    Standard Stock andSpecials

    This catalogue is intended to providean overview of the product range

    together w ith the essential basic

    technical inform ation. Please note

    that the sizes show n for each

    product are those m ost w idely used

    and that m any m ore options are

    available from A alcos 10,000 item

    standard stock range.

    A alco also hold a signi cant range of

    non-standard products as w ell asspecial item s for particular industries

    and individual custom ers. In fact

    around 40% of the stock at individual

    branches falls into this category.

    Processing Services

    Processed m etals save tim e and

    m oney so m any custom ers have

    a need for cutting services.

    U nderstanding this, A alco is

    com m itted to providing an effective

    response and has thus m ade m ajor

    investm ents in a w ide range of

    advanced processing equipm ent at

    both local branches and central

    facilities. M ost branches have on-site

    bar saw ing, protective PVC coating

    of sheet and a guillotine. C entral

    facilities include plate saw s,

    polishing of sheet & coil and plasm a

    pro ling as w ell as coil processing

    spanning decoiling, levelling, slitting

    and blanking. In addition, A alco

    regularly arranges other services for

    custom ers on a sub-contract basis.

    A alco has developed particular

    specialities in four key areas:

    Bar, tube and pipe cutting

    For bar, capacity is available to

    accurately cut anything from a single

    16"/406m m diam eter billet to high

    volum e repetition

    blanking. For

    tubular products

    there is an

    equally exible

    range of facilities.

    This m eans

    reliable deliveries

    of cut pieces

    across the w hole

    product range.

    Plate processing

    A alcos plate processing facilities

    provide a unique range of possibilities

    for cutting stainless steel, alum inium ,

    copper, brass, bronze and nickel alloyplate that is unm atched in the U K.

    Plate saw s handle 4000m m lengths

    in thicknesses up to 155m m .Plasma

    cutting on air or subm erged beds

    provides blanks up to 130m m thick,

    2000m m w ide, 4000m m long.Band

    saw s cut circles 100m m thick up to

    1000m m diam eter.La ser cutting

    provides a clean, accurate edge for

    thicknesses up to 50m m in 2000m m

    w idths and 4000m m lengths.

    Wat er Jet cutting provides intricate

    detail to close tolerances for

    thicknesses up to 100m m in 2000m mw idth plates up to 4000m m long.

    Guillotining provides cut plates up to

    14 m etres long, 12m m thick and

    2000m m w ide.Abra sive D isc cutting

    provides a clean, sm ooth, square-cut

    edge on plates up to 75m m thick,

    2000m m w ide, 4000m m long. In

    addition A alco offer Plate Decoiling

    up to 12m m thick and 2000m m w ide

    to provide plate blanks up to

    4000m m long.

    Coil processing

    O ur coil processing services cover

    decoiling, levelling, slitting, spool

    w inding, blanking, piercing, notching

    and circling as w ell as polishing and

    protective coating. A lum inium and

    stainless steel in thicknesses from

    0.1m m to 3.0m m w ith w idths up to

    2000m m are processed to close

    tolerances on a 22 specialist lines

    w ithin a dedicated group facility that

    is unequalled in Europe.

    Surfa ce fi nishing

    A signi cant percentage of the

    stainless steel sheet used today is

    supplied w ith a polished nish.

    A alco has extensive polishing facilities

    providing a range of nishes to m eet

    every application. This includes a full

    range of ground nishes as w ell asthe prem ium O PTISH EEN nish.

    The unique w et-cut O PTISH EEN

    process produces a very consistent

    high quality surface m eeting the

    highest food-industry standards.

    A alco supplies m any other surface-

    nished products including polished

    stainless steel plate, coil and tube,

    anodised alum inium sheet and

    extrusions as w ell as variouscoloured and/or textured coatings.
