You can also include not enough information and set targets which are too small so the project outcomes are too simple, with too little initial research. Throughout this project there will also be times when you need to work completely independently (around 40% of the hours allocated) and staff will be observing you. Be realistic. How easy is it to research your chosen subject? Choose a topic that you feel sufficiently interested in and will sustain you throughout the 10 week project. LEVEL L3 / L4 (this is where a candidate is selected for external moderation at Level 4)

For your Personal Confirmatory Study you will need to choose and develop an outcome of your choice. You must demonstrate the best of your ideas and skills. Keep in mind the different projects that you have done so far and what you have learnt through them.

You will need to write the project, develop research areas, themes, select places to go, work on design ideas using previously learned techniques and produce a final outcome which will be marked and assessed for your final grade on the course both internally and externally. You need to access the project pro forma on Mac server and email it to your tutors who will then process it for external verification.

In past years students have tried to include too much in the time provided and have not fulfilled their own project brief.

Because you are starting your own personal project, it is very important that you keep all your teachers informed of what you are doing and where you will be, either in the building or outside of the building. Use Martin Collier on the Absence Line to inform all the teachers if you are going out on external visits, galleries and shows.

Section 1Progress and achievement through units 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, 6, 7 (as well as 9, 10 and 11, if the latter ones are applicable), provides an opportunity for you to reflect on, review and summarise your progress and achievements through the first seven units of the programme, expressed in terms of the knowledge, skills and understanding acquired. What you now know, and what it means to you, compared with what you knew and could do before you started the course. (Approx. 100 words)

Over the course of the first seven units, I have been able to gain a various set of skills and techniques such as photographic techniques, Photoshop skills, knowledge on lighting setups and contextual knowledge on composition and techniques. Although my pathway is on photography, I also gained skills in using other programmes such as Final Cut and in illustration and graphic design; I use a blog to present my work and I have shown my skills in editing, filming and creating animations. Overall, I have received three offers from Universities that I applied to, also the skills I have learnt can be used towards my Final Major Project and can be used for future reference towards any tasks or assignments given.

Section 2Pathway choice: provides an opportunity for you to explain your reasons for choosing a particular pathway and to outline your longer term aspirations. You should reflect upon how your choice of a particular pathway has informed your study proposal and what immediate aspirations will be satisfied through the Personal Confirmatory Study. (Approx. 100 words)

For my pathway, I have decided to study digital photography in Uni; even though my course at the moment is based in Media, I will still add photography into my projects that are being set and I will use this for my Final Major Project. Photography is one of the few media’s that I can express my creativity through, in my Pathway I had to layout my weaknesses and overcome them by practising and then producing some sort of work towards it. I would like to work in the Fashion/Beauty/Portrait media world as a profession. My dream goal is to have a freelance career like my inspirations, by photographing covers for big fashion magazines as well as shooting celebrity portraiture. My achievable goal for the future is to have my own studio (portraiture and fashion); I would be self-employed creating my studio for shoots in the world of fashion, portraiture and even weddings and family shoots.

Section 3 Personal Confirmatory Study aims and objectives: provides an opportunity for you to clearly explain the aims of your Personal Confirmatory Study proposal and its relationship to your choice of pathway. It should describe the overall concept of what is proposed across the Confirmatory Stage (Unit 08) as you enter into a significant period of self directed and self-reliant learning. You should explain how you will realise your study by describing the

proposed supporting research which may be required (primary and secondary);processes of development which may be required (drawings, worksheets,

photographs, notes, models etc.);physical resources required;media and materials required; anticipated outcomes. (Approx. 250 words)

Page 4: ABC Award Assignment Brief ABC Level 3 & 4 Foundation ......LEVEL L3 / L4 (this is where a candidate is selected for external moderation at Level 4) For your Personal Confirmatory

You will need to balance ambition, time and realism in the planning of the study. To that end an individual timetabled study plan, attached to the Statement of Intent, may be very useful.

I have gone through my first proposal and highlighted the advantages and disadvantages, although there were many advantages, there was a disadvantage that stood out; I have chosen to experiment with my first proposal such as using plasticine or objects to help with my stop motion part of my video. I am still using animation as a key theme of the video but I have chosen to create a music video with the use of stop motion , I will research from my inspiration but also from others who have created videos with the use of stop motion involved. The stop motion section will be special effects, I will be morphing sequences where the face of one of the cast into the next, as well as quick dissolves or straight cuts between footage, I will also take photographs of the cast in their clothes and locations. I will use the same equipment and techniques that I have highlighted before and analyse it in my research, I will hopefully create a piece that will be good enough to gain a high grade to get me into college.

In this unit, I will bring together a range of skills, knowledge and understanding to carry out a personal confirmatory study. I will be required to manage my own personal learning and development. I will support my creative and technical skills by extending my knowledge, experience and understanding of my chosen pathway through researching and recording my insights into those aspects of contemporary and historical practice, which relate to my own creative intentions. I will be required to identify my project's aims and objectives, to clarify and agree the scope of work and manage my time and resources to achieve a final outcome.

Section 4 Evaluation: provides an opportunity for you to explain the means by which you will reflect on, and evaluate, your work. You should consider how, throughout the duration of the project, you may make decisions which could result in change and adaptation in response to ideas and practices, and how you will record that process, e.g. a reflective diary. You should also consider how you intend to review the realisation of the Personal Confirmatory Study and its implications for your future personal and professional development. (Approx. 50 words.

I will evaluate my work by viewing the decisions I made during the project and see if I could change anything to make it better and adapt in responding to ideas and experiments. I will record the process by either in a reflective diary or a video log. I will evaluate my research including videos and different artists, photography, brainstorms of some sort, annotations, notes, experiments and the final outcome; throughout my process of development I will go into depth about the project and write, search and record all the details that I had to obtain to help me towards my final piece.
