WORKSHOPWorkshop on

31st August 20169:45 am

An overwhelming response was seen in this workshop as many groupsparticipated in model making and testing.

Initially the aeromodelling expert Mr. Vivek Vagas presented the detailsregarding how aeromodel is made and how it is used in aeroplanes. Hediscussed at length in seminar hall where faculties and participantstudents were present. It was a very good interactive session.

Later the students groups made model out of soft wood under theguidance of expert and it was tested in the seminar hall itself.

Later dignitaries were invited on the ground for model testing andcompetition event. Here different groups participated and attemptedtheir model on open ground. The best models who had longest flightfrom the table meant for takeoff were declared winners.

SPEECH BY CHIEF GUEST:-

Prof. Dr. P V Ramana, Head, Mech. Dept., SVIT, Vasad There was a brief introduction about the Chief Guest. He gave an inspiring speech wherein he encouraged the students and

congratulated the institute for organizing such events like Yantrika whichhelps student to participate in tech as well as non-tech events.

He emphasized the importance of gaining technical knowledge by meansof such events along with regular curriculum for overall progress andbetter future prospects of students.

At the end of speech he mentioned that Yantrika is organized every yearat the institute and then declared the event to be open.

TECHNICAL EVENTS OF 1ST SEPTEMBER 2016:-

1. Blind Rider:-The event motive was to make any floating object operated by remote.Individual participation was allowed wherein he has to tie a ribbons on his eyesand volunteer guide him to operate the object on path.

Participants, Faculties and Dignitaries during the event

2. Mech-Dart:-The event uses the basic knowledge of Mechanical related fundamental likemass, velocity, density, viscosity etc. The event starts with dart game andcontinues with explanation of each term.

3. Contraption:-Contraption is the process (chain reaction) undergoing number of steps orlevels showing different mechanisms and energy conversions. Here you candevelop complex contraption by using elementary engineering principles toperform task.

Participants during Contraption held in Workshop-Mech. Dept.

4. Bow & Gun:-In this event each team has to make bow and arrow or gun by using anymechanism. Basic competition has following points.

There were three round: Distance check round Force check round Aim check round

Groups were given two attempts to clear 1st round. Group has to clearaverage distance to clear first round.

In second round, pyramid of glasses were arranged. Only two attemptswere allowed. A participant has to aim the pyramid to hit maximumnumber of glasses so that they fall out from the pyramid. Top threeperformances were considered eligible for last round.

There were three attempts provided for last round to aim an archeryboard. The attempts were equally distributed in group members.

5. Model Presentation:-This event was meant to explore students creativity by making a prototypeobject or model, which is operated by some simple mechanism which is eitherhand operated or motor operated. Event requirement was that model must bein running condition.

6. Inventor:-

The main aim of this event was to develop Mechanical skills on any givensubject by the student and in which participants have to make modelfrom the waste material in limited time.

The judges gave scores according to their group best model.

7. Presentation:- In this event, the participants presented their presentation on the stage

of Ramanujan Hall in front of the judges Prof. Avdhoot Jejurkar, Prof.Devendra Patel and Prof. Divyesh Dave and marks were given according

to various aspects involved in the presentations like presentation skill, depth of topic, contents covered, involvement with audience, etc. Thewinners were selected by the judges.

The event was related to fundamentals and updates in fields likeMechanical, Civil, Electrical, Computer, etc.

There were different types of topic to select any one topic out of it andpresent in PPT, CHART, POSTER, OR PAPER.

NON-TECHNICAL EVENTS OF 2nd SEPTEBMER 2016:-

8. Pakka Mitro:- This was a non-technical event where the compatibility of friends would

be tested. This is basically fun event where participant would participate in group

of three. This event is sequel of previous event named FRIEND'S LAB oftech fiesta YANTRIKA 2K14.

The points were allotted on the basis of compatibility between membersof a group.

9. Angry Bird:-

Participants during the event

10.Tug of war:-This event was same as old days competition between two teams to pullthe rope and who so ever crosses the marked line and gets pulled byother team loses

Tug of War – Participants included students and Faculties

11.Hit & Run:- This event is the tradtional game of Sattodiyu. One team hits the target of 7 stones in form of pile and opposite

team tries to runout any one of the team member by hitting theball to win.
