Attention Year 5 Parents Parents wishing to apply on behalf of their child for year 7 in 2013 Selective Schools placement test may apply online from October 24th, 2011 when most students are in Year 5. The online application process can be found at www.xsel.schools.nsw.edu.au From October 25 printed application forms will be available in the school for parents without internet access. I have received the paper applications, please phone, or send a message if you would like to receive a printed copy of the ap- plication form. It’s week 3 already! We’ve had a busy and productive term so far already. I very much enjoyed the Stage 3 excursion to Broken Bay for a couple of days. I was lapping up the positive com- ments from the Broken Bay staff about your wonderful children, whose beautiful behaviour, positive attitude and friendly, kind manners make them memorable visitors to the camp. The Broken Bay staff were very impressed by the Millthorpe group, once again. Then I had two days watching Charlotte and Chloe compete at the State PSSA competi- tion, at the Olympic Sports centre, at Homebush. Abbey Barrett - artist visit Last Friday, before camp, the senior 5/6 class were treated to a visit from Abbey Barrett, a print-maker from Sunny Corner. The class produced some great mono-prints, which will be on display at the Heritage Country Schools Art Show, to be held on the 14th November, in the new Blayney Public School Hall. Keep the afternoon free for the open-ing, and come over to see the art, and also check out the Blayney Public School hall, which is similar to the hall we are hav-ing constructed. Our hall will start construction soon!

KLA Day - 2011 2nd November Each year, the Heritage Country Schools group gather all the chil-dren together in celebration of a different Key Learning Area (KLA) This year marks the HSIE (Human Society and Its Environment) celebration. We will be hosting all students in Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten) and Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) here at Millt-horpe. Stage 2 (years 3 and 4) will all be together at Blayney Public School, while Stage 3 stu-dents (years 5 and 6) will gather at Blayney High School.

At Millthorpe, we will be investi-gating a variety of countries from around the world. At Blayney Public, students will be focussing on Australian studies, while the High School students will be en-joying some historical aspects of

HSIE. KLA day is next Wednes-day, 2nd November. The cost for each student is $2, which covers special equipment costs, for ex-ample, the “passports” needed for Kindergarten and stage 1, bus transport for stages 2 and 3, and performances for stage 2 and 3. The costs are being heav-ily subsided, to keep costs down for you. Students in stage 2 are asked to dress in a colonial theme. Please return the en-closed permission note and $2 per student to Millthorpe school office before next Wednesday 2nd Nov. KLA day is always fun, it allows our students to meet and mingle with their counter-parts from *Blayney *Carcoar *Errowanbang *Lyndhurst *Mandurama *Neville and *Trunkey.

No Printing We continue to accept “no Printing” forms, which is continu-ing to save us time, paper, and printing costs. Thank-you to those who have returned the forms. To find the newsletter, go to the school website, [email protected] look for the tab newsletters 2011, and there you have it! We have opted for the website option, as maintaining accurate e-mail mailing lists is time consuming and fraught with possible prob-lems. Please contact us if you have any comments about the website. Kindergarten Orientation

Our first session for the new Kin-dergarten students was held on Tuesday 25th. Congratulations to the year 4 and 5 buddies, who did such a great job wel-coming the new kindies, that everyone went off into their orientation with lots of nerves and excitement, but no tears or fears. Well done buddies! Same time next week.

Kind Regards

Jo Jackett

Term 4 Week 3

Hi all,

Hope you all had a well earned holiday. We had a fantastic trip to Central Austra-lia. If you are a family of campers I highly recommend it. Back to an event that happened in Term 3 ‘Special Food Day’. Thanks Terri and Johanna for putting your hand up to run the day. From all accounts it was very popular and the ladies were ran off their feet. The kids certainly enjoyed the Italian feast that was pre-pared. As you all know Term 4 is always a very busy term for staff and P&C. Though last week was fairly quiet in many Millthorpe homes with Stages 2 and 3 on their excursions. I know my girls had a fabulous time, experiencing activities like grass skiing, ropes courses and raft building. Thanks teachers for organising these grand adventures and bringing our kids home safe and sound and exhausted. Away, but not on excursions were our super athletes Charlotte Stewart and Chloe Richards. Both girls should be congratulated for their tremendous efforts at the state athletics carnival. Speaking of athletes, I would also like to acknowledge and thank Mr Tom Mason for the efforts he put into preparing our children for the regionally athletics carnival in Term 3. Tom offered training to all the children participating at a regional level and did so in his own time. We are truly lucky to have teachers like Tom Mason at MPS. Thanks Tom!! A big thank you must go to the Millthorpe Bowling Club for their generous donation of $1500 towards resources for our new library, it is very much appreciated. This has been a big term so far for the Markets Committee, I know the ladies, have sent many an email, made many a phone call and filled out many forms so that the markets can happen in a safe way. Market Committee you know who you are and you gals are doing an amazing job. Also thanks to Steve Harris for filling in for me while I was away I know how much you all enjoy reading his reports. Don’t forget next meeting is Thursday 27th October in the new library at 6:30pm. Have a great week.
