REALCAT consists of a high-throughput platform, unique in the world, devoted to innovation in heterogeneous, homogeneous catalysis and biocatalysis as well as their combination under the ultra-efficient novel concept of “hybrid catalysis”.

At full capacity, REALCAT is able to cover each of the steps of a catalyst development: The platform is actually equipped with robots for automated synthesis of catalysts and biocatalysts, rapid characterization tools, and ultra-fast tools for catalytic performance evaluation.

At REALCAT, high-throughput techniques are most often combined with statistical methods

(i.e. experimental designs) in order to carry out the development of new catalytic processes in an even more streamlined and rapid manner. This has the advantage of reducing the number of tests required while ensuring excellent reliability and reproducibility of the results obtained.

With its extraordinary potential, REALCAT stands as a leading stakeholder in all the domains related to catalysis such as environment, energy, health or nutrition. Irrespective of your project, REALCAT is open to external users, including academic and/or industrials. This versatile platform is open to research collaborations or provisions of services, with respective staggered access fees under a secured and confidential environment. The only limitation of this fantastic tool is your imagination.

One of the major fundamental scientific projects underlying the REALCAT creation consists in the development of a new scientific field called “hybrid catalysis”. This concept comprises the one-pot coupling of biotechnological catalytic systems with chemical catalysts to take advantages from both technologies. The combination of bio- and chemo-catalysis offers new perspectives for reaching outstanding performances in the frame of an eco-friendly design.

Today, REALCAT offers to the researchers involved in R & D in catalysis, research collaborations or services in line with their needs. The proposed formulas are flexible and may include, for example, experimental work done on REALCAT by your own collaborators.

The platform includes :

Robots for the automated synthesis of chemo-, bio- and hybrid catalysts. A complete range of rapid characterization tools for chemicals and biochemicals. A serie of tools for the evaluation of the catalyts performances, including versatile

parallel continuous and batch reactors and bioreactors, combined with ultra-fast on-line analytical tools at the top of the state-of-the-art for products analysis.
