1.2 Precautions for use
■ In general
Dangerous
Do not finger any temporary power, terminal and operational switch by wet hand.
※It caused shocking when don't protect.
When abnormalities be found, first suspend the driving immediately, then investigate the
cause and dispose it appropriately. But the repairing by customers is dangerous, never
do it, please.
※It caused fire or shocking when don't protect.
When doing the wire connection, maintenance, check and etc., please be sure to go
after the temporary power be cut.
※It caused shocking when don't protect.
■ On using
Attentions
Do not put the switch lever on neutral while operating the short switch.
Please be sure put it on the driving side (the underside) or the stop side (the upper side).
※If not, a strong wind comes and causes the wings on free running (no load running)
to over rotation. So operate the switch promptly to the driving gear or the stopping gear,
one of them over two.
Be careful when opening and shutting the door of the BOX in the field, the door may
swing suddenly with strong wind with risk of finger pinching at the edge of the BOX.
※If not, the accidents, like finger pinching, easily occur.
After finished open the door of the BOX in the field, close the door securely and take the
key.
※If not, rainwater may enter to the BOX, people other than officials may touch the
contents.
■ Maintenance and inspection
Dangerous
Please stay away from the wind turbine itself while driving. For the wind turbine may
turned by wind to unexpected directions.
※If not, there are dangerous of bump and fall. Ask the specialty contractors stop the
wind turbine first, then do the other things.
Doing the high place works, like Inspection operating, when wind gentle.
It is prohibited to work at more than 8 m / s wind speed.
※If not, may be blown down by strong wind, falls and fall risk. Keep wearing the safety
belt always.

2. Operating explanation
This chapter explains the operation of the wind turbine and the controller.
2.1 Operation of the wind turbine …drive, stop
To drive and stop the wind turbine, operate the dynamic braking switch in the BOX attached at
the root of the tower.
There are three units from No. 1 to No. 3. Operate the corresponding wind turbine switch.
During the driving mode, the lever is on "under side". If go stopping, change the lever to "upper side",
then the generator is short-circuited on braking.
Attentions: Do not keep the dynamic braking switch on the intermediate position.
The blade may free run and be damaged.
And push the lever firmly.

3.1 About each parts
Attentions: When inspecting the wind turbine, turn OFF the circuit breaker ⑦ and do the

3.2 About connector
Attentions: When inserting / removing the SD card or the LAN cable which recording the data
of each wind turbine (wind speed, power generation, etc.), turn off the circuit breaker ⑦ and
do the work.

4.1 Maintenance
*General Foundation Japan Small Wind Power Generation Association provides guidance on
maintenance of small wind turbines with the following contents.

4.2 Daily Inspection
Please check following item routinely. When malfunction occurs, stop driving immediately, turn off
the power and contact the manufacturer.
(1)Abnormal noise from the wind turbines
Generally, the wind turbines start to generate when a wind speed reaches 3-4 m/s. Normal
noises, such as a wind noise made by high speed rotary blades, controlling noise from electric
generator, noise from control equipment, have no problem. However, if an abnormal noise was
observed, some kind of damage might be included. Such a damage may be caused by Typhoon
and aging degradation.
① Blade・・Blades might be damaged by Typhoon, object striking, aging degradation, etc.
Sometimes, a damaged blade makes abnormal noise. Visual inspection should be performed
using magnifying glass.
② Electric generator・・A noise from electric generator is made by a control failure and internal
damage of the generator. If the noise is caused by internal damage, a decline of power
generation performance or stopping action of the rotor may be observed simultaneously.
③ Yaw control system・・A noise from yaw control system is made by a damage of a steel ball
of internal bearing. An unordinary rotational motion of diffusers with the noise may indicate a
damage of yaw control system.
④ Diffuser・・Diffusers might be damaged by Typhoon, object striking, aging degradation, etc.
Sometimes the damage of diffusers causes an interference with blades. If the interference
occurs, severe abnormal noise will be made. Diffuser damage is relatively easy to find by a
visual inspection.

(2)Abnormal Vibration of the wind turbines
Diffuser occasionally has a little vibration and sympathetic vibration by change of blade
rotation speed. A little vibration is still under normal condition however looseness of bolt and
nut and abnormal condition of generator and blade could occur in the case of thumping
vibration and sympathetic vibration.
(3)Condition Display on Control Board
When the wind turbines is under abnormal condition, the wind turbines will stop operating,
lump will light up in condition display on control board and alarm will be raised. At that time,
please confirm abnormal information displayed on control board.
(4)Continuous Generation under normal condition
Instant power generation amount and blade rotation speed, etc. are shown timely on control
board during operation.
When past operation condition is checked, the data can be pulled from monitoring
system (※Option). That data such as wind speed, blade rotation speed, power generation
amount and controlling parameter, etc. is recorded in 1 – 3 seconds.
(5)Abnormal Items in Apparent Condition
① Surface Condition of Iron Material
Occasionally, pole of the wind turbines and bolt & nut will be corroded by surrounding
condition and damage before & after installation, etc.
② Plastic Material
Diffuser and blade are made by GFPR material and CFRP material respectively.
However, surface coating color would be changed due to aged deterioration.

4.3 Periodical Inspection
Regarding periodical inspection, the following items are inspected periodically. Timing is
referred to「Inspection Items」in 3.3.1 Maintenance.
(1)Re-Tightening in each Part
Tightened conditions of bolts such as bottom bolt in connection part of blade, terminal
block part, bolt of tower foundation, bolt in connection part of main part of wind turbine and
bolt of controlling part are confirmed.
(2)Abnormal Condition of Electrical Wiring and Plug
A little heat (warm degree normally) in power cable between wind turbine and controlling
board occurs according to operation condition of the wind turbines however this heat is under
normal condition.
Whether visible cable damage, smoke by abnormal heating and abnormal smells, etc.
occur or not is checked. Additionally, twist condition at end of each cable is checked as well.
(3)Confirmation of Inside Condition and Operation Condition of Controlling Board
① Water Exposure
Possibly, water comes into inside of controlling board in case of leaking at control building
although controlling broad is installed into inside of control building. Please take a care of
electrification and damage of base material in case of leaking. ※Please inspected by
qualificator having an electrical engineering work in case of inspection of inside condition of
controlling board.
② Operation Condition of Controlling Board
Operation conditions of protection functions, which the wind turbines stops operating
according to controlling procedures, are confirmed.
(4)Surface Coating Condition
Whether corrosion at surface of iron material and damage at coating part occur or not
are confirmed.
(5)Application of Grease and fueling
Maintenance for bearing of shaft of generator is free basically because the bearing is
sealed type of grease.
(6)Measurement of Insulation Resistance
Insulation resistance of generator is measured periodically because it reduces according
to performance deterioration.
Insulation resistance reduces temporally due to high humidity at surrounding condition.
However, in this case, it is recommended to re-measure it after generator dries.

4.4 Brief Distinguishing Way for Trouble Causes
Brief Distinguishing Way for trouble causes between wind turbine and controlling
device
Most inquiries from the market are related to moving of blade.
Blade rotation stops temporarily under special condition such as strong wind. However there
might be a trouble in an electrical facility or wind turbine when its stop continues for a long
period. In this case, please set the manual switch (refer to the below figure) for electrical short
circuit in box located at bottom of tower in the middle point and there might be a trouble in an
electrical facility when wind turbine rotates swiftly.
In the case of the multi-type of the wind turbines, there are 3 units of wind generators.
Therefore all the switches (3 units) are set likely as previously described.
※Please return to the base position immediately after finishing this confirmation. Generator
can start operating when switch moves to the bottom side and be at the short circuit condition
when switch moves to the upper side.
