• A game developer is a person who creates an entertaining, and interactive video game.
• The job includes modeling art for characters, music, coding, 3D animation, and artificial intelligence.
• Games range from Strategy, to action, to even card games.
WORKING AS A DEVELOPER
• Working as a developer takes long hours. 9 to 10 hours in a day, are spent at a computer and 40 to 50 hours are spent working in a week. Overtime is just common.
• Mostly coding and art work are done in a daily task.
• Responsibilities are to carry out the work that is handed to you.
Salary
• Salary is between $35k and $100k
• If you are a freelancer you may earn less.
• Experienced developers can make over 100k a year.
Training and Education
• Computer programming
• Computer graphics
• 3D animation programs
• These three things may be needed in order to become a game developer. It is required that you have a associates or bachelors degree if joining a company.
Exam
• Companies may test you on your capabilities to do things. Such as basic coding or other tasks.
• It all comes down to personality of the company itself.
• Other than that there's no license required.
How do you start off?
• How to start off is the big question. People usually start off by making small little games, and making portfolios.
• Not usually do people get into big studios.
• A lot of people are recruited to make certain games for consoles, computers, or even apps for phones.
Forecast and Outlook
• This career can be available with anyone who has a work space, internet, computer, knowledge of animation, and coding. Also you have to have the certain tools and or software to do so.
Predicted career growth and Stability
• Part of the economy is getting a job, also paying for the things you want to buy. Games are a big part of every countries economy because, so many people buy them for entertainment purposes.
• The stability of the job is not going to diminish. Gaming has been around for a long time and new technology is being found everyday. Unless we all go extinct or get over ran by robots, than personally I don’t see this industry dying.
Economically.
• You are going to spend about 75% of your income on the software and processing of the game. You will profit if the game is good.
• Though if you don’t have the time, money, or tools to do so, then your out of luck.
Opportunities
• There are a lot of opportunities out there for a game developer.
• Gaming developers can become IT’s, software engineers, and other things dealing with computers.
• Also they can make animations for children's movies.
• They can become these things because they already have the basic knowledge of programming.
Why do I want to become a Game developer?
• Reasons why I want to become a developer is because the satisfaction on peoples faces.
• Games usually have a lot of imagination to them. To put your own thoughts or childish imagination into a game and then play it, is a amazing feeling.
• Also the reason why I want to be a game developer is, because I have a chance to make a amazing interactive game that anyone can play.
Gaming Industry itself
As you can see the Gaming industry has increased from the Atari till now. Gaming industry ranges from 10 – 20 billion dollars in revenue
world wide.
Why does this career fit me?
• Personally: I am very imaginative, I love technology, and I am intelligent.
• Lifestyle: This career fits my lifestyle because I already sit at my computer everyday or console, playing video games since I was 3.
• Disadvantages: being irritated by the coding of the game.
• Advantages: Money, satisfaction of the game, working with people, and working with technology.
