Cardinal Term Beginning January 10, 2011 Cardinal Term revives the tradition of William Jewell’s informal“Winterim,” a series of courses that were taught in January between falland spring semesters prior to 1995. The noncredit courses, which beginon January 10, feature a wide variety of topics. Seminar length and

format will vary by topic and instructor; both day and evening sessionsare scheduled. A full schedule of Cardinal Term courses, dates and timeswill be announced this fall. All sessions are open to the public.

David Nelson DukeUndergraduate Colloquium Friday, April 15 “Celebrating the Life of the Mind:A Day of Undergraduate Scholarship and Creativity” involvesstudents presenting their scholarly works to faculty, staff and the community at large throughoral presentations, performing and visual arts, public speaking and readings of creative writing.

The day-long colloquium allows students from all academic disciplines to receiverecognition for their unique ideas andstudies. Classes are suspended so that all members of the community can participate. The public is invited toattend the free events held at venues campus-wide.

Commencement Saturday, May 14 The Celebration of Commencement honors the achievements of Jewell students as they complete their Jewell Journeys and begin a new chapter in their lives. Baccalaureate service is at 9 a.m. in John GanoMemorial Chapel; commencement is at 1 p.m. in the Mabee Center forPhysical Education.

Performing ArtsHarriman-Jewell SeriesEach season, the Harriman-Jewell Series provides opportunities for thecommunity to interact with internationally renowned performingartists in informal settings that include master classes and “conversa-tions” with the performers. AthleticsA Winning Tradition

The William Jewell College Cardinals enjoy a championship athletic tradition that stretches back more than a century. Greene Stadium andthe Mabee Center are great venues to watch Jewell’s teams compete.The College fields 16 varsity teams including football, men’s basketball,women’s basketball, baseball, women’s softball, men’s soccer, women’ssoccer, women’s volleyball, women’s and men’s track and field, men’sand women’s cross country, women’s and men’s tennis, women’s andmen’s golf and the Cardinal Spirit Team.

In addition to success on the courts and fields of play, academic suc-cess is a core value of William Jewell College athletics. Year after yearJewell student-athletes achieve regional and All-American academicstatus. Every fall Greene Stadium is also the home for Liberty HighSchools’ home football games.
