Over a thousand members of the community came along and enjoyed another one of our unique and exciting ‘Armenian Cultural Day’ programs. Among the distinguished guests was MasterChef - Sedrak Mamulyan, who was invited from Armenia for this special event. Other guests taking part in the program included highly acclaimed singers from Armenia, Ruzan Avetiqyan and Armen Davtyan accompanied by musician Sergey Ayvazyan. The students of Alexander school took centre stage with a wonderful program that had a touch of creativity! They were joined by guest performances by Alvart Apoyan, Zela Margossian-Gaspar, Metin Yilmaz and Adem Yilmas who also accompanied the students during their performance. It was also wonderful to see the performance of Armenian dance groups, including ‘Tamzara’, ‘Tamzara Juniors of Alex Manoogian Saturday School’, ‘Nor Serount’, ‘Hamazkaine Nairi’ and ‘Armenian Sydney Dance Company’. The exhibition in the hall looked wonderful and we all needed to take our time going around the displays to appreciate rich display of traditional Armenian cuisines based on the theme. Let’s not forget the variety of stalls, the delicious food, sweets, exciting games for all the children and the great atmosphere of live music, dance and entertainment! As one of the comments in the visitor’s book states: “Alexander Primary School’s Cultural Day festival is truly a unique journey into Armenian traditions and heritage. A wonderful presentation and brilliantly organised by all involved.” We like to let the photos published in our print and social media to do the rest of the talking. Thank you everyone who contributed to the success of the event. Our special notes of appreciation are listed in the newsletter to all those who made sure the day was a huge success. MASTER CLASS On Wednesday evening, we welcomed over ninety guests including our special visitors from Armenia to extend the ‘Armenian Food Safari’ with a MasterClass cooking demonstration by MasterChef Sedrak Mamulyan. Gemjian Hall had once again been transformed from an exhibition hall to a ‘restaurant’! During this unique occasion, Chef Mamulyan demonstrated and prepared a traditional dish ‘Dabaga Ararat’ before it was served as part of a three-course meal. Once again our overseas guests entertained the audience with popular and traditional Armenian songs to the delight of the audience. A huge congratulations to the P&C and the organising committee for putting together another successful event. 18 th November, 2016 MANOUG DEMIRJIAN
