Dear Taylors Hill Community,
School Library Association of Victoria Award
On Monday the 29th of May, Trudy Smith, Tania Egan and I were presented with Inaugural Primary School Leaders Award from the School Library Association of Victoria. We were nominated for this award by Maria Sartori. This was great recognition for the united approach we have had to supporting the establishment of our wonderful Learning Centre that benefits all of the THPS students. Mrs Sartori and I were also given the opportunity to present the keynote address at the conference to library staff from across the state about Building and Supporting a Primary School Library and how we have gone about that at THPS.

Semester One Student Reports
Teachers at Taylors Hill Primary School have almost finished writing accurate and
informative Student Reports explaining the learning and progress your child has made throughout Terms 1 and 2. There will be NO PRINTED STUDENT REPORTS SENT HOME. You will be able to
access your child’s report through Compass via https://taylorshillps.vic.jdlf.com.au/login.aspx on Friday 23rd June
from 11:00am.
Your child will be assessed against each learning area that is appropriate for their grade level.
Student achievement is assessed against the Victorian Curriculum F-10 achievement standards or the Level A to D continuum to show student progress towards achieving the pre foundation standards.
Each learning area will have an A to E rating. The reporting scale has the following meanings:
~ A - well above the expected standard at this time of year
~ B - above the standard expected at this time of year
* C - at the standard expected at this time of year
~ D - below the standard expected at this time of year
~ E - well below the standard expected at this time of year
Along with this is a chart showing your child’s level of effort and class behaviour.
The class teachers have also written comments about your child’s achievement and skill development in
English and Mathematics. These comments will assist you to understand the rating they have been given in these areas. You will also read comments about your child’s personal and social learning
habits. This area of the report will enable you to gain an understanding of how your child relates to others at school and how they are managing their learning within the classroom.
There will also be comments outlining the future learning goals your child will be working towards in order to enhance their development. A page will also be sent home that has been written by your child, evaluating their own learning.
SPECIALIST CLASSES
Your child will receive a rating and a comment from each of the specialist teachers that have taught your child for The Arts, Physical Education, Science and Italian.
PARENT TEACHER MEETINGS
Parent Teacher Meetings are being held on Tuesday 27th June and Wednesday 28th June between 4:00 and 7:00pm. Please make sure that you have booked a time to see your child’s classroom and specialist teachers. Each meeting is 10 minutes, so please come prepared with questions or areas you wish to talk about so we can make the most of the time we have together.
Please read through the report with your child and discuss the information included. We need to involve the students in this process so that they are fully aware of their achievements and what they need to work on.
We hope you will find these reports informative and useful. If you have any questions regarding the reports, please do not hesitate to ask your child’s class teacher.

Earlier this term Prep students were invited to have breakfast at 8:00am at school. Students came to school in their pyjamas, slippers and robes ready to eat breakfast with their friends from all the Prep classes.
Prior to our Prep Breakfast, students created their very own placemats for their plate and cutlery to go on top. We had cereal, toast, spreads, drinks and fruits available which our students enjoyed.
Students then changed into their school uniforms and showed us all how independent they are. Well done to all our Preps for participating in the first stage of our THPS Camping program. Some comments from our students on the day were:
“Drinking chocolate milk was fun” Lucas – PB
“I liked eating Weetbix” Gabby – PF
“I enjoyed going to school in my pyjamas” Teah PF
