Welcome

Call to Worship

Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth. People: I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Leader: This inheritance to which we are born is one that nothing can destroy or spoil or wither. People: As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear God. As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you, says the Lord.

Opening Prayer

*Hymn 463 Recorded January 2019 “How Firm a Foundation” FOUNDATION *Those who desire may stand.

Prayer of Confession Holy God, you see us as we are, and know our inmost thoughts. We confess that we are unworthy of your gracious care. We forget that all life comes from you and that to you all life returns. We have not always sought or done your will. We have not lived as your grateful children, nor loved as Christ loved us. Apart from you, we are nothing. Only your grace can sustain us. Lord, in your mercy, forgive us, heal us, and make us whole. Set us free from our sin, and restore to us the joy of your salvation now and forever. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.

Words of Forgiveness Leader: Friends, hear and believe the good news of the gospel: People: We are saved by grace through faith. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Family Remembrances

Affirmation of Faith Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and friend, CHARLOTTE DIANE ''Diane'' MARTIN PARRY was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on March 2, 1952. A childhood resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and then, adult resident of O'Fallon Ill, San Antonio TX, San Diego CA, Biloxi MS, New Orleans/Metairie LA, and finally after Hurricane Katrina, of Plano TX, Diane died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family on March 6th, 2021 at Plano TX. Parry, Charles Parry and Griffith Parry; niece Caitlyn Weeks and Nephew Sherman Weeks. Diane was predeceased by her parents and her brother John Henry Martin.

Diane was educated in the public schools of Baton Rouge, LA, graduating in 1970 from Broadmoor High School. She received her B.A. in Interior Design from Louisiana State University in 1974. Diane was a talented interior designer whether in the commercial or private sector, or designing her various home interiors. While her three sons were young, she made the decision to put her professional career aside and to concentrate on raising her family. Since that decision, Diane's life thereafter revolved around her family and volunteering her musical, design, organizational and leadership abilities to her churches, her PEO chapters, the Louisiana Presbytère, the Church Music Institute, and the Plano Chorus.

At Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church of Dallas, TX, Diane served as Piano Accompanist for the PHPC Jubilate Choir, was a Sanctuary Choir Member, Coordinator of Memorial Reception Hostesses, and Moderator and Lesson Leader of the Presbyterian Women Circle. At John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Metairie, LA, Diane served as Children's Choir Director, part-time church organist, on the Committee on Ministry for the Presbytery of South Louisiana, as Ruling Elder of JCPC, on the Interim Pastor Nominating Committee, on the Building Committee, and the Organ Search Committee. Through Diane's love of music, she had the immense blessing of singing at The Vatican, and at Durham Cathedral in England, and also at St. Giles Cathedral and St. Matthew's Episcopal in Edinburgh, Scotland. Additionally, Diane is the current Vice Chair of the Church Music Institute where she also serves on the Board of Directors, and where she designed the current offices for CMI. In her Chapter FV P.E.O.,

Diane has served in many capacities culminating as President. Diane has been a Board Member of the Shoal Creek Villas Home Owners' Association. She served as President of the LSU Health Sciences Center Faculty Wives Club in New Orleans, and she was also Glee Club Director of the Newcomers Club of New Orleans. Diane was an accomplished chef and loved to entertain, and especially enjoyed hosting her annual Mardi Gras parties in Plano. She also was a devoted gardener and enjoyed attending the annual meetings of the Southern Garden History Society. Friends from Diane's early years remember Diane as a person with a great sense of humor and acerbic wit, a person of great musical talent whether on her guitars, the piano or organ, or singing with friends, in various guitar groups, her Bluegrass ensemble, Wabash, or at church.

Diane was a woman of profound Christian faith, and she actively participated wherever she was a member. Diane often told friends that her faith really couldn't be separated from her music. She was devoted to her husband, her three sons and their wives, and her seven grandchildren, with whom she visited often and who brought her immense joy.
