Common Philosophy:• Most municipal strategies geared toward protecting homes and
businesses from 100-yr flooding.
• Solutions generally target improvements to publicly owned drainage systems.
• Drainage issues that are not caused by stormwater runoff from public infrastructure (streets, greenways, ponds, etc.) are generally not included in municipal flood control strategies.
• Nevertheless, the health of a community as well as local property values can be negatively affected by widespread drainage and flooding problems, regardless of cause.

Conceptual Engineering Cost Estimates
Regional• Martin Street Pond Improvement - $300,000• Dodge Street Improvements - $70,000
Local• Stormwater Pump Station - $200,000
• Roadside Swales - $1,300,000 (+ Pump Station)OR
• Backyard Tiles - $1,400,000 (+ Pump Station)
The challenges to achieving either of the above regional drainage improvements will be substantial and will require additional study and design as well as a great deal of coordination and cooperation with neighborhood residents.
