A SUCCESSFUL EUROPEAN COOPERATION NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2016 ISSUE 6 Welcome to CTA International! How have you found your first few months with us? So this is life at 15000 plus KM from home! Welcoming, inquisitive, challenging… I immediately felt a connection to the people, the country and the culture. The team, the Management and the parent companies have all been very supportive in ensuring that I felt at ease. That has been really appreciated. Based on your previous experiences at BAE Systems and elsewhere, what do you think you bring to CTAI? My Australian ease…Life for me has been one very long learning process and will continue to be. If I get the feeling in my gut that I can make something better than what it is, then I tend to go after it like a dog to a bone. The truth is that creating a future always starts with a conversation, a story, experiences shared and lessons learned, and I will bring mine to CTAI... This includes boldness, openness and leadership. What can you share with us about your vision for the company? CTAI is not just a name but a conglomerate of extraordinary individuals and I plan to empower them to flourish and grow. The organization has always been engineering-focussed and thus now it is time to enter the world of production, delivery and support, which ultimately brings growth and succession, not just for the organization but for the individuals. You’ve talked about CTAI becoming a production-oriented company. What does this mean for you? Everything now revolves around the production strategy, timeline, procedures, planning, resources, data etc.; we must reconsider and develop our tools, methods and procedures to support the production and delivery approach. We’ll learn to work side by side with the Customer to ensure the best outcome of the programme. What are the greatest challenges currently faced by CTAI? Our biggest challenge is to continue to perform and deliver, whilst ensuring that the mobilisation is completed in order to position the Company for success in winning future work. How do I intend to approach this challenge? By bringing in a change to culture, to systems, and to people. Our challenge will be to mature with the change and cement it within the next 9 months. Welcome to CTA International!

What do you see for the future at CTAI? A developed operational

capability with a mature culture which focuses on goals, roles, com-munication, and values, practices and attitudes. I see the future of CTAI being an organization with an outward looking perspective, with the agility to cope with diverse markets and challenges.

It is time to enter the world of Production,

Delivery and Support

Our biggest challenge is to continue to perform and

deliver whilst ensuring that the mobilisation is completed in order to position the Company for success in winning future work.

A New Step for CTAI

The 10 first canons have just been delivered to the UK MOD and the rate of Produc-tion is being accelerated to reach its cruising speed. The turrets equipped with the 40CT cannon and developed by LM for the AJAX and WARRIOR MLI in the UK and by NEXTER for the JAGUAR in France are demonstrating their compactness and their fire power. Numerous potential customers on the export market are demonstrating their interest for the 40CTAS system and are specifying it in their RFP.CTAI now has to change to respond efficiently to these opportunities and establish the 40 CT as a worldwide standard weapon system. Anna Barba, new MD of CTAI has all the skills and experience to steer this transformation and I am confident she will lead CTAI to success.

Pierre Clouvel, Chairman of CTA International

• I always anticipate tomorrow as I believe there is only a hairline between failure and success.

Anna Barba joined as the new Managing Director of CTA International in June 2016, moving to Bourges from her previous role in BAE Systems Australia. In this interview, she shares her vision for the future at CTAI.

CTAI is developing within the 40 CTAS JAGUAR contract with NEXTER Systems, the 40 CTAS, a global product solution to be integrated into JAGUAR’s turrets. JAGUAR, a new development for a Reconnaissance and Combat Armoured 6x6 Vehicle, is to be delivered by a partnership consortium between Nexter Systems, Renault Trucks Defense and Thales for the French DGA. JAGUAR is the new armoured vehicle in the French government’s SCORPION programme, alongside Multi-Role Armoured Vehicle GRIFFON, which is being developed by the same consortium.

The 40 CTAS will be integrated into JAGUAR’s two-man turret and play a key role in the lethality of the JAGUAR Reconnaissance and Combat Armoured Vehicle. 40 CTAS for JAGUAR has now entered the next phase of its development at CTAI, which sees the starting of the integration of 40 CTAS prototypes. Delivery of this phase is expected to be completed by early 2017. The next phase will be the Series Production and delivery of up to 248 units.

Employees at CTAI threw their support behind their colleagues at the 20th annual “Défi Inter-Entreprises” in September. The “Défi” (French word for “Challenge”) is 7000m of running, 600m of canoeing, and 3000m of running, shared between a team of four colleagues, which takes place at Lac d’Auron in Bourges. CTAI have always been enthusiastic participants in this event, and the office coffee room is full of trophies from previous years to show for it! Congratulations to the three teams of CTAI employees who participated and thank you to everyone who came out to support the event.

CTA International recently welcomed Jacob and Alex, two Graduates from parent company BAE Systems, who will be working at CTAI for the next six months. Recently graduated Engineers and Project Managers at BAE Systems follow a two year Graduate Development programme, which sees them move around the organisation on 6 month placements. CTAI have been taking on Graduates for several years, and many Graduates have chosen to come back to CTAI after their programme. We wish Jacob and Alex a fantastic six months with us, and readers can look forward to hearing about their experiences in an upcoming newsletter.

Your social media pages may have been dominated in re-cent months by the 22 push-up campaign. Initiated in the United States, the campaign has spread worldwide, and new Managing Director Anna Barba is now bringing the challenge to CTA International! The first to be nominated by Anna for the challenge was Technical Support Manager Tony Holland, who knocked out the first day of his 22 Push-

Up challenge in im-pressive time outside the CTAI offices. The challenge continues around the team at CTAI.

With all these new arrivals, inevitably there are some people that have recently left CTAI. Whether they are off experiencing new adventures and new challenges, or enjoying a well-deserved retirement, we thank them for their contribution at CTAI and wish them all the best for the future.
