City Notice
It is always hard to send out letters regarding ordinance violations and is not a favorite thing for staff to complete. For the safety of our community, family, children and friends, it is
very important to have your pets licensed with the City of Oronoco. Per the Oronoco City Codes 503.2.4 & 503.6.2. All
dogs and cats within the city limits must be licensed. Licenses are $5.00 per tag with proof of current shots. At this time
licenses are due every January . No more than 3 animals are allowed per household, which include cats not only dogs. This is important , for example, when a pet gets lost so we can identify the owner, Or if a resident gets bit, we can verify with the Police
Department the animal is up to date on shots. If you have not registered this year, Please register your Dog and/or Cat at City
Hall with your current vaccination form.
Per Oronoco City Codes 503.2.1 and 503.2., please leash or fence in your yard for all animals. This will prevent animals
from leaving the yard and any debate where your animals are and assures the safety of all involved. After a letter has been sent out, if there are any further code violations, the City of Oronoco
and/or the Olmsted County Sherriff’s Department will issue a citation and/or fines dependent on the code violation. You may also be responsible for any fees or property damage related to
these violations. Continued violation of City codes may also result in the seizure of an animal in accordance with Oronoco
City Code 503.7.
For more information, please see the Oronoco website or call City Hall at 367-4405. Thank you for helping make our
community a better one.

way mowed and clear of bushes and trees
for the safety of the community.

trees obstructs the vision for
cars and pedestrians. Tall weeds attract rodents
and blocks visibility. Please check the City Code on the
Oronoco Website for further information.
City Notice
It has come to the City of Oronoco’s attention that
residents and businesses are burning rubbish/garbage. It
is against the City Code to burn anything that is not wood
or a natural heating source you would put in your
fireplace for warmth.
Oronoco City Code Violation 502.9.7 Burning Debris: It
shall be unlawful for any person to burn any garbage,
trash, debris, industrial/commercial waste or byproduct, or
dead animal, except as may be specifically provided by
this section. This section does not apply to wood, corn, or
similar items burned in a furnace or fireplace for the
primary purpose of generating heat for a residence.
502.14.2 Penalty for Violation: A violation of this section
shall be a misdemeanor offense punishable by a fine of up
to $1000 or up to 90 days in jail or both.
Please acquire a Burn Permit at City Hall before burning.
You must always call in before burning to make sure it is
still safe to burn because of things like state wide burn
bans.
A list of fire safety burning is on your Burning Permit of
what is not acceptable to burn, such as: oil, rubber,
plastics, tires, treated lumber, insulation, tin, sheet rock,
etc.
Thank you for considering your neighbors and community
in keeping our city safe and clean.
