Step 2 Position a 2-1/2-inch GREEN #1 squareon the right corner of a 2-1/2 x 5-1/2-inchBEIGE rectangle. Draw diagonal line onsquare; stitch on line, trim, and press. Sew a2-1/2 x 3-1/2-inch BEIGE rectangle to rightedge of unit; press.
Step 3 Sew Step 2 stem units to top edge ofStep 1 pumpkin units; press. At thispoint each pumpkin block should measure8-1/2 x 10-1/2-inches.
Step 4 Sew together pumpkin blocks and2-1/2 x 10-1/2-inch BEIGE rectangles;press. At this point the pumpkin sectionshould measure 10-1/2 x 22-1/2-inches.

PiecingNote: Instructions direct you to make one leaf block usingGREEN #1 fabric. Repeat the steps to make remainingleaf blocks.
Step 1 With right sides together, layer 2-7/8-inchGREEN #1 square and 2-7/8-inch BEIGEsquare. Press together, but do not sew.Cut layered square in half diagonally tomake 2 sets of triangles. Stitch 1/4-inch fromdiagonal edge of each triangle set; press.Sew the triangle-pieced squares together. Sew2-1/2-inch GREEN #1 square to left edge ofthe unit; press. At this point the unit should
measure 2-1/2 x 6-1/2-inches.
Step 2 Position a 2-1/2-inch BEIGE square on theleft corner of a 2-1/2 x 6-1/2-inch GREEN #1rectangle. Draw diagonal line on square; stitch
on line, trim, and press.
Step 3 Position a 2-1/2-inch BEIGE squareon the left corner of a 2-1/2 x 4-1/2-inch
GREEN #1 rectangle. Draw diagonal lineon square; stitch on line, trim, and press.
Step 4 To make stem unit, center a BEIGE triangleon 1 x 5-inch GREEN #1 rectangle andstitch a 1/4-inch seam. Center anotherBEIGE triangle on opposite edge ofGREEN #1 rectangle; stitch. Press seamallowances toward GREEN #1 rectangle.Trim stem unit so it measures 2-1/2-inches
square. Sew stem unit to right edge of Step 3unit; press. At this point the unit shouldmeasure 2-1/2 x 6-1/2-inches.
Step 5 Lay out Step 1, Step 2, and Step 4 units, sewtogether, and press. At this point the leaf blockshould measure 6-1/2inches square.
Step 6 Using remaining GREEN #2, GREEN #3,GOLD FLORAL, and RUST fabrics,repeat Steps 1 through 5 to make additionalleaf blocks.
Step 7 Sew together 3 leaf blocks and 2 of the2-1/2 x 6-1/2-inch BEIGE rectangles; press.Repeat to make another leaf section. At thispoint each maple leaf section should measure6-1/2 x 22-1/2-inches.

Step 6 Sew together leaf blocks and 1-1/2 x 8-1/2-inch BLACK rectangles;press. Sew 2-1/2 x 26-1/2-inch BLACKstrip to top edge of leaf unit; press. At thispoint the oak leaf section should measure10-1/2 x 26-1/2-inches.
Borders & QuiltCenter AssemblyNote: Yardage given allows for border strips to becut on crosswise grain. Diagonally piece strips asneeded.
Attaching BordersStep 1 Attach 1-1/2-inch wide BLACK inner border
strips to pumpkin/leaf quilt center.
Step 2 Attach 1-1/2-inch wide GOLD PRINTsecond inner border strips. At thispoint the quilt center should measure26-1/2-inches square.
Step 3 Sew oak leaf section (Step 6) to bottom edgeof quilt center; press.
Step 4 Attach 1-1/2-inch wide BLACK middle borderstrips. At this point the quilt center shouldmeasure 28-1/2 x 38-1/2-inches.

CuttingFrom BLACK PRINT:
• Cut 4, 2-7/8 x 44-inch strips
From RUST/GREEN PRINT:• Cut 4, 2-7/8 x 44-inch strips• Cut 5, 5-1/2 x 44-inch outer border strips
Assemble and Attach BordersStep 1 Attach 5-1/2-inch wide RUST/GREEN
PRINT outer border strips.
Step 2 With right sides together, layer 2-7/8 x 44-inchBLACK and RUST/GREEN PRINT stripstogether in pairs. Press together, but do notsew. Cut layered strips into squares. Cutlayered squares in half diagonally to make 90sets of triangles. Stitch 1/4-inch from diagonaledge of each set of triangles; press.
Step 3 For side sawtooth borders, sew together 24triangle-pieced squares; press. Make 2 borderstrips. Sew sawtooth borders to side edges ofquilt center; press. For top/bottom sawtoothborders, sew together 21 triangle-piecedsquares; press. Make 2 border strips. Sewsawtooth borders to top/bottom edges of quiltcenter; press.
Note: To prevent the sawtooth edges from stretchingduring the quilting process, we suggest stitching a scant1/4-inch from the edge of the quilt.
Putting It All TogetherCut 2-2/3 yard length of backing fabric in half crosswiseto make 2, 1-1/3 yard lengths.
