Some men are out to enforce a demand for a wage raise of 30 cents a day. The companies are resisting tbe demand, but promise a raise as soon ps tbe price of lead has advanced to H cents a pound. Kev. catner uannlng wlsnes to an nounce to the Catholics of Mineral Point that he bas obtained permission to celebrate mass in the new church at tbat place on the fourth Sunday of this month. All the members are re quested to attend. He also states tbat it is the intention of the mem' bers to have a picnic at Mineral Point on the Fourth of July, for the benefit of the new church. The early mail here has been com ing in late receotly and this is due to a cnange m transportation arrange ments which went into effect last Saturday. No 7, the fast mail from St. Louis, no longer throwsoff the Po tosi mall at Mloeral Point, but car ries it on to Bismarck, where it is taken up by train No. 10, northbound and brought back to tbe Point. It generally happens that No. 10 Is late and the mail likewise. This arrange ment was caused by the frequent damage to mail sacks and cootents in being thrown from No. 7 as it passed the Point. No. 10 delivers the mail there at a stop. In the circuit court last week Judge Williams sustained a motion to dW miss the cases against tbe parties charged with illegal voting at tbe Henderson preciuct last fn'1, because the defendants had not been accorded preliminary examination. If you are contemplating the pur chase of paints for your building, but are undecided as to wbat kiud of paint to use, allow me to give you this advice: Buy the product or a maofacturer of reputation who is not afraid to place bis name on tbe can, and who gives the names and quanti ties of the ingredients of the paints on the label, Paint made from Pure White Lead, Zinc and Linseed OH. This you wilt Hud In Masury's Paints, as sold by W. T. Woolford, costing no more than inferior paints that are highly adulterated with tiff and naptba, and sold by the aid of flame ing advertising. Remember Masury's and take no other. To be had only at Wool ford's. Washington county must still be saloonless, even if it may not be joiot-les- s. The county court last week re- fused to grant a dramshop license to H. F. Jackson of Riohwoods, who was present with a petition for such II. cense. The antt-saioo- n people were also on band with a remonstrance that just about offset the petition of the saloouists. A peculiar feature of tbe cae was tbat twelve resident tax payers of the towns nip had signed both the petition and the remon strauce. The couri very wisely refus- ed to consider tbe uames for either side. The court raNed the saloon li cense tax for county purposes to $800. Tuis with the addition of the state license tax, and city license lax, in the event a saloon wanted to open in Potosi, would practically make it pro- hibitive to engage iu tbe business be cause of this expense. DIED. At the home of her son, Mr. Lawson Hill, near Potosi, Mo., on Wednesday, April 28th, 1909, Mr. Maicelia Hill, aged 93 ears, 9 months and l& days. Grandmother Hill, bad she lived un til the 10th or July, 1909. she would have been 94 years old. Probably she might have lived a few years longer if ehe bad not fallen some time ago and fractured her left limb, her gen eral health being gmx) at tbe time of tbe accident. She was a good, chris- tian, kind-hearte- d old lady, always contented, cheerful and happy. She leaves four eons, two daughters and many grandchildren and great-gran- d children, besides other relatives sad friends to respect her memory. County Court Proceedings. Petition of H. F. The county court last week re-fused to grant a dramshop license toH. F. Jackson of Riohwoods, who waspresent with a petition for such II.cense. The antt-saioo- n people werealso on band with a remonstrancethat just about offset the petition ofthe saloouists. A peculiar feature oftbe cae was tbat twelve resident taxpayers of the towns nip had signedboth the petition and the remonstrauce. The couri very wisely refus-ed to consider tbe uames for eitherside. The court raNed the saloon license tax for county purposes to $800.Tuis with the addition of the statelicense tax, and city license lax, inthe event a saloon wanted to open inPotosi, would practically make it pro-hibitive to engage iu tbe business because of this expense.
