The Terminator Series… internal operations comprise inbuilt shock absorption means that deactivates all spikes with a baffling mechanism. It is this action that controls the surge as it enters through either end of the Terminator.How is Water Hammer created? Up until now… there hasn’t been a constructive solution to the annoying water hammer saga. Our Team is proud to announce that it has developed a hammer arrestor series that will eliminate this problem once and for all.

This Series… will effectively eliminate ‘General’ hydraulic shock. General (Positive) water hammer can occur anywhere within a residential dwellings’ in-built piping system.

These Terminators… are also the only answer to controlling water hammer effectively within High Rise Units, Offices and Light commercial/industrial plants.

In fact… Builders, Building developers and Plumbers are continually faced with ongoing water hammer problems; this reoccurring problem affects unit owners and the body corporate in general. Whilst the damaging aspect of water hammer is not the foremost concern… it is the ongoing night and day banging and clunking of the pipes throughout the block that is major annoying factor. This model was specially designed… for fire brigade trucks and irrigation, however it may apply to many other field applications.

SHOWER RECESSES OVERVIEW

Also happens… in the shower, simply simply turning off and on either the hot or cold taps, which operates the showerhead -rose, creates the hammer.

Reverse water hammer… will create a negative shockwave in between the distance linking the tap & the shower rose outlet. A big percentage of shower roses are installed directly above the taps (as shown in red in the diagram), even at this short distance the continuous reverse water hammer spike bombardments are strong enough to eventually loosen the pipe-mountings on the framework behind the tiles. The further the piping is extended (shown in blue) the stronger the shockwave spike becomes.

Spa baths… produce another typical example of ‘reverse’ water hammer in residential dwellings.

Negative water hammer… (Or reverse) produces an opposite shock oscillation as apposed too positive (general) and therefore as a result it requires a different Terminator working mechanism to completely eradicate this noisy and damaging occurrence.

Until now… there hasn’t been a water hammer arrestor developed that will effectively eliminate negative hydraulic shock in residential dwellings.

We have designed… a special Terminator series to cater for negative shockwaves in shower recesses; one model allows be installing into existing situation as a retrofit outside the surface (tiles or sheet) area and is covered with a waterproof molded shroud that doubles as a shelf for soap or other, the further is designed for either a single or a twin-tap new installation that is recessed behind the surface and after the lining has been applied… covered with a waterproof plate and also acts as the mounting plate for the taps. There will be a selection of finished hardwearing plates to suit various lining finishes.

SPA BATHS OVERVIEW

Negative water hammer… occurs in an extended pipe situation between a solenoid valve and the discharge open-pipe outlet jets. The longer distance between the solenoid closure and the Spa outlets, the greater the negative water hammer spike. Our test results performed at the recommended dwelling water pressure of 500 kPa revealed that a greater shockwave-spike is produced at a distance of 20ft (6m), than at a distance of 4 feet (1.3m).

Put simply… the mass-body of water on the outlet side of the closure continues to travel unimpeded at the same flow rate, speeding towards the outlet. At 500-kPa static water pressure, the speed of the flowing water is approximately 10.8 KPa or about 10ft (3m) per second. This action creates a considerable suction vacuum as the traveling mass-body of water draws against the point of closure as it heads for the outlet.

A negative shockwave-spike… (or reverse) is also referred to as an echoed shockwave and will produce the same or worse damaging results as positive water hammer. ‘Spa Baths’ cause the worst residential hammer. The operation of spa baths poses an engineering challenge with respect to controlling hydraulic shockwaves; in particular, where a spa is installed at a lengthy distance (using smaller bore piping) from the main ¾” (20mm) service within the home, a reverse-hammer scenario is encouraged; increasing and amplifying the problem.

No more banging in the spa bath

The only solution… is to install our negative water hammer Terminator arrestor directly after the closure valve (solenoid) on the outlet side to the spa. This will eliminate the reverse spike.

Whilst the negative hammer… has now been eliminated, positive water hammer will still occur within the main dwelling. Once the solenoid is closed it causes positive built up inside the remainder of the building’s pipe work.

Even if… entry were possible through to the ‘Reverse Arrestor’ it would not be able to suppress the ‘Positive Hammer’ as the inner absorption mechanism of the unit differs considerably.

In order to improve… this situation it is advisable to additionally install our ‘Positive Terminator’ within the main pipe work on the opposite side of the solenoid to that of the ‘Negative Arrestor’.

Now both Arrestors… will work together in harmony eliminating both positive and negative water hammer 100% effectively.

Dual Purpose Hammer Arrestors

The Terminator Series… that will control both Positive & Negative Hammer in the same Arrestor Unit.

In many cases… throughout varying industries both positive and negative hydraulic shock occurs within the same service-piping network. In most instances, this phenomenon creates catastrophicdamage to plant machinery, piping and fittings.

The Team… has included an arrestor-version that will safely control both positive and negative hydraulic shock spikes within the same operating unit. This dual-purpose series will range either as a sealed unit for smaller applications such as irrigation and fire-hose control, or for larger applications scaled-up to suit any superior rationale.

This particular model... has been designed specifically for the - ‘fire department’ and ‘irrigation’. However, it is to be understood that these arrestors could also apply to many other global applications throughout varying industries.

This version… was initially designed for ‘Fire Fighting Services’ and large ‘Irrigation Operations’… the unit is slightly larger in diameter and length than the standard residential and light commercial version… again encom -passing an additional 30% static pressure buffer-capacity over and above that stated on each units testing label.

This Model… can only be installed as a 90-degree Tee-off to the appropriate service line. It will absorb both ‘Positive and Negative’ shock waves giving the fireman the opportunity to rapidly open and close the lever on the fire-hose nozzle. It will also eliminate both ‘Positive and Negative’ shockwaves as the pumping system ramps-up and shuts-down.

The Terminator Team is well advanced... towards developing a ‘Super Terminator’; finally there will be a reliable answer to solving this belated ‘Hydraulic shock’ phenomenon in systems associated with hydraulic fluid.

This is a Global damaging occurrence… within the many industries that constantly rely on hydraulic fluid to operate machinery involved in a Hugh number of Global industry applications; the effects of ‘Positive and Negative Shock’ at pressures from 2000 to 4000 psi are constantly blowing flexible hoses, joints, seals and fittings.

AGRICULTURE – IRRIGATION

The greatest threat… to your irrigation system during initial start-up is water hammer.

You may already be aware... of water hammer if you have "clanging" plumbing in your house. That "knock" is produced by a surge of pressure caused by the water velocity-rush being suddenly terminated by a faucet or solenoid and as the continuing body of water heads for the outlets it pulls against the closure. This effect is the catalyst that creates “reverse” water hammer.

It should also be understood... that as the solenoid/faucet reopens the rush of water coming from the pump creates “positive” water hammer as it comes in contact with the partially filled water and air gaps in the piping. This can cause surge pressures up to fifteen times greater than the static pressure which is far beyond the recommended pressure allowance for which the system has been designed for.

Positive and negative... water hammer is the worst kind of hammer you can experience. The combination of these surge pressures can burst fittings and blow sprinklers literally right out of the ground. Worse still, even if your system doesn't blow in your presence from these surge pressures, you are at risk of an entire system failure at a later date when you are away say, on holidays, or during the hottest months of the year when your irrigation system is most needed. The Terminator series… will provide a range of positive and negative arrestors to control any surge spikes in irrigation. Yes - Our Arrestors will fix this problem permanently and they will uphold a lengthy guarantee with a money back assurance.

FIRE BRIGADE SERVICES OVERVIEW

Fire fighters mainly rely on… various sources for their water supplies are drawn water from fire hydrants, dams, streams or storage tanks housed upon their trucks and that water is then pressurised by means of a pumping system onboard the fire truck. The pressure required is in the vicinity of 200 psi (1400 kPa) or in many cases, much higher in order to cater for the distance and/or volume required.

In most circumstances... the fire fighter operates the water flow-control at the nozzle outlet end of the fire hose by a lever mechanism; consequently, each sudden opening and/or closureof the valve operating nozzle-lever will create horrendous hydraulic shock.

In addition… repetitive shockwave spikes result in ongoing damage to the trucks pumping system, piping and fittings.

The upside… of this is that with the installation of our Dual Terminators… a single fire fighter can now operate a hose at a much higher pressure as there would be no spike at all; resulting in the fighter easily hold his stance.

The good news is… that once our appropriate Terminators’ are installed i.e. one at the inlet entry side to the truck, which will control the surge-spike from the fire hydrant and a second on the outlet side of the trucks pump which will control the surge-spike from the pump to the hose outlet-nozzle; both arrestors will completely eliminate all ongoing hydraulic shock spikes 100% effectively.

It is a well-known fact… that banging kthumping and rattling in the walls is the result of water hammer, and predominately caused by rapid closing solenoids in dish and clothes washing machines.

Even short power failures… can trigger catastrophic events in a flowing pipeline system. Whenever a system goes NEGATIVE, a vacuum forms; the fluid oscillates in a reverse direction and gains velocity. This causes pipes to flex or move and other equipment fail in a water hammer saga of the worst form, column separation occurs, compounding the system violence power outages are becoming frequent events.

Storing water during periods of low activity… a surge tank can be engineered to deliver enough water during a power failure to minimize a negative condition. Water Hammer in Steam Generating Systems

One of the main complaints... in steam generation factories is that annoying noise heard as the piping systems’ ongoing steam heat repetitively inducing hydraulic transients resulting in that ka-thumping noises heard as the surging rattles and shakes the piping. This phenomenon is more commonly referred to as water hammer. However, that silent predator can and will produce immeasurable damage, not only the pipe itself but also piping joins, vents, traps, regulators and fixtures.

The expansion rate... is approximately ‘1,500 Times’ greater than its former water volume.

Two different categories... of water hammer can occur in steam systems. One mode of hammer surge is typically caused by condensate water build-up trapped (not unlike a puddle of water on the sidewalk) and lying within low sections of horizontal steam piping.

As the extreme velocity... of steam passes over these low lying sections of the condensate build-ups, the water begins to ripple; consequently, turbulence upsurges until the water creates a solid mass more commonly known as a ‘slug’ this water mass can cause a blockage in the pipe.

Under pressure a slug... of condensate will progress through the piping system (as is it carried by the steam) at the velocity of the steam. Its recklessness can be described as a loose hammerhead coming off its handle as one strikes with immense force. The compressed spike is unlikely to cause a rattling effect through straight-line piping (providing the piping is secured properly by saddles and/or brackets), however, the moment it comes in contact with a diversion such as an elbow, the force of the impact on that bend is so severe that it can smash the elbow to smithereens.

The team has developed…an ‘Arrestor Series’, which completely eliminates all hydraulic shock spikes from steam generation piping systems; this series will also eliminate the possibility of any condensate build-up in the piping system, the arrestor has been designed to remove all condensate as it forms thus preventing from it building up into a large water-mass and thrown through the piping system as a damaging slug. What creates a different mode of water hammer?

The answer is Cavitation… steams bubbles whilst forming or a fulfilled steam bubble hard-presses into a pipe that is crammed with water. When the trapped bubble of steam looses its concealed (latent) heat, the bubble implodes and a barrier of water moves back – the force, which is created, can be relentless.2

Collective Fluid Evaporation

Most people identify solar energy with hot water; however, solar has a variety of applications suitable for residential, commercial and industrial use.

Solar is increasingly used for the purpose of space heating not only in residential dwellings, but also throughout larger commercial and industrial premises.

In the hotter months of the year solar plants generate a great deal more energy than what is required. As a result of these conditions, stagnation occurs; the selective collectors reach temperatures up to 200°C (392°F) and the collective fluid evaporates. In many plants during this evaporation period, a loud noise level combined with severe vibration can be easily recognised resulting in damaging water hammer surge spikes as liquid collector fluid overtakes the areas where the fluid has already evaporated and superheated. The remaining steam bubbles collapse quickly and the liquid segments come in contact at high velocity; this results in an immediate surge of pressure.

INSTALLATION

So easy to install... Do-it-Standing on your Head!

Our Terminators can be fitted... as an inline installation that will suppress a shockwave as it enters from either end of the product, regardless of whether the spike is traveling in the direction of water flow or against the flow.The appropriate Arrestor... should be installed according to the dwellings service pressure and fitted in accordance with the detailed installation Instructions provided in the packaging.The plumber should... initially test the dwellings water pressure by attaching a ‘Pressure Gauge’ to the closest entry point. In most instances this would be the front tap. Once the static pressure has been established the correct model should then be fitted to suit.To allow for areas... where there is no access or it is not possible to install the Terminator inline, we have expanded the scope of use. A simple capping component fixed to one end (either end) of the Terminator will ensure a permanent seal. This will allow it to be installed in a 90-degree Tee-Off position. This additional choice provides more options for the installer to comprehensively capture and suppress Hydraulic Shock within any dwelling layout.Once the appropriate Terminators... are installed, this will ensure the following:a) Stabilise the service pressure in both hot and cold-water services no matter which faucet is activated through your dwelling.b) It will decompress any shockwave that may enter from an adjoining property normalising it as it enters your property.

The serviceable arrestors... are designed to allow maintenance, they also permit the processing of continuing data for operational hours and/or material passed through to be overseen and governed by newly computerized software; established by ‘The Arrestor Team’ in conjunction with the chosen existing transient software.

Note: In most cases all serviceable arrestors are designed as a retrofit, which means that the existing operational arrestor can be exchanged with a serviced replacement in less than 10 minutes, still allowing piping operations to continue unhindered.

Further benefits... of this arrestor series will be immeasurable; as the flow pressure and velocity can have the added advantage of being fully automated. In simple terms, each up-stream arrestors-receiver will immediately register upcoming surge-change data well in advance, thus allowing the down-stream arrestor to automatically adjust pressure to compensate in readiness.

At this time... the arrestor will transmit the precise ongoing data to the receiver of the next down-line arrestor.

DEMONSTRATION FACILITIES

Demo/Test Stand Summary.

We show both… positive and negative Terminators on our ‘test stand’, they are currently in the form of prototypes for residential purposes… they’re slightly larger in diameter and length and their peripheral carapace is deviating from the intended production models; which will exhibit elegance with refined product-lines.The ‘test stand’… has been developed to represent a live situation in a residential dwellings and is connected to a residential water service; and we can demonstrate water hammer effects in both copper and poly piping… this is done when desirable by diverting the water-flow to either the copper-coil or poly-coil, hanging freely and unsecured at the back of the ‘test stand’.

The Positive Terminator… shown on the ‘test stand’ is installed inline and the 2nd we display has one end sealed which, can be installed as a 90-degree Tee-Off to other areas of the ‘test stand’, this prototype also acts as a movable device, which can be temporarily installed to any other area of a dwellings premises. In fact… even when it is installed to say the front or back garden tap, it will also eliminate all shockwaves throughout the entire dwelling.

A Negative Terminator… prototype is also shown on the ‘test stand’, this is installed at 90-degree to the service line.

This arrestor… demonstrates two uses. a) A ‘Shower Combination’ is incorporated on the ‘test stand’; this allows to demonstrate clearly how a shockwave actually presents itself when the tap is opened and closed stopping and starting water flow between the tap and the shower rose.b) In addition… a coiled-copper offshoot installed; allows us to present clearly how a horrific shockwave presents itself when the tap is opened and closed stopping and starting water-flow between the solenoid valve and the spa jet outlets.Note: Positive hydraulic shock = General and Negative = Reverse.

In all the operations… we clearly demonstrate that just ONE of each our positive and negative Terminator units control both positive and negative water hammer shock 100% effectively.

In addition… we have precisely engineered two replicas of both Piston and Diaphragm ‘Off the Shelf’ Arrestors and engineered them as see through versions; utilizing an existing piston and diaphragm and replicating - maintaining exactly the internal dimension of those ‘off the shelf’. We clearly provide live undisputed evidence that it requires 5 to 6 of ‘Off the Shelf’ Arrestors to eliminate water hammer shockwaves.

Being able to see… the working operations of these arrestors at a mere static water pressure of 500 kPa is an added BONUS and clearly portrays why they are so insufficient in their spike-decompression action.

By rapidly opening & closing lever tap on the ‘test stand’ we demonstrate the effects of kinetic energy as the water flow-rate is rapidly stopped and, at that instant it’s clearly visible as witnessed as the copper coil at the back of the ‘test stand’ shakes and rattles noisily; when the water flow is diverted through the polybutylene coil it obviously doesn’t make that metallic rattling noise… but the coils quickly rotates clockwise/anticlockwise trying to release the ‘silent predators’ shockwave… Yes this is an authenticated testimony does poly-does-not expand to absorb shock as continually alleged in all marketing campaigns.

We demonstrate clearly without doubt…how both pos/neg ‘Shock Terminators’ completely suppress (eat up) all hydraulic shock 100% effectively.

It is to be understood…that our entire range ‘Shock Terminators’ will eliminate all surge spikes in any flowing matter of any size piping at any pressure - this breakthrough will certainly be acknowledged and rapidly accepted throughout all Global applications.

Industrial – Commercial (Steam & Condensate)

One of the main complaints... in steam generation factories is that annoying noise heard as the piping systems’ ongoing steam heat repetitively inducing hydraulic transients resulting in that ka-thumping noises heard as the surging rattles and shakes the piping. This phenomenon is more commonly referred to as water hammer. However, this can and will produce immeasurable damage, the pipe itself but also piping joins, vents, traps, regulators and fixtures.

As the extreme velocity... of steam passes over low lying sections of the condensate build-ups, the water begins to ripple; consequently, turbulence upsurges until the water creates a solid mass more commonly known as a ‘slug’ this water mass can cause a blockage in the pipe.

Under pressure… a slug of condensate will progress through the piping system (as is it carried by the steam) at the velocity of the steam. Its recklessness can be described as a like a cannon going off & the shockwaves strike with immense force. The compressed spike is unlikely to cause a rattling effect through straight-line piping (providing the piping is secured properly by saddles and/or brackets), however, the moment it comes in contact with a diversion such as an elbow, the force of the impact on that bend is so severe that it can smash the elbow to smithereens.

Our team developed…a ‘Terminator Series’, which completely eliminates all hydraulic shock spikes from steam generation piping systems; this series will also eliminate the possibility of any condensate build-up in the piping system, the Terminator has been designed to remove all condensate as it forms thus preventing fromit building up into a large water-mass and thrown through the piping system as a damaging slug.

I will challenge… the product authenticity of any manufacturers that currently range residential and light commercial water hammer arrestors for purchase in the Global marketplace… all our tests of those arrestors have been conducted stringently and fairly in live/existing situations… and all have resulted in dismay.

The simply fact is… that it requires 5 to 6 off-the-shelf arrestors to completely eradicate hammer-shock. Now the big shock!! Just one of our arrestors will completely eliminate hydraulic shock 100% effectively in BOTH cold and hot services.
