Carols at Millthorpe I will be looking for some excellent public speakers and readers to present some of the program at Carols by Candlelight on Thursday 15th De-cember, keep the date in mind. Our Christ-mas Carols night is coming together really nicely, with the Bathurst Chamber Orchestra, and the Carillon Show band both coming to Millthorpe for the night. Chloe and Jason Roweth will also be performing a variety of Australian Carols. Electric candles will be available for $3, and song books will be on hand. Other wise the night is free. Put the date aside ….. THURSDAY 15TH DECEMBER, see you there!

It’s Week 9.. Already!
Tomorrow is a uniform - free day Students may wear mufti-clothes, or their sports uniform, so that their formal uni-forms are clean and organised for Thurs-day night. Please wear enclosed shoes, and suitable warm clothing for the weather.
On Thursday night we wear our full school uniform, and bring our warm po-lar fleece jumpers, and possibly even our school coats, if it stays cold like this!
As children will be changing out of their uniforms for the performance, please be very careful to label all clothing, socks, skirts, shirts, shorts or trousers. 30 pairs of grey shorts on the classroom floor are not easy to find a home for, unless there is name, it’s a very exciting time, and per-formers will be rushing to be ready, so label, label, label. The Markets Feedback In the last newsletter, I was calling for volunteers to join Team Millthorpe to help out at the markets, and help out you did! It was an outstandingly successful day yet again, with the Weather Gods smiling on us, and the crowd larger than ever. There have been many, many responses from stall holders and visitors to our beau-tiful village declaring the positive nature of the day. Never ending thanks must go to the organising committee, Georgie Hinrichsen, Jo Copelin, Steve Harris and Kate Munro led ably by Shona Kay, who pulled off another very successful day for the school. Well done ladies, and well done to all the myriad of helpers, espe-

Last school day for students - Friday 16th December.
Presentation Night A word about presentation night for the uninitiated… We have a big pro-gram for the night, starting with the formal presentation of prizes and awards for each class. Each class awards 5 book prizes, 2 for aca-demic excellence, 2 for consistent endeavour, and 1 for class citizen-ship. There is a kindergarten gradua-tion book prize for everyone in Kin-dergarten, and all students in year 6 also receive a special gift for gradu-ating.
There are a range of other annual presentations, for leadership, special art awards, and sporting blues etc. Students wear their formal school uniform for this section of the night. It’s a bit like a very big, very special assembly.
The announcement of school cap-tains for 2012 is made, and year 6 present a farewell gift to the school.
After a brief interval, students per-form a whole-school item, with each class presenting their section. This year, the theme is circus… class teachers will give you more individ-
ual information about what your children need for this. This is a lot of fun. After another short interval, we present the year 6 farewell slide show, a moving documentary of the children leaving us for high school. Presentation night starts at 6.30 pm, and is held under the COLA. Usually, it blows in a little chilly, so be prepared, and bring a rug, or a warm coat.
The evening usually winds up at about 9.30pm, very young students are welcome to head home to bed after their class performance. Every-one comes along to presentation night, with lots of family and friends to share a very special night in our school calendar.
See you there! 6.30pm, Thursday 8th December.
If the weather is inclement, we will send a message home with your children on Thursday afternoon to indicate that presentation night has been postponed to Wednesday 14th, at 6.30pm.
After School Activities at Millthorpe in Term 4 - week 9 Most activities have finished for the year, There will be senior percussion next Wednesday. I know rock band has had their last session, keep your eyes on the newsletter early next year for the next round of activities.

A Christmas Message
It seems a little surreal to be
writing this Christmas message.
Where has the year gone?
Time truly does fly when you are
having fun, and I have had lots of
fun through out 2011, sharing the
joy of every day with your beauti-
ful children, and receiving lots of
love, hugs and smiles from them.
They are a credit to you, and the
love and care you show them is
amply reflected in their attitudes
at school. I am constantly
reminded about their beautiful
manners, behaviour, attitude and
happy, confident dispositions by
visitors, and the general public
who stop to comment to me about
them. I glow with pride.
Thanks to all parents who have
helped out during the year in any
capacity, you help to make the
place really hum.
Academically our years results
have been excellent once again,
and I must congratulate the teach-
ing team on another year well
done!
Have a very happy Christmas and
New Year with them, look after
them for us all, and enjoy some
special quality time together be-
fore we return to school on Mon-
day 30th January 2012, for years 1
to 6, and Thursday 2nd February
for new kindergarten enrolments.
Merry Christmas, to all, with love
and hugs.

Term 4 Week 9
What a day!! Is the general comment when you hear people talking about the Millthorpe Markets. We have had so many positive comments from stall-holders, visitors and volunteers.
I am very proud to be associated with a school community that can pull together to host such an extraordinarily large event. A huge THANK- YOU to the markets committee who spent countless hours of their own time or-ganising the day (thanks Shona, Georgie, Jo & Steve, you guys are superstars).
To the parent volunteers who did their shift, then volunteered to stay for longer, we could not run the day with-out the volunteers, you all did an amazing job – Go Team Millthorpe.
To the cake makers, who may not be able to donate time on the day, but donate time and money through produc-ing the most delicious cakes. Two mums this year pushed their ovens to the limit producing approximately 20 cakes each, Thank YOU!!!!
To the students who ran stalls, ran errands, collected money and rubbish at the end of the day. You guys are a credit to your parents and MPS. We have received many an email from stallholders commenting on the wonder-ful attitudes and manners of the MPS kids.
To our amazing staff who probably choked on their coffees when Jo J, announced the markets committee are doing this twice a year. You guys are such an asset to this school the commitment to extra curricula activities would be hard to be beaten anywhere else.
To anyone else who donated or helped, Thank You Thank You Thank You.
Hopefully we will have final figures for tonights P&C meeting. Early counting certainly suggests we may break some records this year.
P&C meeting starts at 6:30 in the library.
Volunteers I have 8 P&C shirts outstanding could you please return them to the office before the end of term.
Also don’t forget early next year the P&C will be hosting Pix in the Stix, which will be a great family night out. If you are interested in advertising your business on the night please contact Jo Copelin 63663738.
The P&C AGM will take place in March, please consider taking on a position as there will be a couple that are be-ing vacated. For more information on the roles available please contact me on 63665119.
Hope to see you all at presentation night.

man targets taking shots for the team, body art, nail painting, guessing
competitions, money drop and the selling of various green sweets and
drinks.
Thanks to everyone for their participation and enthusiasm for the day.
Especially the school leaders and Susie Morgan who had a long night
cooking for the event with her son.
There were some winners on the day including: Mentos Guessing Competition = Sam Archer (207)
Jelly Bean Guessing Competition = Angus Blyde (512) Mystery Box Competition = Charlie Blyde (Avocado, Scourer)
