Business English Research We have analysed Profiles, C.Vs, Office Documents, Emails, Retail Signage, Menus, Policies and Procedures, Health and Safety notifications, marketing and advertising media and in many instances we identified incorrect use of the English language. We also identified issues with the spoken language when addressing English speaking customers on the phone and face to face. Our research also included LinkedIn Profiles, Employment agencies, Facebook, Advertisements, company press releases, direct phone contact and signage across Hospitality, Travel, Retail, Banking, Real Estate, Restaurant and other service industries. 11. Findings By and large the level of written communication is good although many errors still occur in the translation process leading to customer/client confusion and poor image. 12. He commenced as a Junior Sales Assistant working his way up to Retail and or Area Manager for some of Australias leading corporate retailers. From 2002 until 2013 he was the Aust/N.Z National Loss Prevention Coordinator for Australias Electrical Retailer The Good Guys conducting loss prevention/security & OH&S training for the companies 3500 staff. In February 2013 he obtained his Diploma of Security and Risk Management-Australia. June 2009 Barry obtained his Australian TESOL Certification with facilitator A.T.A December 2013 Barry moved to Vietnam and resides with his family in HCMC. January 2014 Barry completed a TESOL refresher course at A.T.A H.C.M.C. February 2014 until present Barry also conducts private English lessons Barry has been accepted into I.L.A Vietnam for a 12 month teaching assignment (if taken will commence June) Business Development Advisor for local Vietnamese Restaurants which includes signing off on English Menus, placement of services, store signage, customer service. 16. He has authored 2 books on retailing and retail management. As owner and Director of MLW Training his clients included some of Australias largest organisations such as Shell, Toyota, News Limited, ACP, Newsagents Federation, St George and CBA banks 17. The Team: Warren Hammond Warren Hammond has a major customer focus background and has worked in various positions doing so, including; banking, real estate, alcohol distribution, clothing retail and sales. He has previously worked at ANZ Mortgages (Melbourne), both as management and staff for 3 years. Leaving ANZ and moving to Vietnam in 2008, he has gained a wealth of teaching and training experience since then. His teaching and training expertise include: Experienced TESOL Trainer at ATA 6-years teaching experience in Vietnam spread over a range of language centres, primary schools and high schools throughout HCMC. A full-range of university and corporate classes from beginner to advanced levels, including IELTS preparation and general ESL for children, teenagers and adults.
