INDIA·S DESTINATION
´Where the mind is without fear
And the head is held high«
Into the heaven of freedom, let my country awakeµ
Wrote Rabindranath Tagore a century ago .
He and our leaders dreamt
That free India was a prize
That would overcome all daily strife
And for this dream they,
Their whole lives spent...
Today my India is on the move,
But cowed by poverty, populace and corruption
Her glorious legacy is reeling under disruption
And time will and must express
The seething talent amongst our youth
To win accolades and many patents Which no tyranny of the strong nor weak can repress
Those who now seek to divide and stratify
Must and will one day nature·s law do ratify
And stand up in the nation·s court to testify
´The glory of India, her children will verify.µ
The heritage and prayers of saints harken
And as per the divine instruction
The masses will awaken and function
Water, electricity, roads everyone will receive
Educations will nature the mind to perceive
«.that everyone·s soul is light to heighten
We will fight to banish all reptiles
To make our hallow land again fertile
Our destination will be
Our courage, dignity and prosperity to reclaim
To place my India on the road to acclaim«

MOVIE REVIEW :
AARAKSHAN
Amidst all the political outcry about
the supposedly inappropriate
depiction of the reservation issue inthe country and a ban on release in a
few states, Aarakshan was finally
released on 12th August 2011.
Directed by Prakash Jha , the film is a
socio-political drama based on the
issue of caste based reservation.
Prabhakar Anand (Amitabh
Bachchan), principle of a reputed
institute, Shakuntala Thakral
Memorial (SMT); is an idealistic manand has a soft corner for the
students from the underprivileged
castes though his selection policy
takes into account the really
disadvantaged children. He comes
across as a real hero in todays world
where according to him a parallel
commercial vyavastha of education
in the form of private coaching is
seemingly destroying everything. He
strongly condemns it.
Deepak Kumar(Saif Ali Khan),
Anands favorite student is a self
made man. Belonging to the Dalit
society, with Anands support the
man attains the treasure of
knowledge but yet his caste remains
a constant hurdle in his life. Deepak
is in a relationship with Anands
daughter Purbi ( Deepika Padukone)
who seems to have everything in life,
a great family, true love and a great friend in Sushant Seth (Prateek
Babbar) who is the son of an
influential trustee of SMT.
Mithilesh Singh(Manoj Bajpayee) is a
Professor in SMT, a complete
opposite of Anand. Though highly
qualified, education is just a business
to him. Along with corrupt
politicians he plans to set up an
empire in this business
Amongst all this the Supreme Court
gives its historical decision about the
27% reservation for OBCs whichunleashes a social turmoil. Nobody
can remain untouched by its
influence. Anand is in a dilemma
whether to support the reservation
or not but all through it he sticks to
his ideals- siddhant . The story
revolves around Anands life and all
other issues are woven within it.
The movie begins by focussing on
the reservation issues but slowly
deviates to the evil of private
coaching and shows money minded
teachers and politicians to be the
root cause for the need of
reservation. It highlights the
importance of improving primary
education for the underprivileged
rather than blind caste based
reservation which is just being
misused.
The movie has power packedperformances by Amitabh Bachchan
and Manoj Bajpayee, weaving a new
rivalry. Saif Ali, Deepika and junior
Babbar provide good support. The
movie also boasts of a guest
appearance by Hema Malini. Some of
the dialogues like Bajpayees Aap
the zero, hain zero aur hamesha
rahenge sirf zero promise to be all
time great. The music is just OK.
In Anands words Is desh mein doBharat baste hain, the movie tries to
show a path to bridge the gap
between the two.

From The Heart......
by John George on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 2:30am
How much tragedy can one man be expected to countenance
before he calls it quits & lays down his final armour --Hope??? ..The answer to
that question would be Dr Shejoy. Stripped of his reputations, his livelihood,
losing a beloved parent, the hardest hits t hat fate can deal out.
Reinstatement satisfies only a part of what justice in full demands. The pain
of being labelled ' tainted' can only be eased when respect is fully restored .
That is what we owe him
"Only once in a while do we get an opportunity to be
a part of a change and yet, these are not possiblewithout honest leaders or dedicated supporters have
spent last few days among best of both of these. Proud to
have been a part of this revolution!!" said Dr Shinde. When the
horizon appeared darkest. His words echoed the spirits of a leadership that
refused to crumble before threats & defied the quicksand of frustration in the
face of deceit
For those of us who wished to, the lessons to be learned were
many, Dr Debjyoti's attitude of jumping in with both feet though the depths
were as yet unknown, Dr Parag with his incisive views, Dr Bhowmik & Dr
Shinde feeding the spirit of revolution & Dr Sudipto ready to hold on till the
end and beyond. This is a victory of all d student fraternity at AIIMS .
We wanted justice n we finally got it, Dr Shejoy is back ...
These are the stalwarts of our generation and to have stood
shoulder to shoulder with them fills me with a deep joy and self respect that
comes from leaving something precious that posterity can inherit inspiration
from, over the years...Jai Hind...
