Literary terms

inference: combining what you know with what you read to analyze a storypoint of view: vantage point from which a story is told--first person point of view: narrator is in the story- uses pronouns like "I, me, my"--third person point of view: narrator is not part of the story- uses pronouns like "he, she, they"

*omniscient point of view: narrator knows thoughts and feelings of many characters

*limited point of view: narrator knows thoughts and feelings of main character only

Linking verbs- special kind of verb that links the subject of the sentence to a word that describes or renames it. Think of it as an = sign!
