DESCRIPTION

Airbus A380 Technical Training Manual (TTM)Full DocumentNew VersionThe first A380 technical manual, the "Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning," was released this month. It can be consulted and/or downloaded from the A380 Family page on Airbus' web site at www.airbus.com. This is the first time a technical manual of this nature has been made available so early, some three years before the first flight of the aircraft. The Airplane Characteristics manual provides specific A380 data needed by airport authorities and planners to support the operation of the A380 within their airports. Data such as airplane dimensions, take off and landing distances, terminal operations data, taxiing, parking and pavement loading requirements are provided for the A380-800 and A380-800F, the passenger and freighter versions of the A380.Airbus has been working with planning teams from 50 major airports in five continents to ensure smooth handling of the A380 when it enters service in 2006 and the Airplane Characteristics manual is a major support for this.Following release of this first manual and up to entry into service of the A380, Airbus will deliver a full range of technical data for the maintenance, engineering, material support and flight operations departments of A380 airline customers. Technical data for the A380 will be available in electronic format according to the most recent aviation industry standards, which are more efficient and user friendly. They will be accessible through Airbus On Line Services, the Airbus portal for Customer Support.

  • COCKPIT LIGHTING SYSTEM PRESENTATIONGeneral

The cockpit lighting system offers the crew the most suitable lightingenvironment to carry out their mission. It allows the crew to easily seeall equipment details, inscriptions and indications, whatever the level ofdarkness and in all flight conditions. For this, the cockpit lighting system is composed of:- the cockpit general illumination,- the instrument and panel integral lighting,- the annunciator light test and dimming.A big improvement of the cockpit lighting system is the exclusive useof Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology in order to improve the cockpitlighting homogeneity. In addition, this technology increases the sourcelifetime and reduces its thermal dissipation.

  • LIGHTS SYSTEM MAINTENANCE (1)Lights System Safety Items

When you work on the lights system, make sure that you obey all theAMM safety precautions. This will prevent injury to persons and/ordamage to the A/C. Here is an overview of the main safety precautionsrelative to the lights system.High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps contain mercury. If an arc tubebreaks, it is possible that the operator absorbs some mercury through theskin. In consequence, always wear safety gloves.HID lamps have very high temperature in working condition; 800C onthe outer bulb and 240C on the base.To prevent burns, let the bulb cool down for three minutes after theswitching off and disconnection before removal.HID lamps emit some UV rays. Thus, as a precaution, always wear safety UV glasses because of sunburnand conjunctivitis issues. The capacitor in the electrical circuit of the strobe light can keep a highvoltage charge for some minutes. In consequence, do not remove the strobe light for a minimum of tenminutes after you de-energize the electrical circuit.
