A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARATHON, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO PURCHASE A 4x4 STAFF VEHICLE FOR USE BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $26,927.00; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY TO FINALIZE THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ANY DOCUMENTATION NECESSARY TO FACILITATE SAID PURCHASE; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE ANY DOCUMENTATION NECESSARY FOR SAID PURCHASE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

WHEREAS, the City of Marathon ("City") desires to purchase a 4x4 staff vehicle from

the Florida Sheriffs Association and Florida Association of Counties Bid List in the amount of

$26,927.00 to be utilized as a support vehicle for use by the Marathon Fire Department.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF MARATHON, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Recitals. The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated

herein by this reference.

Section 2. The City Council of the City of Marathon ("City") hereby approves the

purchase of said 4x4 staff vehicle (a copy of specifications and information attached as Exhibit

"A"). The City Manager and the City Attorney are authorized to finalize the terms and

conditions of any documentation necessary to facilitate said purchase, if necessary, and the

Mayor is authorized to execute any documentation necessary for said purchase on behalf of the

City.

Section 3. Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon

adoption.

ITEM: Purchase a vehicles from Sheriff's State Contract Bid

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: For use by the Fire Department for department. These include but not limited to emergency response, training, hose evolutions, and deploy new Fire Safety Trailer to name a few.

BUDGET IMPACT: These items are not on the line items in the present budget. We anticipate the use of infrastructure funds for these capital purchases.

STAFF IMPACT: Without these vehicles many of the support functions of the department would be delayed or not accomplished.

RECOMMENDATION: The Fire Chief recommends that the vehicle are purchased in a timely manner to enable the smooth transition within the department. We have no recommendations in regard to the budget shortfall.
