WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA 350!Well, you embraced this new project! The 350 wreaths you caused to be sponsored helped to complete the mission at the East Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery on Lyons View Pike. Every Veteran buried there will be honored by a volunteer who will place the wreath, step back and say the name on the headstone.

You can help on Saturday, December 14th when BRENDA STATON, Wreaths Across America coordinator for Lyons View, will organize volunteers to place almost 5,000 wreaths. Parking will be at Lakeshore Park at the baseball fields. Ride the shuttle to the cemetery. The brief ceremony starts at Noon. She needs your help to distribute wreaths to the volunteers – think FISH. Same deal. You make wreaths available, the volunteers take them and place them, then come back for more. We should be done by 2:00 pm.

TO be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

TO talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

TO make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

TO look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

TO think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

TO be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

TO forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

TO wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

TO give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

TO be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

PICSSome pretty special high school seniors are making a difference in their respective schools and their community. Service to Humanity honorees heard from Knox County School Superintendent BOB THOMAS and RUSS JENSEN, representing Knoxville City Mayor MADELINE ROGERO. Salute to JOHN MEADE for his superb presentation of the honorees.

Double Dogs was the site. The conversation had to do with upcoming football games. The decision: The Ohio State University, Auburn University and the University of Tennessee would all be victorious. Michigan, Alabama and Vanderbilt obviously got the memo!

President BEN says, “We have cheese”! A two-pound block of Mild Cheddar in a box suitable for gifting is just $13.50 per box. If you prefer last year’s (aged) cheese, we still have 60 boxes available. Contact DAVID HARTER if you would like the "seasoned" version. 865-250-1511

We have shirts! Tees are $20.00 – collared are $25.00. See VEE or CHRIS COX for yours. Change jars on the tables help you get rid of pesky pennies and nuisance nickels. Change jars. That’s what it is all about – change. Change from a world where cancer ravages our children to one where it does not. That’s a change worth the investment.
