PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL FOR THE DAY OF PRAYER FOR PEACE IN OUR COMMUNITIES

For an end to the violence perpetrated by harsh words, deadly weapons, or cold indifference. May our

homes, our nation, and countries around the world become havens of peace, let us pray to the Lord.

For the grace to see every human being as a child of God, regardless of race, language or culture, let us

pray to the Lord.

For the wisdom to receive the stories and experi-ences of those different from ourselves and to re-

spond with respect, let us pray to the Lord.

For the strength to teach our children how to resolve differences non-violently and respectfully, and the

courage to model it in our own behavior, let us pray to the Lord.

For our faith community, that we may celebrate and welcome the diverse faces of Christ in our worship,

our ministries, and our leaders, let us pray to the Lord.

For our faith community, that we may respond boldly to the Holy Spirit's call to act together to end violence

and racism, let us pray to the Lord.

For healing and justice for all those who have experi-enced violence and racism, let us pray to the Lord.

For the protection of all police and first responders who risk their lives daily to ensure our safety; for fair and just policing that will promote peace and wellbe-ing in all our neighborhoods, let us pray to the Lord.

For our public officials, that they will strive to work for fair education, adequate housing, and equal opportu-nities for employment for all, let us pray to the Lord.

For our parish, that we may cultivate welcome, ex-tend hospitality, and encourage the participation of

people of all cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds, let us pray to the Lord.

For the courage to have difficult conversations about racism, and for a better appreciation of how our

words and actions – or even our silence – can impact our communities, let us pray to the Lord.

For solidarity in our global human family, that we may work together to protect those who are most vulner-

able and most in need, let us pray to the Lord.

Prayer to St Joseph

Protect, O Holy Guardian, this our nation.

Enlighten those responsible for the common good, so that they might know — like you do — how to care for those entrusted to their responsibility.

Grant intelligence of knowledge to those seeking ade-quate means for the health and physical well-being of their brothers and sisters.

Sustain those who are spending themselves for those in need, even at the cost of their own safety: volunteers, nurses, doctors who are on the front lines in curing the sick.

Bless, O St Joseph, the Church: beginning with her ministers, make her the sign and instrument of your light and your goodness.

Accompany, O St Joseph, our families: with your prayerful silence, create harmony between parents and their children, in a special way with the youngest.

Preserve the elderly from loneliness: grant that no one might be left in desperation from abandonment and dis-couragement.

Comfort those who are the most frail, encourage those who falter, intercede for the poor.

With the Virgin Mother, beg the Lord to liberate the world from every form of pandemic.

Amen.

Saint Joseph Music Notes

It is a pleasure to reopen the church doors to the faithful once again. Today's Entrance hymn, ―Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken,‖ reflects

this great joy at entering the house of the Lord; we can together once again, "with salvation's walls surrounded" drink from "the streams of living waters," the grace that flows from the altar of sacrifice, after our forty days of exile in quarantine and self-isolation. While congregational singing is as yet not permitted in the sacred liturgy during this pilot phase, let us rejoice all the same in the opportunity to receive God’s grace and be once more present at the holy mysteries.
