The Battle of Hatchet Ridge

May 27th, 2016

After nearly 2 months of relentless assault, the Canadians were finally been able to hold the advance of the

Russians. Since the middle of May, the 41st

Brigade Group had been fortifying positions around the Yukon River,

near the Yukon-Charley River National Preservation. It was from these positions that the 41st

brigade hoped to not

only hold any Russian attack, but to unleash a devastating counter attack. When the 116th

Naval Rifle Battalion

began to march towards the lines of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Battle Group, the stage was set for a battle that

could swing the momentum to the Canadians for the first time since the Airborne Regiment ambushed a Russian

Air Assault Battalion a week after the invasion.
