Kapoor's contribution in the

field of academics

Dr Kapoor is the Editor - in - Chief of the Eleven

Volume Encyclopedia of Hinduism published in

2012. His other works include Rati Bhakti Prof. Kapoor is a renowned name in Indian Bharat Ki Katha Parampara Me (2011), literary circle for his contribution to the field of Dimensions of Panini Grammar (2005) and many

linguistics (both Indian and Western) and for his

authority on Indian Intellectual traditions. Born

in the year 1940, Dr Kapoor has devoted 52 years

of his life for teaching: 41 Scholars worked for

Ph D and 36 for M Phil under him during the

COurse of his incredible journey. He was also the

Dean of the School of Language, Literature and

ulture Studies, JNU, from 1996 1999 and

Rector (Pro- Vice Chancellor) of the University from 1999 - 2002. He served as a Professor at

darsana, jnana and vidya. 'Darsana' (philosophy) is the 'System, the point of view which leads to Jnana, (Knowledge). When knowledge gathered about a particular domain is organized & systematized for purposes of pedagogy, it is called'vidya' (discipline).

In his address, Prof. Kapoor exhorted the teachers to make their students realize the

importance of their own knowledge systems as the west has always emulated the rich Indianknowledge tradition.
