet.
In Tabelle 1 werd en 21 toxische Substanzgruppen mit 21 Derivaten vorgest ellt ,wobei von 4 toxischcn Prinzipien eine chemische Chara kte ristik noch au ssteht.
Aus Tabelle 1 ist ersicht lich, daB die Alternaria-Metabolit e vorwiegend von mehreren A lternaria-Arten geb ildet werd en konn en, au Bel' AK-Toxine, Altenin , Solanopyrone und Tentoxin, die jeweils von nu l' einer Art pr oduziert werden. A lternariaalternata (FRIES) KEISSLER (Synonym: A. tenuis AUOT., A. longipes) sowie Alternariakikuchiana TANAKA ragen unter den Alternaria-Arten mit del' Bildung von siebenbzw. sechs toxischen Substanzgruppen herv or. Die Metabolite Altersolan ole, Bostrycin und Derivat , Brefeldin A und Derivat , Curv ularin und Deri vate, Radi cininund Derivate sowie Tenuazonsiiure konnen von A lternaria- und anderen P ilzar tensynt het isiert werd en.
Weiterhin infor miert Tab elle 1 libel' da s sensit ive Wirtsspektrum gegen iiberAlternaria-Metabolit en. Als wirt sspezifische Met abolit e (nul' einer Art gegen iiberwirksam) sind AK -Tox ine, Altyenin, Solan opyron e und hochmolekulares Polysaccharid-Toxin einzuordnen, wogegen die iibrigen tox ischen Metabolite offens icht lichwirtsunspezifi sch (mehreren Art en gegeniiber wirk sam ) sind . Dabei konnten vonmehreren Metaboliten neben Pflanzen- auch Mikrob en-toxische Effekte erm itteltworden. Altenuen und Deriv ate sowie Tenu azonsaure zeigten da.riiber hinau s nochtoxische Wirkung gegeniiber Sauget ierzellkult uren . Die phytostimulierend e Potenzvon Iso cumarin bzw. die wachstumsregulatorisehe Funktion von Radicinin bildenoffenbar die Auanahmen in del' Wirksamkeit del' A lternaria-Metabolite gegenii berp flanzen . Die toxisehen Effekte del' Metabolite an P ilzen t raten entweder als Hemmung del' Sporenk eimung odor a ls reduziertes Hyphenwachstum auf.
Die in Tabelle 1 aufgeliste ten sensitiven Pflanzen sind zum iiberwiegenden TeilKultur- bzw. Nutzpflanz en. Die Minderheit bilden Unkra utarten , die durch bestimmteAlternaria-Metabolite gesehiidigt wurden , und zwar: Uriica dioica L. und Solan umdulcamara L. von Alternariasaure und Derivate, Eic hhornia crassipes SOHNS . undM orrenia odorata LINDL. von Bostrycin und Derivat sowie Oirsium arvense Soor.von Brefeldin A und Derivat sowie Radicinin und Derivaten.
I n del' Literatur konnten je eine Patentschrift libel' Verfahren zur mikrobiellenMetaboliterzeugung von Radicinin und Tentoxin gefunden werden. Von den phytotoxi schen Alternaria-Metabolit en wird Tenuazonsiiure als Forschungs- und Entwicklungspriiparat fiir Herb izide und Wachstumsregulatoren aufgefiihrt (BAUER u.Mitarb. 1981).
2. Kulturbedingungen zur Biosynthese sowie methodisehe Grundlagenzur Isolierung und zum Nachweis im Biotest von A lternaria-Metaboliten
In Tabelle 2 sind Literaturangaben libel' Kulturbedingungen zur Biosynthese sowiemethodische Grundlagen zur I solierung und ZU lll Nachweis im Biotest phytotoxischerAlternaria-Metabolite zusarnm engefalst. Dabei wird auf Literaturangaben verzi chtet ,da sie bereits in Tab elle 1 vorgestellt wurden.

Die Angaben iiber die Kulturbedingungen (Tabelle 2) zeigen, daB versehiedenartigeNahrsubstrate Iiir die Kultivierung der Pilzstamme genutzt wurden. Als C-QueBenwurden haufig Starke oder Saccharose, seltener Glucose, eingesetzt. Meist kamStandkultur mit Nahrlosung iiher einen Zeitraum his maximal 35 Tage bei einerTemperatur von 25 bis 28°C zur Anwendung. Weiterhin wurde auch FestsubstratKultur durchgefiihrt, wobei vor allem Reis-, Hirse- oder Weizenkorner mit Nahrsalzzusatz eingesetzt wurden. Auffallend ist, wie aus Tabelle 2 hervorgeht, da.B die Metabolite AK-Toxine, Altenin,Radieinin und Derivat sowie Tenuazonsaure bei submerserKultur (Schiittel- bzw, Fermenter-Kultur) in wesentlieh kiirzerer Kulturzeit gegeniiber der Standkultur gewonnen werden konnten. CHARUDATTAN und RAO (1982)stellten fest, daf Bostryein vorn Pilzstamm nur in Stand-, nieht aber in Sehiittelkultursynthetisiert wurde, Offen bar ist die Biosynthese von Altersolanolen an Dunkelheitgebunden, wie aus Tabelle 2 zu entnehmen ist. Entsprechend den Arbeiten von ROBESON u. Mitarb. (1982) wurde Radicinin vom Pilzstamm ab Wachstumsbeginn uber diegesamte Kulturzeit gebildet, wahrend Radicinol zusatzlich erst ab 10. Kulturtag bisKulturende nachweisbar war. Der Bildungszeitpunkt des letztgenannten Metabolitenist Iiir viele Alternaria-Metabolite typisch, indem kurz vor dem Erreichen oder mitdem Erreichen der maximalen Biomassebildung des Pilzstarnrnes die Metaboliteisolierbar waren.
Aus Tabelle 2 ist weiterhin zu entnehmen, da.B viele Alternaria-Metabolite aus demKulturfiltrat extrahierbar waren, wogegen Altenuen, Altenuisol, Alternariol undDerivat sowie Altersolanole nur bzw. vorwiegend aus dem Mycel isolierbar waren.Die verbreitetsten Extraktionsmittel, die zu Beginn der Isolation eingesetzt wurden,waren Aeeton, Athylacetat, Chloroform und Diathylather, wobei das Kulturfiltratvor der Extraktion vielfach auf einen bestimmten pH-Wert eingestellt wurde.
Fur den Nachweis der isolierten Reinsubstanzen diente neben chemischen Nachweisverfahren der Biotest. Dabei karnen Bakterien, Pilzsporen, Pflanzenblatter, SproBtriebe oder Gurkensamen zum Einsatz, wie es Tabelle 2 zeigt. Der Pflanzenbiotesterfolgte mittels feuchter Kammer, wobei die Pflanzenteile intakt oder zusatzlich verletzt mit der effektiven Substanzlosung appliziert wurden. Nach relativ kurzer Zeitkonnte an Hand der charakteristischen Symptome eine Auswertung vorgenommenwerden.
3. Zur chemischen Natur der phytoeffektiven Altemaria-Metabolite
In Tabelle 3 werden die phytoeffektiven Alternaria-Metabolite, geordnet nachTrivialnamen, mit ihrer chemischen Bezeichnung und Strukturformel vorgestellt.Die in der Literatur beschriebenen toxischen Prinzipien von Alternaria-Stammen,deren ehemische Natur noch unbekannt ist, blieben unberiicksichtigt. Als Literaturangaben dienten die Literaturstellen der Tabelle 1.
Tabelle 3 zeigt, daB fast alle Metabolite phenolisehe und heteroeyclisehe Verbindungen, verbreitet vorn Typ der Pyrone und Anthraehinone, darstellen. Lediglich dieAM-Toxine und Tentoxin mit Derivat sind Cyclopeptide.
