Academic Study Time
• There is no perfect formula for determining the proper amount of academic study for each student. It is not unreasonable to expect a student to routinely have academic study each night and some weekends.
• When completing projects, papers, and/or preparing for examinations, the amount of academic study should increase.
Academic Study Time
• The time required for completion of academic study will vary with student ability, class schedule, and proper budgeting of time.
• Students can expect to do homework and/or study each night of the five day school week and on some weekends. This will vary according to the student’s diligence and the rigor of the student’s schedule.
• Students enrolled in honors classes may experience an increase in academic study.

8th Grade Courses
• Please refer to the back of p. 2 of your handout for required and elective courses.
What if my schedule is wrong?
• The master schedule is made on the basis of student course recommendations and elective requests received during registration.
• Normally, scheduling all of your student’s course requests is possible. Should unavoidable conflicts arise, students will be placed in an alternative request.
• If you have questions regarding the level of a required course, please direct those questions to your student’s current teacher.
• All students wishing to take a foreign language must currently be enrolled in 71 LA and recommended by their LA teacher.
Changing Schedules Once School Starts
• Schedules will be adjusted within the first ten (10) days of the fall semester for students who are misplaced in a course. A schedule change request form will be available in the school counseling/main office and online.
• Elective courses will be adjusted within the first ten (10) days of the fall semester. A schedule change request form will be available in the school counseling/main office and online.
• Changes in level can only take place prior to the end of the first quarter (1st 9 weeks) of the term through a collaborative process to include the student, parent, and teacher.
