Press Release

7th song (for Maldoror) an exhibition by bijoux de kant

27, 28, 29, 30 September & 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 October 2012

venue: Specially Configured Underground Level of MCF, Athens

The exhibition 7th song (for Maldoror) is inspired and realized on the occasion the performance of bijoux de kant lautréamont – maldoror: Commendation of a Metamorphosis. If the performance is a mis en scène proposal of the 6 songs of Maldoror, a text of unique value and importance, the exhibition is a hypothesis of a possible version of a 7th not written part of Comte de Lautréamont’s masterpiece. For this song, the lyrics are shaped through artistic gestures, intentions and decisions, which are transformed into objects and images, works of Greek and international artists. The body and its image, the body and its absence, the image and its lack, are dipoles between which, the artworks are moving as intentions, acts and results. The works of art, poetic texts, sculptures, paintings, objects or drawings, slip from an individual and personal artist’s statement, into a version of reality that seems to exist in every single human as well as in all together collectively and simultaneously. In this reality identity is not the subject anymore and existence emerges as a question of presence or/and absence, decisions and traces.
