Looking Forward: Fall 2017It is ‘Back To School’ time once again! Even if you don’t have a student to take to school or walk to the bus stop…you are still in Back To School mode. It is everywhere! When else can you buy reams of three-hole notebook paper and stock up on bananas without having to move your shopping cart? It’s that time again!

e same is true of the church! We are not going to be selling bananas and notebook paper but we are going to invite everyone to consider the ‘next step’ in your faith jour-ney. Do you have a plan and a desire to take a new step of faith for yourself or for your family? is is the time!

Last spring we o ered Fast Track Disciple Bible Study sessions for both the Old Tes-tament and the New Testament. We had such a great response that we had to o er additional sessions.

We will be o ering the same sessions once again this fall. Our goal is to engage people who may not have had a chance to engage the Scriptures to see the full ow of faith as it unfolds in the Old Testament and on into the New Testament. If you participated in one of the sessions last spring, you will now have the chance to switch to the other group so you can get the big picture. If you are new to the study of the bible, you can start on either side.

Cody will be leading the New Testament group while I will be directing the conversa-tion for the Old Testament students. Please plan to come to the 6:00 to 7:00 Wednesday September 13th orientation session to learn more about the process and to sign up for the session of your choice. e groups will meet simultaneously for 12 weeks. In the end, you will have a solid overview of God’s Word.

We will also be focusing on the Christian home and family this fall along with an in depth conversation about the dynamics of our overall journey as followers of Jesus Christ. ere will be outings, picnics and other events that will give us a chance to come together to meet new people and to assure that our Christian home is moving forward with fruitful outcomes. I hope you will be a part of a fun season.

Finally, I would like to invite you all to be in prayer for your church. One of our core faith commitments is to be people of prayer. We pray for our families, we pray for one another, and we pray for the world. In this season, I am inviting everyone to pray for your church.

Please pray around the following three areas. You will think of many more, but please focus on these three: 1) that we would be continually expanding our call to the mission of God, 2) that we would be focused on raising up leaders who will impact the Kingdom of God, and 3) that we God would use us to provide the resources we need to make it all happen. We are grateful for your prayers!

As always, I am looking forward to seeing you on Sunday mornings for worship. ere is really nothing like the Body of Christ when we gather to worship the Lord!

I pray the peace of Christ for you and your family!

Randy Jessen

Everyday Mission Support In Parker Did you know that last year the Parker Task Force (PTF) distributed over 124,000 items of food supporting just over 2,800 client visits to their food bank? PTF is dedicated to providing individuals and families in our community with food, lim-ited nancial assistance, and other support services to help them become self-suf- cient.

You can support this mission by bringing non-perishable food items and leaving them in the food bank containers in the Narthex for our weekly drop o at PTF. Or if you’d like to make a donation, you can write a check to Parker UMC and note ‘PTF’ in the memo and drop it in the collection plate or leave it at the Church O ce.
