Welcome to the 6th running of the Oakland Running Festival.

We are excited to host this event once again in 2015. When we started this event in 2010, some people said it would never last. Well here we are as we happily await the 6th running of the Oakland Running Festival! The has become a huge success with more than 9,000 runners this year and tremendous community support. The event has generated more than $11 million in economic impact and $1 million for local charities.

We are excited to show you why our event won the People’s Choice award for Best Race in the West by readers of Competitor Magazine, was featured in Runner’s World, and consistantly receives ratings of 95% or more for participants willing to recommend our race to a friend.

We are gearing up for another great year. We will once again have our center of race day activities in Snow Park, located just off the shores of majestic Lake Merritt. This location provides us plenty of open green space to allow our runners, fans and sponsors plenty of elbow room as they celebrate their accomplishments.

This packet includes important information that will prepare you for the events and activities surrounding race day. If you have entered the Oakland Marathon, Kaiser Permanente Half-Marathon, Hawaiian Airlines Team Relay, Bank of the West 5K or Lucky Kids Fun Run, it is extremely important that you thoroughly read all of the information in this booklet carefully.

All additional race materials will be available for pick-up at the Kaiser Permanente Health & Fitness Expo at Oakland Marriott City Center on March 21. Remember Runner Packets are available for pick-up during these times ONLY; there will be NO Registration or Runner Packet Pick-Up on Sunday.

On-line confi rmation of your entry is available on the Oakland Running Festival website. You can search the database of all registered runners to fi nd out who is participating in this year’s race. For more information and to view your confi rmation, visit our website atwww.OaklandMarathon.com.

Race Day Weather InformationIn Oakland, the average temperature in March at the start time is 50 degrees and the average temperature at 2pm is 62 degrees. Races are held rain or shine. Get the lastest updates on race day wearther with any one of our amazing media partners.

Tips for SpectatorsWe encourage all runners to invite their family and friends to join them at the event. We will have plenty of activities to entertain even the non-runners while they wait for you to fi nsih the race. Here are some tips for a good fan: 1) Wear Comfortable Shoes. There are several excellent viewing points but you may walk further than some runners! 2) Come up with a few things to shout at the runners as they pass. “You’re almost there” should not be one of them unless you are within the fi nal .2 mile stretch! 3) Make lots of noise- cowbells are great, but pots & pans work too!

Community Sports PartnerRunning for a Better Oakland (RBO) is a non-profi t organization that encourages 5th – 12th grade Oakland students to develop healthy lifestyles through running. By building confi dence, setting goals, providing training and encouragement, RBO will give students the values for achievement and hard work that they can draw on for all areas of their lives. More than 100 RBO athletes will be competing in this year’s event. Be sure to cheer their accomplishments should you see them on the course on race day.
