From Father Jim “The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.” The simple questions St. Paul asked his Christian community at Corinth are directed to us on this great day for our Catholic community. The danger of routinely approaching the altar and receiving the Eucharist is shaken as we read his important questions. People wait hours to catch a glimpse of a hero, a star, or idol. Thousands gather in St. Peter’s square weekly to see the Holy Father, hear his message and receive his blessing. Every time we meet for mass, Jesus is present in the gift of the Eucharist. He is present for adoration in the tabernacle, waiting for our praise and thanksgiving. Jesus is present in this sacrament for He wanted to remain with us, and this is the way He chose to be here. May we be reminded of this great gift of His presence as we enter our church. May we teach our children the need for respect and reverence as we celebrate each mass. The simple questions St.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Make sure to register your children for this year’s exciting VBS adventure, “Maker Fun Factory: Created by God; Built for a Purpose”

Children’s Liturgy of the WordThere is no more Children’s Liturgy of the

Word until the Fall. Have a wonderful summer!!

The 2017 Annual Catholic Appeal was conducted in all diocesan parishes the weekend of April 29 th. Immaculate Conception is truly blessed with many generous people, who, despite economic challenges, have supported this year’s campaign with pledges and gifts. To date, $87,404 has been received representing 94% of our parish’s $93,000 goal! 100% of all funds raised OVER our target goal are given back to the parish; however, we ask that you remember that the parish has to make up for any shortfall in funds. We are so close to our target goal!

Your participation is gratefully appreciated! If you have not yet done so, please consider supporting this important effort! Annual Appeal pledge cards are still available in the entrances of the churches.

The diocesan Annual Catholic Appeal provides financial support that enables more than 30 ministries throughout our diocese. The Appeal is an effective way for the diocese to aid the mission of Christ: to feed and house the poor; to minister to the sick and discouraged; to educate our young; and encourage strong, healthy families. If you would like more information about the Annual Catholic

Appeal, go to www.cdow.org and click on Giving - Annual Catholic Appeal. God bless you for your goodness!
