In storage, in transit, in control.

The complete temperature storage monitoring solution for the pharmaceutical industry

We are all reliant on efficient temperature regulation to store items at a constant temperature.

Whether it’s keeping items in long term frozen conditions or short term refrigeration, the consequences of power cuts, electrical faults or unit failures can be serious and significant.

“Temperature control is critical to ensuring that the highest quality standards are maintained to ensure shelf the life of our products – We had been searching for a system that will monitor 24/7 and also gives us automated alarm signalling text/email for temperature deviances. The Guardian monitoring is all this and more – this simple system using wireless sensors and web based analysis allows authorised access to view the data so we now have complete control whenever we want it, covering ambient internal / ambient external / water / RH. The system & friendly service comes highly recommended especially as it gives me piece of mind to sleep at nights!”

Mark J Bunting, Senior Technical ManagerMM Flowers

Some of the common issues include:

• Bacteria multiply and result in food poisoning

• Materials in transit are perished by the time they arrive

• Medical materials cease to be effective

Even if these serious issues are avoided, there can still be significant wastage when valuable stock is thrown away for fear of the possible consequences.

Abacus Guardian shows you live temperature monitoring information, and alerts you when the temperature moves outside the set range.

Abacus Guardian operates across single or multi site locations giving you instant access to all your records. Text, email and audit trial alarm history come as standard allowing you to easily meet your HACCP or MHRA requirements.

Benefits of using remote monitoring:• Low cost wireless temperature sensors.

• No wiring necessary, so installation is fast, easy and painless.

• Temperature sensors can report to any hub. That means that they can be fixed, roaming on pallets or in cool boxes that can be tracked in a cold chain.

• No software needs to be installed on your system so data can be accessed from any internet enabled device anywhere in the world.

• You can authorise an unlimited number of users, including staff, auditors, customers, suppliers etc. with secure password protected login IDs.

• Email and text alarms to multiple contacts if temperatures go out of limits, power fails / doors left open.

• Secure data storage and optional access to historical data greater than 3 years old.

• 24/7 monitoring with recording and alarms.

• 24/7 access to data.

• It enables you to comply with all current ‘due diligence’ legislation.

• Reduce stock losses and wastage.

• Save energy with continuous monitoring.

• No software to load so no compatibility issues due to new computer operating systems.

• Unlimited access to data with unlimited users.

• Worldwide access to data on any internet enabled device.

• Alarm and warning emails.

• Lower cost than recording temperatures by hand.

• Monitor the variables you want to know about.

• Gives you complete cold chain verification.

“We looked at several other temperature monitoring systems before deciding to use Abacus Guardian. The Guardian system is easy to use with quick access to historical data for audit purposes, also giving flexibility for anybody to view the data. Guardian also sends e-mail and text alarms making sure our stock is always at the correct temperature which is reassuring when not on site. The system does not require a dedicated PC or need to be connected to our Ethernet system making it ideal for remote fridges / freezers.”

How the Guardian System Works

Wireless Systems

The system comprises of two basic modules;

Wireless sensors

Base station (HUB)

The sensors are located in the areas to be monitored and they send a signal back to the base station every 45 seconds. If the base station is located at a point further than 30 meters from the sensor or sensors, as can be the case on larger sites then repeater stations can be installed. The repeater stations can be placed in several locations to help extend the signal back to the base station.

The base station then transmits the data back to our dedicated servers via GPRS or via your Ethernet. The base station can also be connected to an optional battery back up and can also store data in the event of a network outage, meaning that critical data is secure.

Once the data has been received it is then checked against parameters defined by the customer. If any of the data falls outside of the defined parameters then the system will send any combination of email or SMS (text message). The data is also stored and can be accessed using any web browser protected by a unique username and password. The data can be displayed as live or historical data.

You do not require any software or dedicated PC to view your data.

GPRS enabled HUB transmits the data over GPRS to our dedicated server

Production to DeliveryGuardian Monitoring allows you to track your products from production to your customer.

Cold Chain Temperature TrackingGuardian is unique in its ability to monitor a consignment through the entire cold chain at an affordable price.

If required, the manufacturer, distributor and end user can all view the temperature of a consignment historically or in real time as it goes from factory to truck, to distribution warehouse, to delivery van and on to its final destination.

The identity of the Hub indicates the location of the consignment; in a warehouse or on a particular vehicle and is shown as a different colour on the bar graph. The height of the bar indicates the strength of the signal from the sensor.

Any unwanted variations in temperature will create immediate alerts to prevent wasting valuable product.

Alarms include:

• Emails to multiple addresses.

• SMS texts to multiple numbers

• Local alarm lights, sirens or buzzers

• Text to landlines

Include other measurement typesThere are Guardian sensors to monitor a host of signals. In addition to temperature, Guardian can be used to monitor humidity, pH, carbon dioxide, conductivity, pressure, flow, voltage, current, contact, level etc.

Sensors to cover a host of applications

“We upgraded to the ‘Guardian’ web based system and one of the many benefits was the ability to view ‘live’ data on PC’s, smartphones and tablets. This upgrade also covers plant failure i.e.

compressors, evaporators and door sensors. It is easy to designate members of staff ‘alerts’ and whether they are to be informed by text or email. Abacus is a very professional and positive company who look to work together with their clients to set up a Monitoring system to suit them rather than a one size fits all. Their support is excellent and they are always on the end of the phone for advice and support.”
