FOLLOW-UP ARTICLE FOR “A GATHERING OF EAGLES” APRIL 18, 2015 HELLO Friends of Benavides Connect, the class of ’61 is hard at work to put this event together in
Benavides.
It is being planned with the twofold purpose of first, recognizing our teachers, coaches, counselors
and other educators. We will also make a formal presentation to the Benavides Independent School
District. Secondly, the class of ‘61 will honor and recognize classmates, living and deceased, who
served in our military services during the VietNam Era.
HELP! The sub-committee planning the portion of this event in which we will honor our
Benavides Military Heroes, once again requests the help from any veteran, family member, or friend
of a graduate from the classes 1958 through 1964 who served in the military. Specifically, we ask
that you please provide us with the name of the graduate you know, who served during the VietNam
era, whether they are living or deceased. If you know the branch of service in which he or she
served, we would greatly appreciate you letting us know that information. With your help, we want
to finish developing the most complete list possible, so all these brave men and women receive
recognition at our event. Your help is sincerely appreciated and we thank you in advance for your
support. See attached rosters. You may email that information to Alfonzo Ramirez Jr
at: [email protected] or Amando Gonzalez at: [email protected] or you may post
(comment) the information in Benavides Connect. Our sincere Big THANK YOU! to Chumbe of
Benavides Connect for publishing our announcements to get this and other information to you.
NOTE: Because we must send our completed rosters to our Programs Printer early, please send us
any additional names no later than March 31. Thanx for your help on this.
Also, we will indeed be honored to have a special Military Guest, Lt General Marc Cisneros, with us
at our event on April 18. Therefore, we are encouraging our honored military service personnel to
wear suits with ribbons/ awards racks, or awarded medals. This is an optional dress suggestion, but
we know that’s what the General is wearing, so we want to complement his attire if at all possible.
(Good for Pictures too!) For your information, you will find all your authorized awards and ribbons
listed on your DD Form 214, Certificate of Discharge. Then, if you cannot find all your medals, you
have time to order them through: www.medalsofamerica.com. All branches of services are available
there. God Bless America!
The Rosters (Information Requested)
The information you provide should include the name (first/last) of the individual; the Service
(SERV) Component the person served (USA, USMC, USN, USAF, Reserves, Nat’l Guard, and TX
Nat’l Guard, etc.). If the person you provide information for is deceased, please indicate that status with a "D".
"You may email information to Alfonzo Ramirez Jr at: [email protected] or Amando Gonzalez
at: [email protected]. OR you may post it as a comment if you don't mind others seeing
your information, or you can send it as a message to Amando Gonzalez via Facebook!"
