comfortably then answer the annexed questions. One mark is for

each question. If you score 12 marks then email us with the solution

sheet. You will be given next book to enlarge your concept. In case

you don’t know the answers of any single question even then mail us

with the solution worksheet. Further if you don’t know the answers

1. How we will total the following in excel?

I hope you would put =sum(A1:A7) in cell A8 then you will get answer or you will use ∑

symbol to add the A1:A7. But do you know any shortcut for fast totaling?

2. How you would find the value of Room No. in Table B when Table A is given?

Table A Table B

I know you will directly can see the value of Room No. in Table B. But what if this data is

huge then will use VLOOKUP. Let put =VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet1!A2:B8,2,0) then you will

get answer which is 105, 52, 84 for BB, EE, GG respectively.

But what if I replace the position of BB And GG in Table B then you will get #N/A

Why it has happened? Analyze………

3. Let’s assume we want to replicate some alphabets over a 1000 times in a single cell.Now, you can Repeats text a given number of times. Use REPT to f ill a cell with a

number of instances of a text string.

Syntax

=REPT(text, number_times)

Where, the ‘text’ is the text that you intend to repeat and the ‘number_ times’ is a

positive number specifying the number of times the text should be repeated.

Let’s suppose we want to replicate “A” to 1000 times in cell B2.

This function looks so simple and useless. But, what can be use of this function?

4. Suppose Mr. Imran is a CEO of Charter Ltd in USA. His earning is $ 1,050,000 and in

India INCOME TAX SLAB RATE is

First $ 200,000 NIL TAX

From $ 200,000 to $ 500,000 10%

From $500,000 to $ 1,000,000 20%

Above $1,000,000 30%

If we manually calculate tax then the Tax on $ 105,000 income will be

Slab Rate Computation TaxFirst $ 200,000 NIL $0From $ 200,000 to $ 500,000 ($500,000 - $200,000)*10% $30,000From $500,000 to $ 1,000,000 ($1,000,000 - $500,000)*20% $100,000

Above $1,000,000 ($1,050,000 - $1,000,000)*30% $15,000Total TAX $145,000

Let’s use Excel Now.

You can see in the above picture We have calculated TAX on Mr. Imran from two

method Ist method calculation is same as manual calculation. In second method we

have used If Function 3 times to get the TAX. But do you know what how many times wecan use “If Function” in a cell? Analyze…………..

5. We have a list of some alphabets in Column A and Column B. Some of Alphabets of

column A contain in column B. We want to extract those alphabets which are common in

Column A and Column B.

See in column C we have sorted only those values which are common in Column A &

Column B. However what will be the function if we want to sort those items which

contains only in column B not in column A. Analyse………….

6. We have $15,000,000 on today. Our manager has suggested a projected which will give15% return whose cash inflows in respective years are as follows.

Well we got NPV $4,577,777 in the above example. Do you think this is the right

answer? What about this one?

Oops! The answer is different, Now the NPV is $9,308,728. Why and Which one is

correct? Analyze……

7. Let’s Play SPACE SPACE!

What is the use of “ “ (Space) in Excel?

Many people will answer this it is use to generate the space between two words.

When you concatenates two characters, it will come together, but with the help of this " "

it will separate it little.

Let’s assume

A1= Uju and A2= Clare, then

=concantenate(A1,A2) yields

=concantenate(A1, ", ", A2) yields

See “ “ has generated spaces between the Name “UJU CLARE”. But the space is also

used for Intersection between two cells. How? Analyze……………

8. How to fill blank cells easily? Let’s suppose we have the following data

See in the above figure many cells are blanks. I want to fill those cells with the above

figure. Like I have “001-001 spot seller” in A1 cell I want to fill it in A2, A3, A4, A5, A6,

A7, A8 and A9. You will say just copy it and paste it. But if this data is spread over

100,000 cells then you will in trouble. So, How to fill it? Analyze…….

9. This is simple question I hope people will answers it immediately.

The question is, I want a sheet in which if I work in a particular column then formula will

be shown in other column. See the figure below I have entered the formula in Column F

and all formula is showing in Column G. How can we do this?

The answer is, Just convert the format of Column G in “TEXT” format then copy formula

one by one from column F. Don’t forget we always work in huge data. Then, How it is

possible to save our time? Analyze….

10. I have four numbers 12.45, 15.49, 17.58 and 41.78 and I want to round these numbers

to 12, 15, 16, and 42 respectively. I know you will suggest “ROUND” function. But if I tell

you 6 functions about rounding off then your answer will differ in each case. How take a

look.

Now I hope your answer will deviate Yes or No. Analyze………….

11. Build an Excel Add In

a) Open a new Workbook.

b) Add a macro that contains the code

c) Save as Add in file.

d) Open new Workbook.

e) Click Office Button -> Excel Options

f) Click the Add-Ins tab on the left.

g) At the bottom, next to the "Manage" dropdown, select "Excel Add-Ins" and click Go.

h) Click Browse and navigate to your Add in file.

i) Ensure the box next to your file is checked and click Ok. j) Click the Office Button -> Excel Options.

k) Click Customize Tab.

l) Select Macros in the "Choose Commands from Dropdown."

m) Double click your “ADD IN” and now a button will appear on the Quick Access

Toolbar.

You have learnt how to add “ADD IN” in excel. But, What is this, How can we use this

and Is it beneficial and not? Analyze……..

12. We have following data in which we have three month every month has same target and

different actual I want to compare the Target with Actual and want the result. How many

times Manager meets the criteria.

See in the figure given below we have put formula in column H and it is showing results

like Manager 1 have fulfilled criteria 2 times so it is showing 2 times.

Now the above solution was that when Target are same. What will the formula when

Target fluctuates every month? Analyze…………
