A Word from Pastor Karyn “Family Promise Reunion Potluck: Join Us in Our New Effort” A few weeks ago, I had a meeting with Family Promise volunteers from The Packanack Community Church and Immaculate Heart of Mary R. C. Church. As we talked about our upcoming week to host families in the network (August 7-14 at PCC), we also reminisced about our previous collaborative efforts and how much we enjoyed working together. We missed spending time with each other, and we yearned for more opportunities to be in ministry together. So we came up with an idea: we decided to have a Potluck Dinner for everyone who has ever volunteered to help out with Family Promise, along with those who might consider volunteering in the future. Our purpose in getting together is twofold: 1) to build upon the bonds we have already formed by starting to plan for the August week of hosting families, and 2) to dream about how we might collaborate on other forms of ministry. The idea came about because we were talking about families in our own community who are in need. When we shared some of the details about PCC’s Angel’s Calling ministry, the folk from IHM were very intrigued. “Wouldn’t it be great,” I asked them, “if we could do Angels Calling together?” My question, however, was a larger one: Wouldn’t it be great if we could develop a joint ministry that takes our Family Promise efforts even further – helping the hungry all year long and doing it together? So we’re going to do it. On Sunday, June 26, at 6:00pm (following the Family Service), we are going to have a Family Promise Reunion Potluck in Simmons Hall. You are invited to join us. All you need to do is bring a dish and a desire to help other people. We’ll do the brainstorming as we eat, and I’m willing to bet the Holy Spirit shows up. “Family Promise Reunion Potluck: Join Us in Our New Effort”

A few weeks ago, I had a meeting with Family Promise volunteers from The Packanack Community Church and Immaculate Heart of Mary R. C. Church. As we talked about our upcoming week to host

families in the network (August 7-14 at PCC), we also reminisced about our previous collaborative efforts and how much we enjoyed working together.

“Wouldn’t it be great,” I asked them, “if we could do Angels Calling together?”

My question, however, was a larger one: Wouldn’t it be great if we could develop a joint ministry that takes our Family Promise efforts even further – helping the hungry all year long and doing it together?

So we’re going to do it. On Sunday, June 26, at 6:00pm (following the Family Service), we are going to have a Family Promise Reunion Potluck in Simmons Hall. You are invited to join us. All you need to do is bring a dish and a desire to help other people. We’ll do the brainstorming as we eat, and I’m willing to bet the Holy Spirit shows up.
