Principal’s Report
[Issue #]
Welcome to Term 4 Week 10 It’s our final hurrah, as we won’t be producing a newsletter next week. Presentation and Performance night The children and teachers have been rehearsing for our whole school performance every day this week, and are looking forward to entertaining you on Thursday night. Each member of each class is pivotal to the whole class performances, and has a special role to play. Please make every effort to attend with your children on Thursday night (tomorrow night) The formal proceedings begin at 6pm. Students should wear their full, formal school uniforms for the presentation part of the evening, and may therefore wear their sports uniforms to school on Thursday, so their uniforms can be clean for Thursday night. Costumes for the performance should be sent into classes, and children will retire to their rooms to get costumed up ready for the performance, after the formal presentations are made, the performance will begin at approximately 7.30pm. We’re really excited! See you on Thursday night! Playground Equipment Installation Working Bee The new playground equipment which P&C have provided, is due to be delivered any day now. We will be holding a couple of working bee days during the Christmas holiday break to install the new equipment, ready for the children to return in 2014. We need 4 people with some building /
concreting skills around the 6th
and 7th
January. We will be digging footings, pouring concrete and placing the posts, and hopefully some of the platforms on these days. Thanks in advance to Kieron Brown for the use of his “digger”. On the 18
th January we will complete the job
and assemble the equipment. To do this we need more skilled workers, who have drills suitable for drilling the hardwood posts, and the patience to read the assembly instructions. Andrew Parkinson is bringing the allan key! In support of these wonderful volunteers, some happy food and refreshment providers would be welcome to make the days a success. Please leave your name and holiday contact details at the office if you are able to assist. Charlie Harris and Gavan Wickes are your site supervisors, and they will contact you with further details. Hurrah! We have made it to the completion of this long-term goal of replacing our old equipment. Thanks P&C and Thanks volunteers. Combined assembly The last day of study for the students is Wednesday 18
th December. We begin the day
with our final whole-school assembly, from 9am – 11am in the hall. There are many important people to thank, recognise and praise on this day, and some extra special surprises to be announced also. We will have final performances from the Whole School Band, the Boys Hip-Hop group, and the percussion group. Teachers will present their final awards for the year, and the new school leaders have their first turn at running assembly. Try to come along to celebrate the end of
another wonderful year at Millthorpe Public School. Start dates School returns for students in years 1 – 6 on Wednesday 29
th January 2014. New
Kindergarten students will receive their Best Start dates in the mail this week, and will begin all together on Monday 3
rd February.

Garden Club News!!!!!!!! A big thankyou to all those involved in the garden club this year. The highlight would have to be the visit from the staff of Bunnings at Orange on Monday. The
garden club received a healthy canteen grant, thanks to Jo Parkinson in which we purchased the 6 raised garden beds. Bunnings were very generous enough to
supply all the soil, vegies, mulch and fertilisers for all these beds, they also made the time to come out and plant them with the children. Bunnings have also
offered to come out and plant the winter vegies with the children when we are ready. The garden stall was a huge success. A huge thank you to Debbie Wilkin, Bec
Vaughan, Jo Jackett, & Di Cullen for all the plants they potted up for the stall. A big thank you to Naomi McDonald, Vanessa Coulton, Karen Watterson &Gavin
Wicks for donating a wonderful array of plants that were potted up for the day. We look forward to seeing you all again next year. We will be holding the bulb fund
raiser again in February along with the markets in April.

P & C Report
Thank you to all the families and teachers who have made it another great year at MPS by volunteering their time and resources to make the school community a pleasure to be part of. On behalf of the P & C, I wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas and a great start to 2014. At the P & C meeting last week it was confirmed that there will be 11 classes next year. We have secured another demountable classroom for the extra class, however, it probably won’t be here in time for the beginning of Term 1, so one class will start the year in the craft room, computer room or library until it arrives. Fingers are crossed it will be sooner rather than later. Our first P & C meeting for next year will be on Wednesday 12th February at 6pm in the school staff room. See you at Presentation night, Johannah
