PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND ENGINEERING EXPERTISE

At Subsea 7 we believe that the safe, reliable and value-added delivery of successful projects around the world requires robust Project Management and Engineering.

This is demonstrated by over a thousand successful projects, large and small, delivered over decades around the world. We continue to proactively develop this capability to add ever more value to your project.

The constant evolution of our Project Management and Engineering expertise will continue. For large, complex and high value projects we have introduced Global Project Centres to manage these projects in collaboration with our in-country resources. This allows a scalable, optimised capability that reduces your risk and ensures successful delivery.

Our in-country resource centres continue to execute all other projects.

A SELECTION OF OUR KEY PROJECTS

Located in the northern part of Block 17 offshore Angola, approximately 40km north/north-west of the Girassol development, this Total E&P Angola project represents the largest EPIC contract ever awarded to Subsea 7. The scope of work included the engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of 130km of pipes including 40km of Pipe-in-Pipe (PIP) production lines installed by the pipelay/heavy-lift vessel, Seven Borealis. As well as 60km of water injection lines, 32km of gas export lines, 80km of subsea umbilicals, plus 52 subsea structures and spools and jumpers. The project produced several milestone technical achievements, including two Hybrid Riser Towers which were laid in 1400m of water.

The Stampede subsea development is a large subsalt oil and gas field located in the Central US Gulf of Mexico, in water depths of more than 1000m. It is Hess-operated with partners Chevron, Nexen, and Statoil. The development consists of a tension-leg platform (TLP) at the host location. Subsea 7 is scheduled to complete Work Package 1, comprising the installation of a manifold and pipeline systems, and Work Package 2 which will see the installation of Subsea systems, including umbilicals, mooring piles, jumpers and flying leads. A key component of the work is a year-long welding qualification period.

Completed at the start of 2015, the Sapinhoá-Lula NE project was a Subsea Umbilical, Riser and Flowline (SURF) contract awarded by Petrobras. The project involved the deployment of four decoupled riser systems and is the largest EPIC SURF contract awarded to date in Brazil. To meet the system’s performance and installation requirements various innovative technologies were required, including the deployment of Buoy Supported Risers (BSRs), a world-first with the installation of corrosion resistant alloy (CRA) mechanically lined BuBi® pipe by reel-lay and the development of novel tethered tensioned mooring system for the BSRs. The project saw our client Petrobras awarded the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) “2015 Distinguished Achievement Award” for the delivery of new technologies associated with the Brazilian pre-salt fields.

The BP IRM Project encompasses ROV inspection, repair, maintenance (IRM) and light construction activities of various BP Assets in the US Gulf of Mexico. The principal activities include UWILD, flex joint cleaning and inspection, metrology, pipeline inspection, riser and umbilical inspection, span and hydrate remediation, full subsea inspection and pre-commissioning operations. The project is supported by the Siem Stingray and the Jones Act compliant Grant Candies. Both vessels are ideally suited to the project requirements.

Recognised as one of the most important developments in the UK North Sea, the BP Andrew Area Development (AAD) is located 230km north east of Aberdeen. The project is an excellent showcase for Subsea 7’s Pipeline Bundle technology. The BP Andrew Bundle system is the world’s longest, stretching 28km from the Kinnoull wellhead to the Andrew platform and comprises four interconnecting Bundles. The full Subsea 7 scope of work covered the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and pre-commissioning of the Bundle system, and the installation of a 28km electro-hydraulic control umbilical, tie-ins of integrated subsea towhead structures, caisson, field testing and pre-commissioning works.

Subsea 7 successfully completed Campaign 1 (2012), Campaign 2 (2013) and Campaign 3 (2014) of the subsea production facilities for the first integrated deepwater development project undertaken by India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). The transportation and installation of subsea structures, flexible flowlines, umbilicals and flying leads, as well as pre-commissioning and assistance to commissioning, were the principal elements of this SURF project. The G1 field is located in offshore India in the Bay of Bengal, 25km off the Amalapuram coast in the Krishna-Godavari Basin in water depths ranging from 205m to 440m.

Subsea 7 is carrying out umbilicals, Heavy Lift and Tie-in work on the Gorgon Project – one of the world’s largest natural gas projects. The project is developing the Gorgon and Jansz-Io gas fields, located in the Greater Gorgon area, around 130km off the northwest coast of Western Australia in water depths ranging between 130m and 1,350m. The project’s scope of work included the transportation and installation of 195km of subsea umbilicals by the Seven Seas in 2012. The project also includes engineering, spool fabrication transportation and installation of large structures and spool pieces. The offshore operations started in 2014 using the Skandi Acergy, the Rockwater 2 and the Sapura 3000.

The Underwater Services Contracts (USC) is a continuation of an ongoing long-term relationship in the UK North Sea between Subsea 7 and Shell which dates back to 1984. The USC contracts cover two diverse IRM contracts, the year-round Diving Support Vessel (DSV) contract and the 100 day Remotely Operated Vehicle Support Vessel (ROVSV) contract. These contracts encompass the ongoing inspection, repair, maintenance and decommissioning services of all Shell’s UK assets, including well scale-squeeze activities, assuring asset integrity and production continuity.
