About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named Ghuman Khurd which was situated in district Gurdaspur on 1 st May 1941. My parents Sh. Amarnath and Smt. Maya Devi died fifteen years back. I have five brothers and five sisters. My father was a devotee of Shri KRISHNA and the whole family used to serve Him together in the evening by chanting His Aarti. Soon after I completed my studies, I got the job. Eight years after doing my job in Batala I was transferred to Amritsar. In 1973 I got myself transferred to Chandigarh to get a degree in law but according to the will of Maharaj Ji I could not do it. In 1975 I got to know about SIDDH BABA BALAK NATH JI’s temple in Sector - 29. I started going to the temple every Sunday. As Baba Ji showed many miracles to me in a very short period of my devotion, my faith and belief in Him grew rapidly. After sometime I started writing His devotional songs (bhajans/bhentaan) which were highly appreciated by the devotees. Moreover, many of my songs were printed in “AMAR JYOTI” a book on the life of BABA BALAK NATH JI by Sh. Ram Pyara Sokar. In 1993 I rented a house in Mohali and started chanting His hymns there. Shri Vinod Chaddha and Ram Pyara Chhokar suggested me to do that. Devotees started coming from near and far off places to attend the hymnal session at the house. This led to the shortage of space for the devotees to make them sit and attend the session comfortably. So I went to Maharaj Ji’s gufa (a devotional den) and prayed Him for some place and then I got a plot in village KAMBALI, near Phase - 11 in Mohali. 9 th October 1996, I met Swami Ji Bhagwan Das who is the founder of the Shiva Temple in village Kambali and who himself is said to be as the shadow of LORD SHIVA. Because of his kindness, he gave me the opportunity to serve him. I got a bit afraid as serving someone who is really close to God is not an easy job as it seems to be. Many types of difficulties and hurdles come before you in this path. I started working on that plot in village Kambali near Phase -11 and presently a huge temple of Baba Ji is situated there. I was so blessed by the Lords that in order to save me from the difficulties and hurdles, SAMADHI BABA JI, MAA DURGA AAD BHAWANI and BABA BALAK NATH JI Themselves appeared and stood up there at that plot and the construction work was started in Their presence.

About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”

“I was born in a village named Ghuman Khurd which was situated in district Gurdaspur on 1st May 1941.

9th October 1996, I met Swami Ji Bhagwan Das who is the founder of the Shiva Temple in village Kambali and who himself is said to be as the shadow of LORD SHIVA.

Sh. SIDDH BABA BALAK NATH JI means everything to me. He is my ultimate Guru. On 26th October 1999, He Himself dictated me the book “AMAR KATHA” which is available at our temple.

Now we can clearly state that if we have pure belief in God then no work is difficult for us and can see that BABA BALAK NATH JI Himself is present between us all the time who made me write this book as He is my ultimate Guru.”

“BABA JI’s 1 ST BIRTH”

Firstly, He was born in village Sulana near Junagarh in a Brahmin family of Sh. Gareeb Das. His mother’s name was Amrati Devi. It was a mud house with two rooms with open surroundings with trees around it. His father was a devotee of Lord Shiva and used to earn fair money for the family.

In the evening and the morning time, His father used to chant ‘OM NAMAH SHIVAAY’ sitting with Him and His mother and used to make them chant it too. At the age of five He started working for and serving Thakur Dwara. He used to pour water upon the Shiva Linga. People started saying that He Himself was as a shadow of Lord Shiva i.e. just as Him.

“Childhood Happenings”

When He was just 40 days old, once His mother was sitting with Him in the lawn. Suddenly a crow threw down a bone beneath them. Seeing this, a lady sitting there with them (Tarkhaani) said that because He had a dark complexion, He should have been a child of a butcher rather than of a Brahmin. After the lady left His mother prayed to Lord Shiva who is also known as ‘Bhola Bhandari’ that to judge the lady’s good or evil was now in His hands but her child should not be cursed and wished her son to be just as Lord Shiva.

Page 3: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

His mother used to put a black mark (Tilak) on His forehead and that day she waved seven red chilies around His head too which is said to be helpful in putting away the curses.

“Curse for the lady (Tarkhaani)”

Because she taunted His mother, so she herself got cursed as people started calling her the mother of a butcher instead of mother of Ramu because Ramu then started working as a butcher.

“Wore Clothes after Three Years”

Balak Nath Ji was wrapped in a cloth diaper (Langot) and a cloth sheet for three years. After three years His parents started putting Him clothes. According to the Tarkhaani case, it is clear that people were not happy and very fond of Him.

“(Kasar) At The Age Of Seven”

When He was seven years old, one day He was taking lunch for His father to a nearby village where he was working as a labourer at some house’s construction. It was 12 o’clock in the noon and the day was Thursday. Suddenly, a thorn struck His foot. There was a stream flowing nearby. Suddenly He heard a voice saying that ‘Wait, I am coming’. He got fainted. Somebody went and told His mother about Him and they came and picked Him up from there. A priest Gyan Chand of Thakur Dwara Temple which was situated near His house gave Him the holy Shiva Linga water that cured Him. He was attacked by (Kasar) for 8 days.

“School Going”

He went to school at the age of three and went till thirteen years of His age. One day because of going late to the school His Principal Mr. Raheem who was a Muslim got to know the reason of His coming late to the school which was His visit to the Shiva temple every day before school. After knowing this, he started saying foul things about Lord Shiva and criticized Him which Balak could not tolerate and so He left going to the school forever after that. He was already interested and devoted towards God, His preaching and meditating Him. Whenever His mother used to take Him to the forest to collect the woods, she used to tell Him the stories and tales of Lord Shiva. She used to tell Him to bow my head in front of every temple that comes in the pathway. By this His feelings and devotion towards God increased.

“From 13-15 Years Of Age”

From thirteen to Twenty One years of His age He preached His God, meditated and even served His parents to the fullest by which they used to bless Him happily.

“Marriage At Twenty Five Years Of Age”

Because His mother was highly pressurizing Him to get married so at the age of Twenty Five He got married as He wanted to see His parents happy. His wife MANGATI was Twenty Three years and Three months old. She was from Khakhriya Wala village. He wanted to remain a virgin bachelor devoted to God even after His marriage but she wanted a child so there used to be a conflict between them always due to this. One day while quarrelling He cleared up all the lines and marks from her hand as she told Him that there were seven sons and two daughters written in her fate. He knew it that when one grows up many kinds of desires occurs in one’s heart which becomes a big hurdle in one’s meditational

Page 5: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

and devotional path. His wife got very upset with Him as He cleared up the fate lines from her hand.

Because of the daily family conflicts, He left His house at the age of Thirty One but for the sake of His parent’s happiness He returned back after Three months and Seven days. So He stayed at home till Thirty Six years of His age.

“From 37-51 Years Of His Age”

Finally at the age of Thirty Seven, He quitted His family and home and went in the isolated forests to preach and meditate Lord Shiva.

Due to the shock of His leaving the family forever, His mother lost her eyesight by crying all the time and His father started remaining ill too. He had to leave His house as His wife MANGATI did not used to serve and comfort His parents and never took care of them. So He left His house as it was intolerable for Him. After He left everything and everyone, people started making up various types of talks against Him.

Like, one still gets everything without the parents but He should have never left His wife back. He completely ignored all this and started moving towards His devotional path.

A few miles away from His home, He met a man Shamlal who guided Him in devoting and meditating Lord Shiva. He then became His Guru (Teacher) of His 1st birth and even in His 2nd birth. He meditated Lord Shiva till Fifty One years of His age.

Page 6: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

He then met another man Prabhu Dayal. He was the holder of Guru Gaddi (i.e. the place given to the most nearer preacher by his Guru). He further had many preachers following him who used to serve him day and night but were confused about the ability of their Guru that whether he is capable of blessing them with their desired births or not. He was also present there during this conversation then Guru Prabhu Dayal Ji said that being a preacher of one Guru we should not divert our mind towards any other Guru. The one, who serves with full dedication and carefulness, gets everything they desire and even get to know about their next birth. A follower Ram Teerath who had some confusion in his mind could not get full opportunities to serve his Guru and remained nil in next births too. Another follower Rudraksh who used to preach and pray Lord Shiva and Devi Maa completely due to his confusions he too remained nil with his fruits. Even Balak Nath was among those confused followers and even after not getting any suitable fruits for His dedication, still He continued His prayers, meditation and preaching for Lord Shiva with full dedication due to which He started viewing the sights of Maa Vaishno Devi. Then He came to know that He got more love from His devotional mother than His actual mother and this was the love that His heart was craving for. While meditating “GURU GURU RAKSH GURU OM NAMAH SHIVAAY”, He left His body.

After He left this world physically, His parents became very sad from their illness. His wife was also sad when she came to know that He was the incarnation of Lord Shiva as He cleared up the fate lines from her hand and still she could not recognize Him. Then she died at Fifty Five years of age.

“BABA JI’S 2 nd BIRTH ”

Secondly, He was born in a village Acchari Wal district Junagarh. His father’s name was Kalu Ram and mother’s name was Natho. Their occupation was to fill and store water and to roast nuts. They were Jhavar by caste.

Page 7: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Childhood Days”

His father asked Ram Prasad about Him. He told His father that He was a devotee of Lord Shiva in His last birth and will remain His devotee in future as well.

He used to meet Balak Nath everyday at the temple and used to tell Him the tales of Lord Shiva, Maa Parvathi and Ganesh Ji. He used to feel very happy listening to Their tales. He used to feel very sad about that man that he used to tell Him the tales of the Lords with such an interest but he never believed in Them heartedly as he used to say that he will get nothing out of it. But Balak Nath was sure that one, who serves God, gets his fruits someday. Keeping this thing in His mind, He meditated Lord Shiva with His full devotion and became His devotee in the second birth as well. He started viewing Maa Parvathi in the reflection of Maa Vaishno Devi who used to give Him Their blessings. Ram Prasad who did not have any fruits for his devotion and due to that started cursing The Lord, so he got his result from The Lord.

“Naughty As A Child”

He used to be very naughty as a child like when His father used to pick the pots in his basket then He used to walk behind him with His self-created basket. Many times due to this, both the baskets used to collide and the pots broke and then he used to beat Him up. Likewise, He was very naughty with His mother as well. He used to make the flames high and her nuts used to blow up in high flames. Many times He used to eat the roasted nuts which were for sale. So His mother used to ask Him to get out of the house and then He went in the village. In the village He used to get many types of work but He was not interested in doing any.

Page 8: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“As A Cattleman”

As His father wanted Him to work so He took the job of taking care of the cows owned by a village priest. He used to play a lot with the calves. Many times He used to sit upon them. The priest used to scold Him for that. In the evening He used to come back home and then think whole night about how to tease the calves the next day. Once, He drank the milk of a cow and gave it to the calves too. Some village boys told about His naughtiness to the priest so His father took Him away from the job. Then He started working with His father. Every time when He used to pass that way, He used to feel so very happy looking at the cattle. They did not used to get the deserved money for their hard work so did not had many clothes to wear nor many shoes to wear and many times had to sleep without eating any food. They did not even had a door for their house but they never used to forget their God even in hard times and used to pray Him heartedly.

“From 20-31 years Of Age”

Many villagers told His parents that they should have sent Him to school as it could make His life hard to live by earning from such small jobs in the future. He used to get very sad at this. Then He used to meditate day and night for Lord Shiva and Maa Parvathi.

“From 31-45 Years Of Age ”

His parents now wanted Him to get married but He never wanted to get married so He left the village for some days. Then He met a preacher. He told Him that parents are above everything in this world and one gets Lord Shiva and Maa Parvathi in a married life only. So if He will serve His parents and make them happy, then The Lords Themselves will come to meet Him and if He will

Page 9: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

hurt them then He will get hurt and His life will become miserable and hard and hence He will not be able to meditate and pray further.

As the preacher said, He returned back home. His parents got very happy but He was very sad.

One day, a woman named Kamlo had a talk with Him. He told her the reason why He never want to get married which was that He wanted salvation and to get saved from rebirth i.e. called the difficulties of 84 births. She then asked Him what that was. He told her that to get into the love of family and kids after marriage is its cause.

So to give up marriage is the only solution. She then taunted Him by saying that one can have God by giving up one’s own mother but not by giving up a wife.

By saying this, Kamlo herself got stuck in it. She had a baby by which her worldly desires increased and hence decreased in devoting God.

“From 45-57 Years Of Age”

He started spending His time in serving His parents and then He met a man Ram Teerath. He told him about His only desire about having complete blessings of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvathi. With that He chanted ‘GURU GURU RAKSHA GURU OM NAMAH SHIVAAY’. Listening to this, he told Him if He wants to have them completely then He has to lose many more things. He told Him:

To wear just a piece of cloth below His abdomen, (Langot)

To hold a Chimta basically known as tongs,

Page 10: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

To hang a red cloth bag around His shoulder, (Jholi)

To wear wooden footwear, (Paauwen)

And to meditate and praise God under the Banyan Tree.(Baddh Ka Vriksh)

After listening to all this, when Balak Nath noticed his face He came to know that he was not Swami ram Teerath but Lord Shiva Himself. Balak Nath started devoting Him just as He was told to do.

“From 57-64 Years Of Age”

With doing all this, sometimes He used to visit the village too by which He used to get something to eat by knocking at the doors but one day due to the heavy rains He could not go to the village which made Him think that He got nothing out of His devotion and by praising and meditating God all the time. He felt very sad. He then thought to finish His life. Next day in the early morning, He went to the village and there He met an old lady with whom He shared His feelings. After listening to Him, she suggested Him to give 50% of His food collected from the village to the birds, insects and animals. There were two profits in it.

Firstly, He will get peace at heart and secondly, His devotion will increase towards God and by this the insects, birds and animals will love Him. He liked and appreciated her thought very much and started putting His whole collection to them and slowly He quit having food. By doing this, His devotion started increasing. Then the wild animals, elephants, tigers, leopards, deer, birds, parrots and snakes started coming to Him and used to sit beside Him. Seeing all this, Lord Shiva became so happy that he told Naarad Muni Ji to tell Him the way towards Himself.

“Grand Test”

Page 11: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

Nearly a month passed away serving the birds and the animals and meditating God but still He got nothing out of it. Flooded with frustration and anger, He left that place and went to the river side to commit suicide. As He was about to jump into the river, the birds started screaming loudly. Then He stopped and sat down and thought that the people already told Him that He will not get anything by devoting Lord Shiva but at that time He denied them all and chose this path. But He got nothing what He desired for, except the thought of committing suicide at the end. Again when He was about to jump into the river, then Maa appeared in front of Him and consoled Him that He will get the fruits of His hard work and answers to His questions one day. He will get the chance to serve God and much more devotion than this as He always desired. Then He asked Her and His Lord to forgive Him and came back. Then He remembered that in this path one has to face such hard tests and difficulties. If He would have committed suicide then He would have been declared as a liar and a loser in the society and moreover, God would have been angry by Him.

Then to regret He punished Himself by hunger and silence fast for five days. He did not spoke with anyone and ate nothing for five days. Then that old woman again came to see Him and asked the reason for not coming to the village from many days. He told her that He went to commit suicide but Maa stopped Him. Suddenly she said that She was Maa Parvathi as during the hard tests of the devotees of Lord Shiva, She comes to help them and give them blessings. As the lady left after giving Him some fruits, He felt as if from the Kailash Mountain Maa Herself came to give Him fruits. After having those fruits He laid down and while dreaming He saw Lord Shiva, Maa Parvathi and Naarad Muni discussing something and then He woke up and started meditating again.

“Meeting Naarad Muni”

Naarad Muni, as an old priest came to meet Him there and started telling Him a story of Lord Shiva. He told Him that once upon a time, Gautam Rishi and Satyavadi Ansuya were discussing about whom among them is a full devotee of

Page 12: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

God and started fighting. The power of this incidence was under the control of Lord Shiva. Lord Indra was viewing this whole sight from above. Ansuya told this to the Rishi. Then the Rishi told her that a wife who completely devotes herself to her husband and serve him is top of all the rest of the things. Due to her servings and care only, a husband gets that honour and knowledge. To prove this, Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh appeared as monks there and asked Sati to give them something to eat. She told them that she has nothing in her house to give them to eat. Then Lord Brahma asked her to give them her milk which she used to feed her son with. She prayed to God to make it possible and seeing her devotion towards her husband, the Lords turned into small children and she started feeding them one by one. Lord Indra told all the three Mothers about this incidence. To see what was happening, all the three mothers i.e. the wives of The Lords appeared there and asked about the whereabouts of Their husbands. She told Them to find out Their respective husbands among the three turned up children and her son who were playing together.

The Mothers got stunned seeing Their husbands turned into small children and wondered that still such loving and caring wife is there on earth. Then Ansuya answered that because of not feeding The Lords in front of her husband, she made Them turn into small children.

Maa Parvathi picked Lord Brahma, Maa Lakshmi picked Lord Shiva and Maa Saraswati picked Lord Vishnu and told Ansuya that They want Their husbands back in Their original form so that They can bless her and her son.

By this, the monk sprinkled the holy water upon the three children and They came back in Their original form. Then Ansuya asked the Mothers to forgive her and said that a caring and loving wife should know her husband very well.

Then the three pairs of Lords and Mothers took Their respective places and blessed Ansuya’s son and vanished from there.

Page 13: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

As Sh. Naarad Muni told Balak Nath this story, He got amazed to know that The Mothers were mistaken to recognize The Fathers. He thought that even He was being mistaken about the monk and requested Him to appear in His original form in front of me.

He then asked whether He was His Lord Shiva. Then Naarad Muni told Him that The Lord had sent him to Balak Nath. He then told him that He wanted to meet Maa once so Naarad Muni should tell Him the way for that so that He can meet Her the way He wanted to. Then Naarad Muni told Him that there is a river near Kailash Mountain (Maan Sarovar). He told Him to chant “OM NAMAH SHIVAAY” with full dedication and he left after telling Him that. He gathered His things and started marching towards the Mountain. He was into His 81st year of age at that time.

“Meeting With My ‘Maa’”

The moment He saw that river near the mountain He got very happy and put His things down near the bushes and started chanting ‘OM NAMAH SHIVAAY’. He was focused towards the river while chanting because He was very eager to meet Maa. At night He was feeling very sleepy so He slept for a while and then woke up as His mind was stuck towards the river. Around 3:30 in the morning He felt as if somebody was there in the river. He was confused whether it was some animal drinking water or Maa had come to take a dip into the river. So He started chanting His hymn loudly that if there would be some animal then he will run away by His voice. Suddenly Maa called that whoever is chanting ‘OM NAMAH SHIVAAY’ should come to Her at once. He stood up folding His hands and told Her that Her son was chanting. She then asked Him what He wanted from Her.

He told Her that He want to see and meet Lord Shiva. She said that it was not easy for anyone to go to the Mountain without His permission. Balak Nath

Page 14: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

told Her that Lord had sent Naarad Muni to Him for this. Then She turned Balak Nath into a 12 year old kid and took Him to the Mountain with Her and then left Him under a tree. She had to pray to Lord Shiva and then asked for His permission first. He waited there.

Maa Parvathi prayed Lord Shiva and told Him that She wanted to ask Him something. Lord asked Her what it was that She wanted to ask Him so early in the morning.

Maa told Him about a small boy who came with Her from The Maan Sarovar who wanted to meet The Lord. She asked if He allows Her then She will call Him. Then The Lord laughed and said that He Himself had sent Naarad to call that boy to Him. His devotion was now completed.

Lord Shiva told to The Mother that He had sent the orders to Naarad many days ago but he ignored. To make him remember his job, Lord called him again and sent him to the boy as His reflection. The boy due to His love and devotion recognized The Lord and He appeared as Naarad Muni in front of him. On being asked by Maa the reason to do this, He told Her that it was to make Naarad realize his mistake.

“Meeting Lord Shiva”

Maa then went to take the boy from under the tree and saw that He was still chanting ‘OM NAMAH SHIVAAY’. She called Him and told Him that The Lord wanted to meet Him and He started walking behind Her.

He was very happy seeing The Lord in front of Him. Firstly, He wished Maa Parvathi who was sitting as Maa Vaishno Devi. Secondly, He wished His Father, Lord Shiva. Then He folded His hands and stood up there. Then The Lord said

Page 15: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

that ”My child, you are now a completely devoted child as your meditation, devotion and servings are finished and complete so now you can have salvation.” But He told Him that due to one of His mistake, a part of His devotion has been cut. By asking, He told Him the reason that He had told Naarad 15 months back to tell Balak Nath the way towards Him but He ignored. So because of that Balak Nath had to face many difficulties. Balak Nath then requested The Lord by folding His hands that profit of devotion of Naarad should be cut down and added to Him as he never did what His Lord asked him to do on time.

“Blessings Of Lord Shiva”

Lord Shiva now gave Him His blessings completely and told Him that He has given Him salvation and told Him to stay in the premises of The Lord from then. Balak Nath denied His orders and told Him that He still have not served His pupil. He said that it actually is very difficult to serve the pupil because one has to sacrifice a lot for this than to sacrifice in choosing a devotional path. He then asked Him what type of sacrifices He is talking about.

He said that one has to leave his home in his early childhood, to roam about freely in the open world shelter less, to ask for food door to door, to compromise with the society, not to fight with anyone, not to think foul about others and to stay connected with God at every single breath.

He accepted all the conditions and said that the coming world was going to be ‘KALYUGA’ in which human beings will be very sad, selfishness and egoism will be at the heights, there will be no dedication towards God and He will serve each type of the world with full dedication. After that, Lord Shiva and Maa Parvathi blessed Him with His desires and told Him that He had to choose a Guru first.

“Consulting About His Guru With Lord Shiva”

Page 16: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

He thought for a while and then requested The Lord that He does not want to get married in His next birth so give Him a Guru who should be the incarnation of Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh. Then The Lord said that Rishi Atri, son of Satyavati Ansuya, whose name is GURU DATTATRA was the complete incarnation of all the three Lords.

“Appearance Of Lord Brahma And Lord Vishnu”

As Lord Shiva ended His conversation with Balak Nath, Lord Brahma and Vishnu appeared there. They said that this boy never prayed Shesh Naag and Lord Brahma so he can not be the sole follower of a Guru. Then Lord Shiva told Them that He prayed and served all of them. Lord Brahma, The Holy Long Pepper Tree, chanting Lord Shiva’s hymns and looking after the flora and fauna, this child has served all. Then He said that The Great Lord Shiva with Shesh Naag around His neck and Maa Parvathi who was one of the incarnations of Maa Vaishno Devi, He served and prayed Them. There is nothing above Them to serve. Then Lord Brahma and Vishnu blessed Him to own a Guru and said that because He will be full of devotion and powers, He will be a great and true follower.

“His Form For The Next Birth”

All the Three Lords, Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh, collectively said that because He was 81 years old with still black hairs on His head so He will be 12 years of age with golden hairs, face as beautiful as a moon, Padam in His right foot and He will serve cows in His next birth. He will have to leave His parents at the age of three. He accepted all the conditions and was then sent down from the Kailash Mountain.

“Talking To His Own Self ”

When He opened His eyes, He found Himself in a forest and was very happy on that day as not any old woman or Kamlo but Maa Parvathi helped Him to get the blessings of His Lord. Then He realized that devotion and the worldly population would have been impossible without the women as world was build up after the incarnation of Maa Parvathi only.

“Spent Some Days In That Forest”

He used to get sad sometimes after meeting Lord Shiva because before coming back He never met Maa. One day He was very depressed and was crying because He was missing Maa’s love very much. Lord Shiva and Maa Parvathi were watching Him from above. Then Lord Shiva started meditating and Maa Parvathi came to meet Him and asked Him the reason why He was crying.

She said that He should be happy as Lord Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh appeared in front of Him and blessed Him and gave Him His Guru too. He told her while crying that He was not blesses by His Maa.

“Blessings Of Maa”

Maa then made Him understand many things and blessed Him that she will be with Him all the time. If He will be under any kind of difficulty then She will help Him and will take it upon Her. Then She left and His soul got departed from His body by the end of the day.

“Lord Shankar told Maa Parvathi

The Story To Be Immortal”

After meeting the boy, Maa went to Lord Shiva and prayed Him that He can give devotion, chances of serving The Lords and births according to one’s

desires so will He listen to Her desire? Then The Lord asked Her that which desire is still unfulfilled of Her? He gave Her 108 births to reach Him, married Her, and gave her devotional and meditational powers and full honour to sit besides Him. What else does she want? Then Maa told Him that Naarad Muni once told Her that the one who listens to the ‘Immortal Story’ by The Lord, gets immortal forever.

“Going To The Den”

After listening to Her desire, Lord Shiva took Maa Parvathi to the den. No else was present there except both of them.

Lord Shiva then started telling the story to Her and asked her not to sleep in between otherwise she will not bear the complete fruit of the story. She said she will not and Lord started speaking. Maa was saying ‘hmm-hmm’ in order to make The Lord confirm that She was listening to Him. After sometime, Maa slept and a pigeon started making his sound instead of Maa. This pigeon was actually a cursed man by his Guru. He could hear ‘The Story’ because he was a great devotee of The Lord. When the story finished, Lord saw that Maa was sleeping. So The Lord said that whoever was making the sound instead of Maa and was listening to the story should come before Him at first. Then the pigeon suddenly flew away and got immortal.

Then Maa told Him that she wanted the pigeon to listen to ‘The Immortal Story’ because he was made a pigeon due to a curse by his Guru. He had to get immortal in His 3rd birth. Because of Lord’s blessings, the pigeon got the birth of that divine boy.

This den is the very popular ‘Amarnath Gufa’ of these days which is covered with snow every time. On the festival of Raksha Bandhan, a complete ‘Shiva Linga’ appears there made up of snow and melts by the evening. People visit this place in large number between the month of July and August to see this. Many times the roads get blocked by the snow.

Many Lords and Goddesses visited this place in order to get immortal.

“BABA JI’S 3 rd BIRTH ”

“Devotees Made God Happy”

Once there lived a priest with his wife in a village. Both of them used to serve the Shiva Temple day and night heartedly. Both of them were very different from each other like, the priest used to say that praying a stone idol is foolishness and just a show off and he will get nothing out of it but his wife had true faith in worshiping God that way. She was of the view that everything is given to us by God. Births, marriage, food, water, happiness, sadness, etc. is all the fruits of serving and preaching God. So many a times, they used to fight at this.

“ Reason To Fight Among The Two ”

The main reasons were that they were not did get to eat food daily and had very few clothes to wear nor were they blessed with a child yet. People used to taunt them by saying that they had nothing in their house by serving and praying God all the time which made them feel sad.

“Getting Fruits For Hard Work From Lord Shiva”

Sometimes the priest never used to pray Lord Shiva nor he pours water on the ‘Shiva Linga’, but his wife got a baby boy due to her devotion towards Lord Shiva. She used to clean the temple everyday and pour water upon the ‘Shiva Linga’.

Page 20: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Birth Of A Boy”

One day in the morning, both the priest and his wife were pouring water upon the ‘Shiva Linga’ then the priest said that they will get nothing out of it. His wife then told him that they will get full blessings in a few days. He was born on 2nd June at 12:45 at night in a village named Junagarh in Gujarat. His father’s name was Narayan and mother’s name was Lakshmi. Both were the devotees of Lord Shiva. Because of their devotion, the pigeon that heard ‘The Immortal Story’ from Lord Shiva and became immortal was born as a child here.

“Condition Of The House”

The house contained two rooms. There was a dry Neem tree in front of the house which was compared with the couple without a child.

“Clothing Of His Parents”

His father used to wrap a loincloth (dhoti) around him with a half sleeved vest on the top. He used to put a red cotton cloth around his shoulders. Sometimes wore shoes too, an umbrella in a hand and gold earrings in both the ears.

The mother used to wear a simple red or blue bordered saree. A small mark (Tilak) used to be there on her forehead, bangles in her wrists. Sometimes wore foot wears and sometimes not. So the boy was from a poor family. They did not get to eat food daily, so sometimes had to sleep with empty stomachs.

Page 21: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Raising The Balak”

From the day of the birth of the boy, His mother started praying and preaching Lord Shiva more as the boy resembled The Lord so much. He had deep dark complexion. After that His father started praying Lord Shiva too. Then they started caring and raising the child carefully.

“Keeping A Name”

When the child got 13 days older the parents invited the villagers at their home and distributed sweets and took good wishes from them. The same by referring a book ‘Jantri’ and his ‘Kundli’, his name was kept Jagjivan Ram as his mother wanted him to live a long life. One of the ladies from the crowd said that the boy’s complexion is as dark as a butcher.

This shows that a highly devotional person is neglected and disobeyed by the society from the very beginning of his path.

“Childhood”

As the time passed, more and more people came to know about the newly born child of Narayan, the priest. Everybody used to give him good wishes.

Lakshmi then said that with an informal name Jagjivan Ram, they will also call Him ‘Balak Nath’ as a Formal name because He looks like Lord Shiva and in future He will be called as Nath.

Page 22: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

Then she told His father that because He was just as the reflection of Lord Shiva and His hairs too were like the Naths so they started calling Him ‘Balak Nath’. She then prayed to God to bless her child. When Balak got one and a half years old, His mother with teaching how to speak, walk, sit, etc. taught Him how to pour water on ‘Shiva Linga’ too and made Him chant ‘OM NAMAH SHIVAAY’. People used to get very happy on seeing a small child doing all this.

“Childhood Plays”

Balak used to play with the pictures of God, Shiva Linga, Naag Devta and Chimta. One day while playing He had a fight with another boy who took His Chimta and He beat him up. The boy’s mother then told Balak’s mother about the incidence and Balak’s mother without giving it a single thought scolded Him and beat Him up. Balak got angry and did not ate His food and slept crying at night. In the morning when mother came to wake Him up, He did not wake up because He was angry with her.

“Sacrificing Home”

On being angry with His mother, He left His home. A few miles away from home He thought that He wanted to die now but suddenly His conscience told Him that by this His parents would be very sad so it would be better if He would leave the village and move to a far off place. Moving further, He met a monk who asked Him where He was going, to which He replied that He was going to meet Lord Shiva.

“Meeting The Guru At The Age Of Three”

Page 23: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

The monk whom He met on His way was Naarad Muni who told Him about His last birth that He have to move upon Lord Shiva’s orders and have to leave His home at the age of three. Lord Shiva told Him ‘The Immortal Story’ when He was a pigeon and made Maa sleep. He got the blessing to get immortal after that and He was the same child then.

Then He said that with giving Balak the power to be immortal, He was blessed with the powers to serve and take care of the needy in the KALYUGA. Lord Shiva gave Him His Guru i.e. Guru Dattatra whose blessings are still there with Him in this birth.

“Describing Guru”

Guru Dattatra Himself is a complete whole of Lord Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh where on the left side is Lord Brahma, in the middle is Lord Vishnu and on the right side is Lord Shiva. He has three faces, 6 arms and 2 feet. He wore Paauwen in His feet. He carries an iron bowl with a lid to hang it on his hand (Kamandal), a Trishul, Chakra, a Lotus and a big Shell in His hands always. He wraps a yellow Dhoti around Him and a Parna on His shoulder, Rudraksh garland around His neck and sign of a moon with pure sandal paste on His forehead. There is a black dog with Him.

“Getting A Guru Hymn”

Rishi Naarad Muni then told Him all about Lord Shiva, His Guru and The Amar Katha (Immortality Story). He described Him His Guru so that He could recognize Him and asked Him to take His name at His each breath. He told ‘JAI GURU DATTATRAYE NAMAH’ a hymn to Him to chant and then left.

Page 24: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Complete Meditation”

Then going a bit far He found a Banyan Tree under which He started meditating. He was so lost in meditating upon ‘OM GURU DATTATRAYE NAMAH’ that He did not get to know anything about the outer world and His body. That is why; His Guru could hear His voice. Then Guru came to bless Him and told Him that now He don’t have to sit at one place but He have to go to a Yatra i.e. Char Dham Ki Yatra in which one has to visit many great holy places and temples in order to pray to God and get His blessings. If He will face any difficulty then He was told to chant the same hymn so that Guru can come to help Him anytime anywhere.

He then told Him to chant ‘GURU-GURU RAKSHAK GURU’ if somebody will hurt or irritate Him. By chanting this He will get rid of such difficulties. Then He wished Naarad and He left.

“Lost In Meditation”

He was very happy to know that whatever Naarad Muni told Him as a story was all true. If He would have denied his told path then He would not be able to get His Guru. Then happily He lost in chanting ‘OM GURU DATTATRAYE NAMAH’ and he could not feel a day-night, morning-evening, shades-hot sun, lightening-thunderstorms, etc.

“Lord Shiva and Maa Parvathi Watching From Kailash

Mountain”

Page 25: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

Lord Shiva and Maa Parvathi were watching their written play in act with their eyes that the boy was now full of devotion and meditation; He got His Guru and His preaching and was following His told path now.

“Sending Maa Parvathi to Balak”

Lord Shiva asked Maa Parvathi that She was watching everything from there so why don’t she go to visit Balak? Then Maa asked the reason of sending Her.

Lord told Her that when Balak was 81 years old in His last birth then She promised Him that when He will serve, devote and meditate God in next birth then She will be His protector by standing beside Him to save Him from the harmful natural causes when He will be lost in meditating God. Now She has to save Him from the shades-hot sun, winters-summers and thunderstorms, etc. as He was completely lost in God.

“Meeting Balak”

As Lord Shiva asked Her to do, She reached Balak’s place. He then opened His eyes and wished Her. Then He thanked Her for keeping Her promise by protecting Him and His body. Maa then said that She will be there with Him whenever He will be in any kind of difficulty. Balak then requested Maa to be with Him always as a spark of light because he has to travel now to achieve His own permanent place as a Guru and to serve people of the KALYUGA.

This is the reason that today in Baba Ji’s temple we see an oil lit spark of fire, basically in a small mud bowl (jot) every time.

Page 26: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Started Yatra”

After meeting Maa, He started marching towards His Guru’s premises and reached Shivalik Hills. It was a dense forest and winter time was going on. He was very hungry and thirsty and then sat upon a hill. He then saw some fruits on a tree. He ate them and then felt very thirsty but could not find water anywhere. Then He remembered His Guru and saw a stream of water flowing down from a hill. He saw His Guru as He was about to drink water.

“Guru Took ‘Balak’ To His Premises” (Guru Dera)

When He saw Guru Ji near the stream, Guru Ji blessed Him by saying that He was His youngest Follower but because He was a devotee of Lord Shiva and have heard ‘The Immortality Story’ so He was given the position to be His great follower and was placed on His right hand side. He will hold a ‘Chimta’ in left hand and will bless people from the right hand. Because He was not bare footed and wore Padam in His feet so He could go to the needy and sad on His own and could help them.

“Guru premises” (Dera)

Guru Dattatra Ji’s institution was on Girnaar Mountain. Many of His followers and preachers lived there with Him. There was a low wooden stool for Guru Ji which was always covered with a red piece of cloth. Near the stool, there used to sit 2 black dogs. He had four great followers among the rest of them. After they reached the premises, He Himself showed Balak the whole area and then gave Him a place to sit on His right side.

Page 27: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Followers Wanted An Introduction”

The four great followers then asked Guru Ji to introduce Balak to them. Then Guru Ji told them that He was ‘Balak Nath’, an incarnation and reflection of Lord Shiva as His follower as He gave Balak the knowledge of a ‘Word’ (NaamDaan).

“Mass Community Serving Of Meals To The People”

Guru Ji as promised gave Balak a place on His right side to sit and according to the system gave Him the knowledge of the ‘Word’ and then served food to one and all. For ex. Guru Gobind Singh Ji instead of serving food to His followers gave them His already drunk holy water to them.

“Guru Ji’s Meeting With An Old Woman”

When Guru Ji was sitting at His high place then an old woman came to see Him crying. He then asked her what the matter was. She told Him that she was from a nearby village named Khudi Wala. When she came to know about the mass serving of food at Guru Ji’s Dera so she did not took her cattle for grazing and was coming there with her son when a huge tiger took away her son from her. So she came to Him angrily.

“Testing His followers”

Page 28: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

Guru Ji after listening to the woman ordered His four great followers to find the woman’s son which might be of 5 to 6 years of age. They tied their hairs and flew up in the sky. They went in all the corners but could not see the boy anywhere and came back. They told their Guru that they could not see the boy anywhere.

“Testing Balak”

Guru Ji then told Balak that now it was His turn to go and find the boy. He then folded His hands in front of Guru Ji, took His blessings and according to the orders started marching towards the forest to find the boy.

“Finding The Tiger”

As Guru Ji’s blessings were with Balak, so He reached that place where the tigers used to live. Firstly, He thought something, got a bit scared and then asked His Guru in His thoughts that there are so many tigers in the forest so which one would be the wanted one? Then He chanted..:

‘Jai Guru Dattatraye Namah, Guru-Guru Rakshak Guru Namah’ and saw a tiger who was chewing the bones and was filled with blood. Then Balak folded His hands. Closed His eyes, remembered Maa Vaishno Devi and told Her that her tiger has swallowed a small child. His Guru Ji was asking for the same child from Him. So now She can only make the child alive and give him to Balak as She promised to help Him from difficulties.

Then suddenly the same tiger turned into a human beast in front of Him. He got very scared that now the beast will eat Him up. As he stepped towards Him, He hurt him with His ‘Chimta’. After got hurt, the beast asked Balak if He knows who the beast is. The Balak answered negatively. The beast then laughed and told Him that he was Veer Nahar Singh, a ferocious beast in the form of a tiger. Balak asked him why he ate the child to which he replied that he was old now and could not go to the forest to search for his prey. So he sits outside his stone den and eat the other animals who pass that way. That day no animal came there till the afternoon except that child so he ate him and the old woman left the place crying.

Page 29: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

She then told Guru Ji everything but He was already aware of it. Firstly, He wanted to test His four great followers who could not find him then Balak found him due to His Guru’s blessings. Now the beast will be immortal and will be present to serve Him all the time. Balak then told him that He just want the child as His Guru told Him to.

“Promises by Veer Nahar Singh to The Balak”

Veer Nahar Singh then told Balak that he will return the child but what will he get to eat then. Balak said that He Himself do not eat anything so asked him what does he want to which Nahar Singh said that he too wants to be like Him not to eat anything. Balak then said that whenever He will get a deserving place for Himself then Veer Nahar Singh will protect and serve His flag. He will get the smell of a torn goat but will never get to eat it. Then the beast took out the child in front of Him, Balak took the child and went to His Guru back.

“Returning Back To The Guru”

As Balak Nath Ji reached back to His Guru Ji, He bowed His head and put the child down at His feet. All the others who were standing there got amazed on seeing such a small boy who found the child. Guru Ji then gave the old woman her child and told her that this boy was an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The day belonged to Him only as Guru was to give Him the knowledge of a ‘word’ so there was a mass community serving of food at the premises. The old woman then thanked Him and Guru Ji and ate the food.

“Completion Of The Mass Community Serving Of Food”

She then went to her home back. Guru Ji blessed ‘Balak Nath’ and said that He passed in the very first test on the very first day due to His complete devotion in His God. The other four followers then bade forgiveness from Guru Ji and asked Him the total introduction of Balak Nath.

Page 30: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Introducing Balak Nath By Guru Ji To The Four Followers”

Guru Dattatra Ji told His first four followers that this was the same boy who heard the ‘Immortality Story’ in the ‘Amarnath Gufa’ in the form of a pigeon from Lord Shiva due to which He was now immortal. He is completely blessed by Lord Shiva so got birth as a complete devotee of The Lord as He was the same in His last birth too. Now His devotion was complete that is why He sacrificed His home at the age of 3 and started finding His Guru. Guru Ji then gave Him the knowledge of a ‘Word’ and served food by His name. So now everybody came to know that because of Balak Nath’s full devotion, powers, faith, hard work and blessings of the Guru, He passed in the test and became a great follower and a student. The great follower is then seated on the right side of the Guru.

“Getting Holy Gifts From The Guru”

After Balak Nath’s test, Guru Ji blessed Him and said that He will be called till the world will exist as SIDDH BABA BALAK NATH because He has Lord Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh and Maa’s blessings always with Him. People will call Him ‘BABA’ because having the age of 51 years He will be seen as a small boy. He will be called as a ‘NATH’ because He will be called above all the rest ‘NATHS’. But He will be somewhat different from the other Naths because He will be as a ‘monk’. Then Guru Ji gave Him a ‘Chimta’ in His right hand which has all kinds of powers in it but people will count it as a normal thing. Then He gave Him ‘Viraagan’, ‘Faudhi’, ‘Jholi’, ‘Pauwen’, ‘Kamandal’, ‘Trishul’, ‘Rudraksh Garland’, ‘Langot’ and His sign as a silver pendant in a thread (Singi) and said that He will be the only Nath who will wear a Singi except the earrings. Guru Ji then blessed Him and ordered Him to start His ‘Yatra’ i.e. ‘Char Dham Ki Yatra’ and Balak Nath bowed in front of His Guru and then left with all the gifts and blessings.

Page 31: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Meeting Nahar Singh”

As Balak Nath was a few miles away, He heard a voice saying that what about His promises. Then He remembered His promises with the beast in the forest and went to see him.

“Nahar Singh Trapped By ‘Baba Badbhaag Singh’”

Baba Badbhaag Singh’s temple and Premises is near Una. He used to live in the same village. He saw Nahar Singh eating the humans and animals of the forest. He then started meditating Maa Durga under a tree with a small Dhoona (holy fireplace) near him. The beast then used to stay on the other side of the river due to the flames.

He then caught and trapped Nahar Singh with the blessings of Baba Ji and Maa Vaishno Devi. Nahar Singh then thought that if He will be tied and trapped in a cage then He will not be able to live. Then He remembered the promises of Balak Nath with Him.

Balak Nath reached there and saw Nahar Singh trapped by BABA BADBHAAG SINGH by which Nahar Singh was calling BALAK NATH (BABA JI) with folded hands to keep His promises Baba Ji then told Baba Badbhaag Singh that a Gurudwara on the name of Singhs, a Dera on the name of BABA and a temple on powers will be there with His place at the river side where the evil

Page 32: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

spirits and ghosts will get freed. VEER NAHAR SINGH will serve all these spirits and ghosts with his own hands there and will get to eat by Balak Nath.

“A Promise To Give Food To Nahar Singh By Baba Ji”

Nahar Singh got released from the cage by Balak Nath who told Him that He will serve His flag in His temple which will be built in the same place. He ordered to Him to stay and protect the children inside the womb of their mother for 9 months and when the child is born then the parents have to give a small goat to sacrifice. Nahar Singh will only get the smell of the sacrificed goat and not to eat it.

Nahar Singh then asked the reasons for his orders to which Balak Nath told him that He was freed from the cage by Him and He asked Him to serve Him forever so these were the orders for Him. So till now whenever a mother prays desperately for a child to Balak Nath, she gets that and in order to return thanks a small goat is sacrificed by them, the smell of which is given to Veer Nahar Singh. Baba Balak Nath Ji in order to take a token of thanks of the mothers take Rot, Halwa, Kadhai and some fine money from them.

In the temple, the sacrificed goats are not eaten because it is the thanking gift to Baba Ji for a child. Whoever does it, they have to regret and pay for it and their life is ruined. These goats are not sold to a butcher. If sold then the seller is not forgiven by Baba Ji. The goats are as free as Baba Ji then.

“Visiting A Temple During Yatra”

After blessing Veer Nahar Singh, Balak Nath went to a temple which is in West Bengal (Kolkota). The temple had 8-10 stairs before it. One had to climb them to enter the temple. At the gate there were small 84 bells and one huge bell. On entering there was a big picture of Lord Vishnu in

Page 33: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

the front. In another room there was a statue of Lord Ganesha. As He rang the big bell at the gate, He saw His Guru Dattatra Ji right in front of Him. As He went closer, He saw that it was the statue of Lord Vishnu in which Lord Krishna showed the universe to His mother Yashoda in His mouth. He bowed His head there too and then listened that His Yatra is successful as firstly He saw His Guru Ji and secondly Lord Ganesha came to bless Him.

By this He got all the powers (Ridhiyan and Sidhiyan). Then the 84 bells rang and He heard that whenever somebody will pray for something from Him then firstly the voice will go to The Guru and then will reach Him.

“Visiting The 2 nd Temple ”

The second temple was situated nearby the 1st temple only. When He reached there, He was feeling very hungry and thirsty. As He reached the main gate, He saw Lord Shiva Ji’s family with The ‘Shiva Linga’ there. He got so happy and so excited that He forgot His Hunger and thirst. When He went near the statues, He saw that the whole family was actually sitting there. He bowed His head and started chanting ‘OM NAMAH SHIVAAY’. After chanting for some time, He saw the whole family blessing Him with luck for success for His destiny. Then He went into the nearby village.

“Meeting The Snake Charmer”

When He went a bit far from the temple, He saw ‘Shesh Naag’ (a huge snake) which He saw with the snake charmer whom He met. He was trying to scare ‘Balak Nath’ from his snake and was asking Him which kind of snake that one was. Then He told Raheem-Ud-Din snake charmer that the snake is now the source of income for him because he used to break the snake holes and put sand into them in his last birth. So now in this

Page 34: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

birth, the kind of snake ‘Khariya’ which is also known as ‘Shesh Naag’ are living with him and eating by his earnings. This was the outcome of the seeds that he bowed for his own self in his last birth. But all this was actually ‘Balak Nath’s big test as His Guru Dattatra Ji had come in the form of the snake charmer to test Him.

“Success In 2 nd Test ”

The 1st test taken at the very first day was when He met Guru Dattatra Ji and the second one was taken by Guru Ji appearing as a snake charmer to see that whether Balak Nath stops somewhere in between His journey or not as His Guru told Him not to. Balak Nath due to His inner light of knowledge recognized the snake and the charmer’s history of his previous birth. His Guru Ji was very happy by His response. He could clearly see His Guru Ji behind the mask of the snake charmer as He was completely devoted towards Him and was a true and honest student of His.

“Reaching A Baniya’s Shop”

This man was a rich person of the village who had a big sweet shop and a big house so was a proud person. When Balak Nath stood in front of his shop, He saw the same He heard about this man from the villagers. When He called him from outside, this man ignored His call and still went on stirring the milk that he had kept to boil. Then Balak Nath again asked for some milk. The man then asked Him about the money for milk. He said He did not have any money but was hungry. Then the man saw His face and asked Him to give His ‘Kamandal’ to him. Balak Nath said that if He will give him His ‘Kamandal’ then He will be left with nothing in which He could drink the milk. Then the man asked Him to give him His ‘Jholi’. Balak Nath then told him that all these are the signs of His Guru Ji’s blessings and wholesome of Ridhi, Sidhi and devotion which He has to take care of very well. The man then said that milk will not be given without the money. Balak Nath then told him that He is as his own child so he should not

refuse Him for some milk when He is hungry. The other people who were sitting at his shop were listening to the conversation. Then while giving Him some milk in His ‘Kamandal’, he asked for His ‘Langot’. So Balak Nath after being compelled a lot tore a piece of cloth form His ‘Langot’ and gave it to him and left the place. As He left, the man threw that piece of ‘Langot’ in the fire by which a huge flame rose up. Seeing all this, Lord Shiva got very angry that still the baniya man did not understood and was sailing in his fake pride.

“Baniya Got Finished”

The baniya’s pride got ignited when he threw the piece of langot into the fire. Seeing all this Lord Shiva got angry on him so his child who was playing on the terrace of his home fell down. His wife ran towards the crying child and her dupatta got fire from the fire place which burnt the whole house. The villagers ran to inform the baniya man about the incidence that his house was now turned into ashes. The baniya man then came and saw huge flames coming out of his house. Seeing the brightness of the flames he remembered about the piece of cloth that he put into fire. He realized that the piece was burnt into his pride rather than the fire. The people started talking many things with each other. The baniya man then came to know that the small child who came to ask for milk at his shop was not an ordinary child. He was the incarnation of God who broke his self-pride, turned his house into ashes and ultimately he lost his child too. Baniya then stood up and started walking in search of the child.

“Searching For The Balak”

The baniya man then went towards his shop and moved on the same path that Balak took while leaving his shop. He saw Balak sitting under a tree. He folded his hands in front of Him and said that because of getting blind in his pride, he could not recognize Balak but when his life turned into ashes then he realized that Balak was actually an incarnation of Lord Shiva as a small child. He then requested Balak Nath to make his son alive and bade forgiveness from Him. The great forgiving Balak’s heart got melted and He gave him the ‘Holy Water’ to

sprinkle upon his burnt up house and his dead son so that both can come to life once again. Balak then told the baniya man that all this happened because of his ill deeds in life and his ill behavior with Him as He had to give him the piece of cloth from His ‘Langot’ after being compelled a lot from him which he then threw into the fire which was actually a piece of cloth from the gifts of the Lords (His Guru) to Balak. So that was a big mistake on his part.

“ Baniya Was Sad Because Of His Proudy Behaviour”

As the baniya man took the holy water from Balak and was returning back home, he saw the people breaking his shop and his material. He got very angry seeing all this but did not spoke a word and went towards his home. Many people were there surrounding his house. He sprinkled the holy water upon both his son and wife and they woke up. People there got so surprised and asked him how he did it. The baniya then told them the whole story that a small child came to him at his shop and was asking for some milk for free. He in spite of giving him the milk started irritating the child. Then the child told him to take Him as his own son and should not refuse him for some milk. Still baniya could not understand the child that without ever knowing about his family how could the child guess about his son? The baniya instead kept on asking for one thing or the other from Balak in return of giving Him some milk. Then he asked for a piece of cloth from His Langot. Balak gave him a piece in return of some milk and told him to keep it safe and to take care of it. But as Balak left his shop, he threw that piece into the fire which caught huge flames. As the flames rose up in his shop, his child fell down from the terrace. As the piece of cloth turned into ashes, his house too turned into ashes. Then he realized that the child was not some ordinary human being but some great divine power and then started looking for the child here and there. When he found Balak, he bade forgiveness from Him and sacrificed his pride. Then He gave him holy water which made his son and wife alive again. After listening to his story, the people were very amazed and started talking ear to ear about the child. They were saying that a great divine child came to their village to break the baniya’s selfish pride. They then kept His name ‘BABA BALAK NATH’.

“Meeting The Magician”

After the baniya left, Balak Nath went towards another village. As He reached there, He saw an open door of a mud house so He called ‘Alakh’ from outside. A woman came screaming that He should have at least seen the time before calling out of her house as it was the sleeping time. He then told her that He wanted to wake up the sleeping persons and called again. She told Him to stop as her child was sleeping. After all this, He left the place. The woman went inside and saw that her child had slept forever i.e. was dead. She tried a lot to wake her child but left in vain. Balak Nath wanted to save the child’s life that is why He was calling in front of her house. If the child would have woken up then he might have been alive.

“Deeds Of The Magician”

This lady magician used to rob and kill the people who used to cross from the front of her house. Sometimes she used to turn the people into goats and sheep. She even killed a child few days back. His mother then cursed the lady magician that the one who has killed her child, the same person will also see her child’s death one day which turned out to be true. That was the reason that the lady magician’s child got dead. Then Balak Nath carried on His ‘Yatra’.

“Break On The Way”

Balak Nath was moving on from the forests leaving all the villages and towns in His way behind. At night, He sat under a tree and started meditating His Lord and Guru Ji. Then He realized that His Guru Ji had sent Him for ‘Char Dham Ki Yatra’ but He started testing people on the way. He then bade forgiveness from His Guru Ji and promised Him that He will not test anyone from then. He did not sleep the whole night to punish Himself for this mistake.

“Reaching The Town Ambala”

There He saw a railway track and a dense forest with houses somewhere. People told Him that there were many tigers, peacocks, deer, etc. in the forest so it was difficult to go through the forest but He did not paid much attention towards them and went into the forest. Then He saw a river flowing by the forest. He drank some water and sat down to rest there.

“Inauguration Of A Temple”

A temple of “BABA BALAK NATH JI” at the bank of the river Tegli was built there which is still there as it is. It is a very old temple. Balak Nath rested there for 18 hours. When in the morning He woke up to start His Yatra, He saw a woman coming towards Him. She was carrying packed lunch with her. She asked Balak Nath whether He was hungry or not to which He replied that He was very hungry. She then sat down and Balak Nath left His ‘Dhoona’ and sat beside her. She opened her pile of packed chapattis which were 5 of them made out of dries corn’s (Maize) flour. She gave Him two and a half chapattis with brown sugar (Gudh). Again tied her food bowed her head and left the place. With this, Balak Nath spent 18 moments with her. Balak Nath then said that there would be a huge temple at that place someday with The Dhoona. People will know Him because He ate the Maize flour chapattis with gudh there. The place will be known by the name of Babiyal town. Then He started walking towards Punjab.

“Temple In Town Babiyal”

In the evening when the woman was returning back she could not see Balak Nath at that place so she started looking for Him here and there but could not find any sign of His. She then thought that Balak Nath might have gone to some other place and did not let the ‘Dhoona’ lit by Balak Nath blow off. When everybody came to know about the Dhoona in the village then many rich people

Page 40: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

like doctors, social workers etc. went to see the place. The doctor took the responsibility to check and maintain the place. A man standing next to the doctor (Darshan Singh) told him that he will serve the temple. He started cleaning the Dhoona place every morning after taking his bath. When that woman used to bring the wooden sticks for Dhoona (Paathi Wood), he used to take them from her and keep them safe. Till date the same Dhoona lit by Balak Nath is blowing up there slowly, many other people from near and far off places also started coming to visit that place. Like this, a temple of “BABA BALAK NATH JI” was built there.

“ Reaching Punjab”

As Balak Nath reached Punjab and was walking through many of its villages and towns, He noticed that nobody recognized or asked or called Him there. He then reached a place Navanshehar near Hoshiarpur and was very tired so He stopped there to spend His night there. Then He went to ask for food from the nearby houses. People gave Him spinach, chapattis made from maize flour and Lassi. He took His food and came to His resting place.

In the evening, after He lit The Dhoona and started eating His food, He thought that people of Punjab were busy day and night to earn money and instead to know about God, they only know about how to work hard to earn more and more money as the spinach takes a lot of time to be cooked so they do not have any time for their God. So He thought that He will have to leave Punjab and will have to go to the mountains. A huge temple was then built at that place where He lit His Dhoona. Many other temples were also built up at the other places for Him in Punjab.

“Going To The Hill Of ‘Maa Naina Devi’ ”

When He started walking from Hoshiarpur towards Navanshehar, He started climbing the hill from a middle way. That way was going towards the temple of ‘Maa Naina Devi’. He then actually saw Maa there and bowed in front of Her. He

Page 41: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

came to know that He met Her as Maa Vaishno Devi and not as Maa Parvathi in His previous birth. He got very happy seeing Banyan and Long Pepper trees all around. He thought that now was the time when He will find a hill for Himself for His permanent place where Banyan and Long Pepper trees would be in large number. He did not spend His night there and started walking down the hill from the back side. Before dusk, He crossed the ‘Gobind Sagar’, a river and reached another hill.

“Resting At The Other Hill”

He could see the back of Maa Naina Devi temple from this hill. There was a small river there with some Brahmin’s houses. They used to work at their houses like preparing sweets, mythological teachings, building idols of Gods like of Lord Shiva’s family and Shesh Naag. After seeing all the houses there He saw a temple of Lord Shiva there. He saw a Shiva Linga covered with Shesh Naag in that temple. The temple was surrounded with mango trees. He lit His Dhoona under those trees.

“Dawn Timing”

He took His bath from the small river flowing nearby. Then He served and prayed to the Shiva Linga in the temple and started walking. The place is now known as ‘Shiva Boudhi’. There is a Shiva temple with a Dhoona there and water is flowing all the time in the Boudhi.

“Moving Further”

When He started walking further from that temple He saw a tough path. He saw water flowing from the top of the mountain and started walking towards it. As He reached near the flowing water, He saw so many Banyan and Long Pepper trees planted all over that place.

He considered the place to be good for meditating and resting as there was also a small village nearby.

Page 42: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Reaching Shah Talai”

When He reached at the bank of the river, He saw so many Banyan and Long-Pepper trees planted together which means that Lord Brahma is present there for meditation. So He too thought to sit at that place to meditate and serve His Guru. He lit His Dhoona and sat there. By the evening He came to know that people do not give any food or money to anyone who knocks at the door even if it would be some beggar. He then thought to work for someone to fill His stomach. He then went into the village and started asking home to home if anybody wanted someone for some work. But everybody ignored the calls. He again called in the same street and then an old lady came out to see and called Him. She asked Him that as He was a small child so how could He work for someone. She asked what type of work He could do. Balak Nath replied that though He was a small child, He could do any small or big work as He was blessed with the powers from His Guru Ji.

“Enquiring About Balak Nath”

The old lady then asked Him amazingly that how His parents could sent such a small child out of the house to work hard and earn? He then told her that He was the only child of His parents and when somebody told something wrong about Him to His mother so she got angry and beat Him so He thought not to a reason of anger for His mother anymore and wanted to see her happy so He left home Himself. The old lady then asked Him about His Guru. He told her that son of Rishi Attari and Ansuya, Guru Dattatra Ji was His Guru.

His Guru has sent Him for ‘Char Dham Ki Yatra’ i.e. to visit the most pure and powerful temples of the big Lords and Goddesses.

“Balak Kept As A Servant By Maa ”

She was ‘Ratno’ and villagers used to call her by saying ‘Ratno Maai’. She told Him that as She did not had her own child so He will be as Her son so will not do any hard and tough work.

He just had to do the household work. He then asked Her what type of work She was talking about? She told Him to take all Her 15 cows to graze in the morning and to return back by the evening with them and then the mother and Her son will sleep. Then Balak told Her that as He was on His Yatra so He cannot sleep under the shed till His Yatra completes. She then got worried and asked Him where would He spend His nights then? He said that He would stay with His Dhoona under the Banyan tree. She then told Him to come in the morning. He did not got anything to eat that day. He was sleeping and then remembered in His dream that in His previous birth, an old lady used to give Him something to eat and told Him that His meditation would increase by serving the animals and the other people. So He thought not to eat anything and to take Ratno Maa’s cattle to graze.

“Taking Cattle To Graze”

Balak Nath woke up in the morning as per His routine. He did His prayers and started walking towards Ratno Maa’s place with chanting ‘OM NAMAH SHIVAAY’. As Maa saw Him She Happily said, “Here comes My Child”. Then Balak Nath said, “As U Say Maa”.

She then put together all the cows and told Him that He was the care taker of the cows and She was not able to take care of them properly due to her age. He had to serve them fully as they are like Goddesses. He then bowed His head in front of Her and left the house with all the cows. She then asked Him that where was She supposed to come to give Him lunch? He told Her to come and see Him under the tree (boddhaan) and give Him food.

By telling this, He started walking behind the cows. A few miles away from home, He saw that the cows started grazing themselves so He sat for meditation near His Dhoona.

“Villagers Taunting Ratno Maa”

In the noon time, when Maa was taking lunch for Balak Nath, the people started taunting Her by saying that She has kept a servant with no salary. Then Maa told them that He was not a worker but an incarnation of Lord Shiva and now was as Her own child too so she was going to give Her son some food. She then saw the cows that were silently grazing their grass. She called Balak Nath for lunch. He got up from His Dhoona place and came towards Her. She then kept the small bundle of lunch from Her head down. He by folding His hands told Maa that He sits under the Banyan Tree with His Dhoona. He told Her to put the milk or lassi in the hole of stone near that tree and to put the chapattis in the hole of the tree for Him. That was a Long Pepper tree. Maa asked Him when He will eat His food then. He told Her that He eats only when He feels very-very hungry otherwise He does not eat anything.

She used to bring very simple food for Him. Some thick chapattis with oil on them, two of them were salty or sometimes with Gudh which were either with lassi or sometimes with milk.

“Returning Back Home With The Cows”

As the sun was about to come down, He used to call the cows by saying “It’s going to be dusk time cows, so it’s time to go back home”. As the cows used to hear this, they all started walking behind one and another towards home. He then used to call Maa from the door that He was back with the cows and calves and then used to go back at His Dhoona place.

“Relatives Fought With Maa”

After doing work for some days, the relatives of Maa started fighting with Her. They used to warn Her by telling that even the own blood was not reliable for the parents then this one is not even a relative but just a worker whom She treats as Her son. He will also ask for His share of property from Her one day. Maa told them that Balak was surely as a son to Her but He does not even live in Her house with Her but stays under His sacred tree.

“ Relatives Again Fought With Maa”

Balak kept on grazing Maa’s cattle. The relatives of Maa thought that now Balak came very close to Her and works there as Her own son might have worked for Her. People were very amazed seeing such kind of a relationship. They decided to play a prank with Balak. They let His cows loose in the fields and told Maa that Balak does not take care of the cattle and let them go in the crop fields and Himself lost in meditation under His tree. Maa then replied that Her son could never be so careless as Her cattle started giving more milk than before when they did not even gave a litre before which shows that Balak was a good care taker of the cows.

The relatives then asked Her to come and enquire the site Herself. She went to the farms and saw that Her cows were all with Balak and it was somebody’s else cows grazing in the fields. She then asked Balak that whether it was true that He let Her cows loose and sit to meditate. He told Her that He keeps the cows besides His sitting place after coming from home and not in anybody’s fields. He asked Her that if somebody thought to create a fight between Him and Ratno Maa then he should show Him the ransacked fields. Everybody said that the field right in front of them has been destroyed. Some of the relative then started filling Her ears against Balak Nath that the one whom Ratno Maa was feeding since so long without taking a single penny, that boy was stating Her and Her cows responsible for the ransacked fields of Krishan Lal. Balak Nath after hearing all this started walking towards the field. Ratno Maa and many other people followed Him. What they saw there was fully grown fields of Krishan Lal which were much better in condition than other’s fields. Everybody got so much surprised on the sight.

Page 46: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“Report In Police Station Against Balak Nath”

At one side the people were telling lies about Balak Nath to Ratno Maa that He let the cows loose in the fields to destroy them and on th other side some of them went to a Police Station to file a report against Balak Nath that He was a servant of Ratno Maa who let Her cows loose in other people’s fields and do not listen to anybody. Then the Police Inspector said that if all this came out to be true then he will put Balak Nath inside the jail with His cows.

“Inspector’s Visit To Shah Talai”

As the Inspector reached Shah Talai to enquire about the matter, some people went to Ratno Maa and told Her that police was going to take Ratno Maa’s cows and Balak Nath with them. Ratno Maa got worried and told them He was as Her son so nothing would be left with Her if they will take away Her cows and Her son. When she reached to Her son She started scolding Balak Nath by saying that He never listened to what She used to tell Him. She always used to tell Him to take the cows at some other place rather than around the fields for grazing. She then taunted Him by saying that He disrespected Her badly. She kept on feeding Him with Roti and Lassi for free and in return of that Balak only gave Her disrespect of the whole village. Balak Nath then stood up and took everybody to show them the fields. He was 20 years old at that time. What everybody saw lead the inspector to say sorry to Balak Nath in front of the whole village as the fields were completely full of crop and were never destroyed. Then Ratno Maa thanked Lord Shiva as all the misconceptions between Her and Balak got cleared.

“ Murder Attempt On Balak Nath”

After some days, Krishan Lal who was Ratno Maa’s husband’s younger brother very cleverly sent a ferocious cow in Ratno Maa’s cows so that when Balak Nath will take all the cows for grazing that one will kill Him. The reason behind killing

Page 47: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

Balak Nath was Krishan Lal’s way of thinking. He thought that when Ratno Maa will die She will leave everything for Balak Nath as He was as Her son and he was not going to get any share from Her property. So his greed let him to take such a step. When Balak Nath took the cows with Him including the ferocious one, all the other cows started grazing and this one sat beside Balak Nath’s Dhoona and started licking the dust from that place with her tongue. Krishan Lal himself saw the scene with his eyes. He then got to know that Balak Nath was a very pure soul who was blessed by The Lords that is why He was showing miracles. After watching the scene he said that the ferocious cow was showing love to Balak Nath as His pet instead of hitting Him.

“Taking Complete Position For Meditation”

One day Balak Nath let the cows loose for grazing and sat below some dense bushes and stopped thinking about the cows. He went deep into His meditation. Suddenly He heard some loud noise and the bushes started shaking. He saw all around but found nothing. He then said that whoever was present there and was trying to break His concentration should swear upon Maa Parvathi and should come in its original form in front of Him. After hearing these words, ‘Shesh Naag’ came crawling down the bushes and stood in front of Him. As He stood up, He was in the form of Lord Ganesha. Balak Nath then greeted The Lord and asked Him the reason for His arrival.

“Blessings From Ganpati (Lord Ganesha)”

Balak Nath saw ‘Shesh Naag’ in the form of ‘Lord Ganesha’ as He was sent there by Lord Shiva. He then blessed Balak Nath by saying that He was always there below the ‘Guruna Bushes’ and so He will protect Balak Nath from the hot and bright sun and from the thunder and rain. Balak Nath asked Him how that was possible. He then told Him that He will always be above His head as a shelter to Him in the form of ‘Shesh Naag’ by which He can keep away all the difficulties of His life away from Him.

Page 48: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

Shesh Naag then vanished. Balak Nath daily started to meditate below those bushes through which the bushes turned green with fruits on them. Balak Nath used to eat those fruits sometimes and told that it was sometimes sweet and sometimes sour. When the fruit were all ripe, they were sweet otherwise they were sour.

“Yatra Of The Human World (Lok)

And The World Of Gods (Pralok)”

Once Balak Nath thought that He has served His God, meditated and went to so many places but He never actually saw the human world and the world of Gods in their original form because He only did what His Guru made Him do but still He could never reach up to the highest level of meditation that takes a person out of this world. Then He noticed the rain outside and decided to continue meditation with full concentration under the Guruna Bushes. While He was sitting, He saw that the rain was falling around the bushes only and it was bright sun above Him.

He got amazed and then sat still and started concentrating after closing His eyes. After some time He opened His eyes because He was not able to concentrate. He called the cows and told them to go back home themselves in the evening after grazing. He then greeted the cows by folding His hands and again sat in His position to meditate. While concentrating He saw His Guru Dattatra Ji and Lord Shiva in Their complete form. They showed Him the Heaven and the Hell and told Him that everybody has to pay according to their respective deeds on the earth where He was living.

Human world (Lok) is a place that He travelled on His ‘Yatra’ and the world of The Gods (Pralok) is the one which He was watching with them. This place was surrounded with heaven on one side and hell on the other side. In the middle sits the king of ‘Pralok’. He shows us the way towards Hell or Heaven according to our deeds. The owner of the Hell is Devil (Yam) and of the heaven is ‘Dharam Raj’. The one who picks you up from the earth is ‘Kaal Bhairo’. When Balak Nath saw and heard that He promised to Himself that He will never hurt human beings nor the insects and animals. He will always serve them. Then Guru Ji took Him to the Pralok. He saw that some people were crying standing there and some were

Page 49: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

laughing as if they were very happy. He then asked His Guru that everybody is supposed to be happy in heaven then what kind of sight that was? Guru Ji then told Him that those people reached there according to their respective levels of devotion towards God and their deeds. This place was The Door Of Salvation (Mukti Dwaar). One can only reach this place through the blessings of one’s own Guru. The people who were laughing were happy because they got salvation (Mukti) and the people who were crying were going to be born again on earth as their salvation Period was now over. Now they will be born as a human being on earth. Even The Lords and The Goddesses have to take births again on the earth when their time gets over. Guru Ji then told Him that even He was asked to have salvation in His 2nd birth but He refused and requested for birth once again. Now because of that request only He had to sacrifice His relationships with His parents because of the fight. He had to listen to people’s evil talks. He had to choose a Guru and obey Him. All these noble deeds will give Him His permanent place that will exist till Kalyuga. Guru Ji then told Him that His ‘Char Dham Ki Yatra’ was going to complete. After that He will get His place forever. All The Lords and The Goddesses along with His Guru will come to Him at His place to bless Him. He then asked His Guru Ji that will all this be possible someday.

Guru Ji then replied that everything will be true one day as Balak Nath sacrificed His parents, house and luxury when He was just three years old. He got the form of ‘Lord Shiva’ because He heard the ‘Amar Katha’. Everybody will come to His place to see Him and to take blessings from Him. Then Guru Ji blessed Balak Nath and sent Him back on earth. After some time, when He opened His eyes He saw that all the cows were sitting beside Him and ‘Shesh Naag’ was sitting covering His head as a shelter so that no rain should come upon Him. He then greeted the cows and asked them to follow Him back home.

“Meeting Gorakh Nath”

All The Lords and human beings know Gorakh Nath very well. He was the greatest Nath i.e. a true devotee with huge powers (Sidhi). Even He was on ‘Char Dham Ki Yatra’. When He reached Shah Talai, He saw Balak Nath sitting in His position quietly and meditating with Shesh Naag above His head. He got amazed and thought to make Balak Nath His follower because due to this He would get all the powers of Balak Nath (Sidhiyan) into Him and He will become the most powerful person.

Page 50: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

“ Occupying Gobind Sagar As A Living Place”

Next day Gorakh Nath sent His most obedient disciple Bhrathri to Balak Nath. Bhrathri saw Balak Nath sleeping with Shesh Naag covering His head and cows grazing besides Him peacefully. He got amazed at this sight. Bhrathri thought that He too should sit beside Balak Nath so that He could know the path to get complete knowledge. But He went back to Gorakh Nath and told Him what He saw.

“ Supernatural Trap By Gorakh Nath”

Gorakh Nath threw Balak Nath into a well with the help of His Supernatural trap. As Balak Nath fell inside it, the water pushed Him upwards because Balak Nath was a ‘Pir’ too. When Gorakh Nath got to know that Balak Nath came out of water, He locked Him up in a stone cave and covered its opening with a big heavy rock. Then Shesh Naag in the form of Lord Ganesha threw the stone with His super hiss and Balak Nath came out. Then Gorakh Nath buried Him in cow dung up till His head. This time His Guru Ji saved Balak. On the next day, Gorakh Nath with His powers destroyed all the fields of the villagers. When Ratno Maa came to feed Balak Nath, She saw all the destroyed fields on Her way and thought that Balak Nath did the same thing again. Then She saw that Balak was standing with the cows at His place. Maa called Him and told Him that she kept His food and lassi. She went back home and Balak Nath again sat in His position. Bhrathri came to Him again. He greeted Balak Nath and introduced Himself that He is the most obedient and loving disciple of Gorakh Nath. He has been sent to Balak Nath to convince Him to be Gorakh Nath’s follower. Balak Nath then told Bhrathri that He was a true disciple of His Guru Dattatra Maharaj. He was doing His meditation because of His Guru’s blessings. Then Bhrathri asked Him if He too could sit beside Him to do meditation.

“ Introduction Of Bhrathri”

Bhrathri was a king of Ujjain. His wife was Pingla. Gorakh Nath made Him His disciple due to His supernatural powers and abducted Pingla.

Gorakh Nath before making Bhrathri His disciple put some conditions in front of him to join Him. These were to wear earrings, to hold a ‘kamandal’ in hand, to carry a chimta, wearing no clothes at all except a ‘langot’ and to ask for money by knocking on the doors. King Bhrathri accepted all the conditions. Then Gorakh Nath told Him to go to His own palaces and ask for money (Bhiksha) and to call His own wife mother and to ask for money from her too and then He could come back. Bhrathri did the same and in the end gave His bhiksha to Gorakh Nath.

When Balak Nath listened to His story, He told Bhrathri that Gorakh Nath is a very good person with huge powers and He was not able to be His disciple. Balak Nath then told Bhrathri to tell Gorakh Nath the name of His Guru. Bhrathri then requested Him to let Him sit beside Him to meditate so that He could get free from the supernatural trap of Gorakh Nath. Balak Nath agreed but told Him to ask for permission from His Guru.

“Meditating With Balak Nath”

Bhrathri then sat with Him and told Him that He will take the permission some other day. Balak Nath agreed again.

After sometime Bhrathri asked Balak Nath to teach Him how to chant Guru’s name, how to sit as Guru’s position (Samadhi), Guru’s hymns (Guru Mantra) and The Dhoona. Balak Nath told Him that He will get to know everything when He will sit for 11 or 13 days with Him. Bhrathri agreed and then went back to Gorakh Nath. On His way He thought that He should start sitting with Balak Nath from that very moment only. So He went back and sat with Balak Nath. Balak Nath told Him to sit upon an Aasana i.e. by folding His legs and to start chant the hymns told by His Guru. But before that He should always chant “Guru Var Guru Var Kripa Karo” three times and should start His Guru’s hymn. Bhrathri started doing the same as Balak Nath told Him to.

“Visit To Balak Nath By Gorakh Nath”

When Gorakh Nath reached Shah Talai, He saw the blooming fields and Balak Nath sitting at His Dhoona. He thought to destroy the fields again with His Supernatural trap and then show the limit of His powers to Balak Nath. He then told Balak Nath that the villagers never lied about the fields. He told Him to get up and see the fields. He told Him to get up and see the fields that were again destroyed by the cows while He was sitting at His Dhoona. Gorakh Nath then criticized Balak Nath Ji that He lost all His respect between Him and Ratno Maa by being Her son as He never paid any cost of Her food and lassi. Balak then told Guru Gorakh Nath to check Himself that He kept all the Roti inside the whole of a tree and below it all the lassi till date is there. He never had Maa’s food but He always served Her cows and took care of them while they were grazing. Gorakh Nath then got very stunned.

“Taking Gorakh Nath To A Temple From

The Forest By Balak Nath Ji”

Balak told Gorakh Nath to come to the temple with Him as it was His time to go there. Gorakh Nath refused to accompany Him. Seeing all this, the two sisters appeared through the rays of the sun that were called ‘Choti Mata’ i.e. Small Goddesses and said that They won’t allow Gorakh Nath to enter the temple. Balak Nath got angry and cursed Them that They will never get together again. Then They told Balak that Gorakh Nath was once cursed by ‘Mata’ as priests or devotees wearing earrings could not come to Her temple but Gorakh Nath still went inside Mata Jwala’s Temple wearing His earrings. The two Small Goddesses then asked Balak that They were protecting the purity of ‘Mata’s’ temple that’s why they stopped Gorakh Nath so why did Balak cursed them? He then said that He Himself was taking Gorakh Nath inside so They should have not stopped Them. Small Goddesses then felt sorry and requested Balak to let the two sisters meet sometime. Balak told Them that They could only meet when the stick of ‘Gunga Pir’ will appear on the full moon night in the rainy season, and then They could meet once in a year. The two Small Goddesses were in the form of ‘Sheetla Mata’ and known as ‘Small Mata’ and ‘Big Mata’.

“Bhrathri Started convincing His Guru”

Bhrathri who was also there greeted His Guru Gorakh Nath and asked to forgive Him for what He was going to tell Him. He said that Gorakh Nath tried a lot to trap Balak but every time Balak was saved because He had His Guru’s blessings with Him. He also made Gorakh Nath free from His curse. Bhrathri was trying to stop Gorakh Nath from doing wrong things to Balak. Then Gorakh Nath said to Bhrathri that in spite of being that in spite of being the greatest follower and student of His with all His blessings and powers still He could not get Balak Nath into His trap. Bhrathri replied that Balak Nath was an incarnation of Lord Shiva than being a normal human child so He could not defeat Him. Bhrathri then again told Gorakh Nath that all the powers of Guru are for meditation or to keep away the difficulties that come in the way of a disciple and not to trap somebody else and not to make them their followers forcefully. But Gorakh Nath refused to all the talks of Bhrathri.

“Sending Other Five Followers By

Gorakh Nath To Balak Nath”

When all the five followers went to Balak Nath, they told Him that they wanted something to eat as they were very hungry. Balak told them that He Himself does not eat or drink anything and asked them what they wanted. They said that if He does not have anything to eat then He should give them something to drink. At the same time, Ratno Maa reached there with Her ‘Roti’ and ‘Lassi’. Balak took the ‘Lassi’ from Her and put it in their bowl and told them to drink it. They said that they will not be satisfied with such a less amount of drink and started drinking it. They could not finish one bowl till the evening as the bowl kept on filling with more and more Lassi due to the blessings of Balak’s Guru as He was remembering Him that time. All the five disciples got irritated and could not handle it anymore so they went back to their Guru with their bowl.

“Visit Of Guru Gorakh Nath To

Balak Nath With All His 360 Followers”

As all of reached Shah Talai, Gorakh Nath saw Balak Nath sitting deep into His meditation with ‘Shesh Naag’ keeping shelter above His head so He could be saved from the bright sun. Then Gorakh Nath called Balak. Balak greeted Him by folding His hands. Gorakh Nath told Him that all of them wanted to have something real pure to eat so if it was possible then He should give them some milk to drink. Balak Nath agreed.

At the same time, a cow with a very small height came there. Balak used to call her Gori cow. He greeted the cow and remembered His Guru. Suddenly, milk automatically started flowing from cow’s breast. Balak Nath told Gorakh Nath and all to fill their bowls with the milk as it started flowing on the ground. Balak told them to have as much as they wanted. All the 360 followers got their stomachs overfilled but the milk did not stop.

The milk tasted so sweet that they kept on drinking it. Gorakh Nath then told His followers that Balak was a super powerful (Sidhh) so they should encircle Him in between of them and should not let them run anywhere. At the same time a bird fell down who was shot by a hunter. After some time the bird died. Meanwhile, Bhrathri was telling some of the followers that as the bird died, on the same time Balak would fly and will disappear because of His Guru’s powers. Gorakh Nath heard the talk. He told Bhrathri to leave His clan and to join Balak Nath as He was not considered to be His follower anymore.

“Bhrathri Left His Guru And Joined Balak Nath Ji”

Bhrathri went to Balak Nath and told Him what all happened to Him. Balak Nath then told Him that He would remain a follower of His Guru Gorakh Nath only but He could sit with Him for meditation. He promised Bhrathri to give Him complete concentration, devotion, Sidhhi (all the powers) and recognition as He had hurt His Guru for Balak’s sake and tried to stop Him from doing bad deeds for Balak. So Balak Nath decided to complete Bhrathri’s devotion as a true devotee in just

Page 55: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

21 days which He could not achieve even in 14 years from Gorakh Nath. Balak Nath said that He Himself would be totally present at the place where Bhrathri would reside. The symbol of Balak Nath’s presence would be the Chimta fixed on the right side of the Dhoona and the followers of Bhrathri would wear 2 Singis, one for Bhrathri Himself and the other one for Balak Nath. ‘Rot’ would also be presented in double for both of Them to complete the wishes of the human beings. Bhrathri was then called as ‘Bhrathri Baba’ rather than being known as The King Bhrathri.

“Stab From The Back By Gorakh”

It was Sunday when Balak Nath left His cattle in a forest and sat under a tree for meditation. At around 11a.m. in the morning, the sun was shining very brightly that Balak Nath got disturbed and could not concentrate. As He opened his eyes, He saw that the fields in front of Him were all empty. After some time He saw that as a cow ate a single leaf of the grass, 10 times of the ground gets empty as if 10 leaves were being eaten. He then thanked Lord Ravi that He showed Him the whole situation and the supernatural trap of Gorakh Nath with His own eyes. Then He thought that the one who stabs someone from behind or by hiding always loses the battle. So He decided that He will not show any of His powers to Gorakh Nath. At that time, Lord Sun came there and blessed Balak Nath with complete devotion by His followers on Sunday in the future.

“Meeting Guru Dattatra”

After Lord Sun left the place, Balak Nath became very sad. He thought that Gorakh Nath showed Him so many of His powers and every time Guru Ji saved Balak Nath from His trap not His own powers. By this He thought that His Guru was still not happy with Him and was feeling very sad about it. Then Guru Ji appeared in front of Him and told Him that now He was going to have His own complete permanent place. He’ll also be called ‘Paunahari’ i.e. the one with the powers of flying in the air and ‘Doodhadhari’ i.e. the one who only drinks milk and do not eat or drink anything else. He has to leave His affection with Shah Talai, the cows and Ratno Maa. This will make Him a complete Yogi. Guru Ji then left the place.

“ Gorakh Nath Arrived With All Of His Followers”

Balak Nath welcomed Gorakh Nath and His followers. Gorakh Nath told His followers to encircle Balak between them. Balak asked for the reason behind doing that. Gorakh then told Him that He was going to wear earrings in Balak’s ears forcefully by which He too will be called Gorakh’s preacher. Balak told Him that He is already a follower of the three divine powers of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesha i.e. Guru Dattatra Ji Maharaj. Gorakh Nath full of temper started piercing His ears with His Chimta. As the Chimta touched Balak Nath’s ears, showers of milk started coming out. Seeing all this, Gorakh decided to directly pierce the ears with the earrings. As He removed the Chimta from the ears, the milk stopped coming out. Again as He started piercing with the earrings, milk started coming out again. Gorakh then told Balak Nath that He could not put the earrings in His ears but Balak have to face a test to be free. If He could pass the test He won’t have to be Gorakh’s follower and if He failed then He will have to wear the earrings and be His follower. Balak then asked Him about the test.

“ Gorakh Threw Mrigshala In The Sky”

(Mrigshala- the skin of a deer on which Gorakh used to sit and meditate )

Gorakh then threw His Mrigshala very high in the sky and told Balak that this time He was not playing from behind His back. This was a face to face challenge and asked Balak Nath that if He had the powers then He will have to place the Mrigshala down. Balak accepted the challenge, folded His hands and prayed to His Guru Ji. Guru Ji then told Him to throw His Chimta in the same direction where Gorakh threw the Mrigshala. He then touched the Chimta with His forehead and threw it upwards. In few minutes, the Chimta started flying higher than the Mrigshala and it became very powerful. One ring of the Chimta got attached to the Mrigshala and it came back down in the feet of Gorakh Nath at once. Gorakh was stunned seeing the act. His followers tried to stop Him as He was failing all the time. Then Gorakh said that if Balak Nath had a Guru Ji, He too have one i.e. Machhandar and His Guru can’t let Him down. Balak then asked Gorakh Nath to give His Chimta back which was standing on the Mrigshala to

Page 57: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

Him as He got His Mrigshala back. Gorakh prayed to His Guru with all of His power but the Chimta did not go back and He told Balak Nath to get His Chimta Himself. Balak Nath again prayed to His Guru and the Chimta itself changed its direction and went back into Balak Nath’s hand. Gorakh got amazed once again.

“Gorakh Called His Ginnie”

Gorakh Nath after observing all His powers upon Balak Nath called His Ginnie. His Guru Ji gave Him the power to keep a Ginnie so that He can never sleep hungry as Ginnie will provide Him with food anytime and anywhere. But Gorakh Nath called Ginnie for another purpose. Ginnie appeared and Gorakh Nath thought that Balak will not be spared now. Gorakh Nath ordered Ginnie to throw Balak up and irritate Him till He agrees to be His follower as Balak has beaten Him up in all the tests. Ginnie then told Gorakh Nath that He could only serve Him with food and drinks and could not do anything else for Him. This task was so big for the Ginnie. Ginnie then told Gorakh Nath that Balak was not just a small kid but was an incarnation of Lord Shiva and Gorakh will have to accept that He was a loser in front of Balak someday. Ginnie then greeted both the Naths and told Gorakh that He has now lost the power to own a Ginnie and blessed Balak Nath by saying that He will be able to control and relieve the evil spirits and ghosts.

“A Fight”

After the Ginnie left, Gorakh told Balak Nath to walk on a path of hot stones and burning coal. Balak when saw that the soil and the stones were looking like hot burning coal, He was holding His Chimta in His left hand. Gorakh quickly told one of His followers to hold Balak’s Chimta before He shifts it to His right hand so that His powers could not work. But Balak heard everything and hold the Chimta in His right hand. Gorakh then took Bhrathri’s Chimta and instead of holding it in His hand touched it with the burning ground by which the hot soil turned into flower petals and stones turned into flowers. Seeing all this Gorakh Nath taunted Balak by saying that now He will make Balak count the free ‘Rotis’ and ‘Lassi’ that He

Page 58: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

had for grazing Ratno Maa’s cows. Balak then put His Chimta from His right hand on the ground and showed Gorakh Nath all Lassi that Maa gave Him to drink from past 12 years and showed Him all the ‘Rotis’ inside a tree cutting from His left hand. Balak told Him that He has served the cows and Ratno Maa free for 12 years and did all this to break the pride of meditating and preaching God of Gorakh Nath. Now His time was going to end then He Himself will leave the place. Meanwhile Ratno Maa came there and Balak said that Maa took 12 minutes to keep Him as a servant for Her. At that time He decided that He will serve Maa for 12 years. Then He told Maa that only 1 or 2 days were left for Him to complete His 12 years there so He will keep on taking the cows to graze and when He will leave, He will let Maa count all Her Rotis that She gave Him to eat in 12 years and will give Her all the Lassi too. Lord Shiva already told Him that He would have to leave His own mother and will have to serve a mother who will feed Him later to complete His meditation and when He will leave that mother then He will have His own place and temple and will be called as a God (Puran Baba) of ‘Kalyuga’.

“Baba Balak Nath Ji Flew Up”

Once again Gorakh Nath was so surprised after listening to Balak Nath and told His followers to encircle Balak so that He could not fly away. Gorakh came to know about His powers and thought if He could fly also. He took out some ash (Bhabhuti) from His bag and threw it towards Balak Nath due to which Balak’s slippers (Pauwein) turned into gold from wood and became heavy. Then Balak thought to throw back the ashes from His body on Gorakh Nath and His followers by which they could freeze on their respective places. Then His inner voice told Him to follow the words of His Guru Ji so He did not fought back.

When Balak Nath did not fought back and then Gorakh Nath told His followers that they will not have anything similar to Balak Nath ever and then tried to hold Balak from His arm. Balak then prayed to His Guru Ji and flew up into the sky.

“Sending A Peacock”

When Balak Nath was flying in the sky, at that time Lord Shiva and Maa Parvathi were returning back to Kailasha Mountain after meeting Karthik. Maa then told Karthik to give Balak His Peacock to ride as She promised Him. Balak Nath sat on the Peacock and followed Lord Shiva and Maa. Lord Shiva then showed Him the Mountains of Dhaulidhar. Gorakh Nath and some of His followers too flew behind Him.

“A Blast In Dhaulidhar Mountain”

As Balak reached near the mountain and the Peacock touched it, Balak shouted and the mountain blasted which made a way for Him and He entered the mountain. Gorakh Nath and His followers were following Him but they could not see Him.

“Searching Balak Nath”

Gorakh Nath tried to find Balak all around the hill but could not see Him anywhere. Then He saw some cracks in the hill and thought that Balak might be inside the hill. He then decided to sit outside the cracked hill with His Dhoona by which Balak would have to come out to feel sorry for what He did. He thought that the cracks and the hill og Dhaulidhar belonged to Nahar Singh so when He will come, Balak Nath will get afraid of Him and will have to come out.

Then He will make Him His follower. Balak Nath actually heard Him when He was coming out from the hill and was returning back to Shah Talai.

“Returning Back To Shah Talai”

After coming back to Shah Talai in the forest of ‘Guruna’ Bushes, Balak came down from His peacock and as per His routine took the cows back to Ratno Maa. He then told Maa that He was not going to take the cows to graze and now He was going to live on the Dhaulidhar Mountain so whenever Maa will miss Him, He will come to meet Her in the form of air under the Bohar. He will come to meet His Gauri cow and rest of them near the Guruna Bushes. He then folded His hands in front of Her. Maa then asked Him that who will be there for Her in the whole world. Balak told Her that Her name would be alive with His name till the world ends and proper fairs will be conducted on this place on His name. whoever will come to Him with any wish to be fulfilled will first bow his/her head to him in Shah Talai where He will be present in the form of air and He will be present in His original form at Guruna Bushes and whoever will wish anything holding the bushes with pure faith, his/her wish will come true.

The one who will sing songs in His praises sitting there or will only attend the Chaunki will be blessed and then could even see Him actually. Balak Nath will always be around them.

When Balak Nath told everything to Ratno Maa, She started crying and asked Him that His reason behind leaving was because Maa taunted Him with Roti and Lassi and He got angry. She then told Him that mothers are used to say such things plenty of times in a day but she did not actually mean them.

Balak then folded His hands and told Maa that according to the time given to Him by Maa to serve Her and by Her blessings, His time to stay was over and due to the blessings of Lord Shiva and His Guru Ji He has to serve the suffering sad people. So He was going to His own permanent place given to Him by the Lords. That place starts from Shah Talai and enters His den. Then Balak Nath greeted Maa sat on His Peacock and went towards His den.

“Guru Machhandar Visited Gorakh Nath”

When plenty of time passed of Gorakh Nath being sitting on His Dhoona, He requested His Guru Machhandar to come there and answer to His questions. His Guru came and He asked Him that in spite of serving Him through all the ways what He actually got. He asked whether He missed out something to worship His Guru. Gorakh Nath then told His Guru that He gave Him the biggest powers and ‘Ridhi-Sidhi’ and told Him that He will never loses so how come such a small kid could defeat Him all the time in spite of trying all the highest powers upon Him. He even holds His Chimta against Balak Nath still was defeated. Then Guru Machhandar told Him that the reason of His defeat was that He was trying His powers on the one from whom He got all the powers. His name is “Om Namah Shivaay”

Now being a kid He would serve the people and will break Gorakh’s pride. Then Guru Machhandar told Gorakh Nath to surrender or to say sorry to Balak Nath. Gorakh then asked that if He would say sorry to Balak Nath then He would feel as a loser so what would be the result of His hard work to serve and preach His Guru. Then Guru Machhandar told Gorakh Nath that He would get His honour after He’ll be sorry and His name will be at the same position otherwise He’ll lose everything. But Gorakh Nath refused to do so. Guru Machhandar then blessed Him and left the place. Gorakh Nath then thought that He could trap Balak Nath by burying Him in cow dung. He was still thinking and Balak Nath due to His Guru’s powers started burying Him in cow dung. Then Gorakh Nath told Him that He was saving Himself by hiding and was now burying Gorakh from behind. Balak Nath then told Him that He was sitting with His Dhoona on the left side of Gorakh Nath’s Dhoona but He has not got those eyes to see Him.

“Conversation Between Gorakh Nath And

Balak Nath”

Gorakh Nath asked Balak Nath where He hid Himself when He flew from Shah Talai. Balak then told Him that when He flew up, He sat on a Peacock and came to the Dhaulidhar Mountains to have His permanent place to meditate God and serve people.

Gorakh Nath said that Balak hid Himself inside the den and when He tried to find Him, He got trapped Himself there and asked Him how this happened. Then Balak Nath told Him that these mountains belong to Veer Nahar Singh and when He collided with the mountain, it got busted and gave Him His place so His form got changed. Now He had to keep His promise given to Veer Nahar Singh so Gorakh could not see anything. Gorakh said that Balak saved Himself by hiding inside the den which was also wrong as then Balak told Gorakh Nath that after He got His place, He went back to Shah Talai and then again rested on the top of the mountain. Balak told Him that He could even check His foot prints there. He even heard His conversation with His Guru Machhandar. Gorakh then said that “You are my Guru and I am Yours”.

Gorakh Nath after realizing Balak Nath’s powers said that people will pray to Balak Nath and will laugh at Him in the future as after hitting so much He was always defeated. He said that He will give His remaining powers to Balak Nath. Balak Nath’s importance will increase day by day and His importance will decrease.

“Gorakh told Balak Nath The

Importance Of Some Things”

Gorakh said that wherever His temple would be Balak’s Chimta would also be placed on the right side of His Dhoona otherwise He will not be present in His temple. All the followers of Gorakh Nath till date place two Chimtas in the Dhoona in two directions. He Himself will have a big Chimta rather than holding a

Page 63: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

small one as Chimta made Him lose two times when He tried to overtake Balak’s powers forcefully.

Once while drinking the cow’s milk and secondly when He tried to put the earrings in Balak Nath’s ears. So His ‘Chimta’ would be longer than 4-5 feet. Instead of one and a half foot ‘Poudhi Vairagan’, He will have three feet long of it. He will not hang a Jholi as Balak Nath Ji does instead He will hang a ‘red coloured bag’. Instead of a ‘Langot’ He and His followers will wear a ‘Dhoti’. Wherever Balak Nath’s Dhoona would be placed, there would be no Dhoona of Gorakh Nath on the same place. Even the ‘Trishula’ will not be less than five feet long. Instead of a ‘Kamandal’ they will have a ‘Khappar’.

“Gorakh Nath Called Bhrathri”

Gorakh Nath told Bhrathri that He was now free from the clan of Gorakh Nath and told Him to be a follower of Balak Nath. He will bless both of them. Bhrathri will meditate Balak Nath but will be called as a follower of Gorakh Nath only. His name will also be called with Balak Nath’s name.

In the temple of Bhrathri, Balak Nath’s Chimta will also be placed in the Dhoona on the right side. His followers too will not wear earrings as Balak Nath’s followers. Those who will wear the earrings would be the followers of Gorakh Nath and those who won’t they would be of Bhrathri’s. Bhrathri’s followers will wear two Singis, one for Bhrathri and another one for Balak Nath. Whosoever would preach Bhrathri, they will have to pray Balak Nath too. One of the temples of Bhrathri is in Ujjain near the city of Indore where His kingdom used to be. Second one is in Diyot Sidhh near the Langar Hall. The third one is in Rajasthan at Gorakh Nath’s place. A fair is conducted on the next day of ‘Ashtami’ i.e. the day of ‘Gunga Navmi’. Balak Nath Ji, Gorakh Nath and Bhrathri along with the other five Pirs and many other Lords are present there on that day. The two elder and younger sisters (Laturi Goddesses) meet each other on this day. People from far and near visit the place on this day. Rot, gudh and wheat sewian, onions and opened threads of Raksha Bandhan are presented in the temple. On this day, ‘Gunga Pir’ came back to His sister after winning a battle.

Page 64: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

On the day of ‘Gunga Navmi’, Rot, Churma, Sewiyan are presented to Gunga Pir and raw milk is presented to Shesh Naag. On this day, all the temples of Gunga Pir conduct fairs. Co-ordinators of the respective temples organize a community lunch with the stuff that they have collected from people and play ‘Doru’. He then plays with the shackles with which ‘Jahri Gunga’ gets happy and people pray to Him to save them from the real owners of the land i.e. snakes and to keep their pockets full of money.

“ Convincing The Owner Of Dhaulidhar Hills”

The owner (Baba) of Dhaulidhars is ‘Veer Nahar Singh’. When Balak Nath took His place by bursting the hill, Veer Nahar Singh came and started to act dangerously with Balak. Then Balak told Him that His own place would be at the last hill of The Dhaulidhars and Veer Nahar Singh will get His place at the very first hill where the water fall begins. Whosoever in the future would be dealing with the problem of the superstitious powers will get well after taking a bath under that waterfall. He is also known as Dhaulidhar’s Baba Vadbhaag Singh. Balak then told Him that a few years back He promised Him that when Balak will get His permanent place to serve human beings, Veer Nahar Singh would be there as a protector of His ‘Flag’ and He will get to eat there only. Then Veer Nahar Singh (The Demon) folded His hands in front of Balak Nath and started doing His duty from that very day.

“Introducing His Den”

Balak Nath’s den was 13 feet long and 7 feet wide from inside. Nobody can imagine any more depth of His den further than this. Still it can be said that it is equal to Shah Talai’s ‘Boharh’. That Boharh is 10 centuries old. There is a place inside the Gufa where His Idol is placed. On the right side of it is placed some of His useful things with a holy spark of fire (Jot) lit besides it. On the left hand side is placed a ‘Trishula’ with His Jholi hanged on top of it. There is placed a red

coloured stone for Balak Nath Ji’s sitting both inside and outside the ‘Gufa’ instead of a red coloured cloth.

His actual idol is placed outside the ‘Gufa’ and a black coloured idol of His is inside the ‘Gufa’ with a holy spark of fire (Chirag) placed on the left side. This black idol is said to be Balak Nath Ji Himself and is made out of black stone. The other idol of His is made of white or colourful stones, cement, etc. he is also known as ‘Dudhadhari’ and ‘Paunahari’ Balak Nath.

“Restrictions On Women To Enter

‘The Holy Gufa’

Women are not allowed to enter the holy place of Balak Nath with their offerings. This does not mean that women do not go to the Gufa. Women do pray and serve Him and Balak Nath does bless them too. Balak Nath once saw in a temple that a woman who knew the idol of Sri Sathya Narayan, still she threw the coin in such a way towards His idol that the coins hit It on the face. From that day Balak Nath decided that at His den women will see Him from far and will never enter His den and men will enter and will see Him from near and will offer the prayers and related things by being at the front of the Gufa.

“Balak Also Called A Pir”

In Balak Nath’s first birth, a neighbour told Him that He should have been born in a family of a butcher rather than in priest’s family as His complexion was dark and also a flying crow threw a bone at Him. In His second birth, when He compromised His family and was leaving to preach God through meditation, a woman told Him that one can never meet The Almighty by leaving one’s parents as society and family is important in life. Balak told Her that He will do whatever He has thought. The woman then told Him that He was much worse than a butcher as He left His parents.

In His third birth, when the relatives told Ratno Maa the lies of the ransacked farms, they told Her that maa has kept a son of a Muslim who was serving Her for free. Then Ratno Maa told them that Balak Nath was a son of a priest. Every time Balak Nath was incarnated in a high culture family still He was being compared with the Muslims and the butchers. So His name used to be included in the Pirs too. As a holy spark of fire from mustard oil (Chirag) is lit for the five Pirs, the same is lit for him too so He was also counted in the Pirs.

“Meeting His Guru In The Last Times”

Balak Nath Ji was now feeling very sad as He could see that whatever a man does either good or bad, people don’t let him do anything. He then requested His Guru Ji to complete his share of meditation and devotion. Guru Ji appeared and told him that His Yatra was complete. He always remembered His Guru Ji in His good and bad times and though achieved success every time with His Guru’s powers. He was now full of ‘Ridhis’ and ‘Sidhis’. Balak Nath then said that He has all the powers with Him and did everything with them because of His Guru’s blessings but He wanted something as powerful which He could see from His own eyes in the coming future. Guru Ji then blessed Him by giving Him one important month of the year which was devoted to Him only and all the Lords, Goddesses, Ridhi-Sidhi and devotees in large numbers will visit Him at His Gufa in this month. Guru Ji Himself would visit His Gufa from ‘Girnaare Mountain’. People will be having faith in Him after 525 years than Gorakh Nath. Guru Ji then left the place. This was the month of April which is also known as ‘Chetra’.

“Powers Of ‘Ridhi’ and ‘Sidhi’ At The Gufa”

The powerful Ridhi-Sidhi come at the Gufa Because of the holy fire spark which is lit inside the Gufa and are seated outside the Gufa. They get attracted by the holy lit spark of ‘Maa’. The big Lords Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh and even the small Ridhi-Sidhis come at the Gufa in their original form mostly in the month of ‘Chetra’. Balak Nath Ji is also present in the Gufa to see the guests and devotees who visit Him.

“Dhoona At The Gufa”

When Balak Nath flew from Shah Talai towards His Gufa, Gorakh Nath and His followers followed Him. They then in ordered to catch Balak lit a Dhoona on the right side of His Gufa and sat there. At that time they heard a voice telling them that if they would have lit the Dhoona on the left side of the Gufa rather than on the right side, then Gorakh Nath might have got the opportunity to be the great follower of His Guru. Gorakh Nath knew that it was Balak Nath’s voice and told Him that He saved Himself by hiding so He can’t bless Gorakh Nath like this. Then again the voice came saying that He doesn’t have the eyes to see Him as Balak was actually sitting on top of His Gufa. So because of this He could never lit His Dhoona on the right side of the Gufa. Balak Nath’s Dhoona will be lit forever from then onwards on the left side and many diseases will be cured from its ashes like if some bad supernatural powers affecting a person increase in meditation, any physical problem. The ashes will be used as a medicine for all this. Neither a woman nor even a small girl should enter Balak’s Dhoona. They can just see it from away.

Not even at Balak Nath’s holy Gufa but at all the other temples of Balak Nath will follow the same rules. If in any case a woman neglects the rules and enters His Gufa or Dhoona, she will be badly cursed. A Black Idol of Balak is placed inside the Dhoona with His ‘Chirag’. A ‘Trishul’ is placed in between His Dhoona and a ‘Chimta’ on the name of Guru Dattatra Ji. A Brass utensil (Kamandal) full of water is placed there. The woods of a Mango Tree(Aam), Banyan Tree(Badh), Holy Basil(Tulsi), Peepal Tree, Beri and Dhak are used to lit The Dhoona.

“Visible Presence Of Balak Nath”

When devotees call Balak Nath in temples or while they are singing rituals for Him, He appears there in the form of wind. He has a Peacock as His rider which was given to Him by Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. He comes there with a black dog. His Guru Dattatra Ji gave Him this power. It is also called as ‘Bage Ki Sawari’.

“Giving Children To Childless

Mothers By Balak”

Women with no child go to the Gufa or temple of Balak Nath Ji and pray to Him very heartedly with full faith in Him; He fulfills their wishes and gives them children. Anybody who thinks can never give birth to a baby they too become parents due to His blessings as His or Maa’s shadows are born to such parents. Those whom Balak Nath gives a child have to present a goat at the Gufa. ‘Langot’, ‘His Flag’, ‘Rot’ and some money is also presented. Until these presents are not presented, Balak Nath has to be there on the heads of the children. This has a bad effect on the children. Theses presents should be given within one year from the day of the birth of the child. Rot, Langot and some money are for Balak Nath Ji and Goat and a Flag is for Veer Nahar Singh. The time a Flag is presented, the same time praises (Jaykara) of Veer Nahar Singh are called because Balak Nath promised Him that people dealing with bad supernatural powers and are disabled would get well by taking bath at His Dhaulidhar and when a goat will be presented, He just have to take it’s smell and could not eat it. As His duty was to save the Flag so people would call His praises. Rest He has to clear His account at the end.

When Balak Nath Ji’s end at the 51st year came, He called His Guru Dattatra Ji by praying Him on His last day of life. He asked His Guru to now clear His accounts of His three births of devotion and meditation and gave Him His fruits accordingly as He wanted to serve the people of Kalyuga. Guru Ji told Him that according to meditation and serving God for 51 years in His 1st birth, He will get nothing for that. Balak then asked Guru Ji the reason to which Guru Ji replied that He once participated with a follower who was criticizing His Guru sitting at Guru’s place so He will get nothing for serving His Lord 51 years due to this mistake.

According to His second birth, He devoted 81 years of His life to His God in serving and meditating Him. Excluding the devotion of 4 years, He will get the fruits for rest of the 77 years. Balak again asked the reason for deducting four years. Guru Ji told Him that Naarad Muni told Him the path to serve Lord Shiva four years later. Balak then told Guru Ji that this should not be counted as His fault because Naarad Muni was wrong this time. Guru Ji then said that devotion reduces if it is not practiced as the way it was told to.

“Fruits For 3 Years to 51 Years Of Devotion”

Guru Ji told Balak Nath that from 3-51 years of His age, devotion of three years has been deducted. Balak again asked the reason. Guru Ji said that when Balak was on His Yatra and reached Shah Talai and met Ratno Maa so whom did He asked to stay there as Her son. Balak said that Maa Herself started the son like relationship with Him He did not do it Himself. Guru Ji said that because of this only, He was stated wrong among the relatives of Ratno Maa and people of the village used to criticize Him. Then after completing His Yatra He had to break His relationship with Maa and had to go to His Gufa. So after 525 years people will have full faith in Him and He will be called as a God. Whatever His age would be either 51 years or 81 years He will remain as a 12 year old boy only. People will see Him in this form only. All the followers of Gorakh Nath will become the followers of Balak Nath. They will build up the temples with ‘The Dhoona’ and will pray Balak Nath.

“Age Of The Banyan Tree”

This Banyan Tree under which Balak used to sit while the cows used to graze is in Shah Talai. This tree is 6 Centuries old and on 26-8-2000. 7th Century has started.

“Discovery Of ‘The Gufa’ of Balak Nath”

Village Chamkoh situated near the Dhaulidhar Mountain is also known as Hamirpur District. There are lots of priests in this village. People used to take their cattle for grazing in the forests. One day a priest named Banarasi Das lost his cattle. He reached the forest while reaching for them. He saw a little spark of fire in the forest. He forgot about his cattle and started moving towards the light. By slipping and falling through the bushes, finally he reached at the place of light. He saw that there was no oil in the Diya still it was burning. The Diya was placed

inside the whole of the Banyan tree. In front of the tree he saw a den in the hill in which a Balak coloured idol was placed.

When he touched the idol he heard a voice saying that He belongs to Diyot. Banarasi Das should start serving this place from that day only. He will take care of his family. Banarasi Das had to be blessed by Balak Nath so he reached this place in search of his cows. The voice then told him that his cows were on the back side of the mountain grazing in the ground. Banarasi Das was on ninth cloud that day. He thought that he found this place because his cows got lost and will serve this place till his last breath. Banarasi Das then folded his hands and bowed in front of the idol, took his cattle and went back home. He then told the whole story to his family and to the rest of the villagers.

“Serving ‘The Gufa’ ”

Banarasi Das then spent a happy night and in the morning took some people with Him to the Gufa. First of all, he washed Balak Nath’s idol with water. Then he put some sandal paste mark (chandan tilak) on the forehead of the idol and presented flowers and fruits. Then he filled the Diya with some oil. Everybody started clearing the bushes and grass around the Gufa. Many days were spent like this. They used to visit the Gufa daily from the same path which later became the permanent path to reach ‘The Gufa’.

“ Publicity Of The Gufa By Banarasi Das”

Banarasi Das used to serve the Gufa from early morning till the evening. At night he used to visit the other villages and tell people about The Gufa and about the Baba of Diyot Sidhh.

“Gareeb Das Visiting The Gufa”

After a lot of publicity done by Banarasi Das, a man named Gareeb Das came to visit ‘The Gufa’. After seeing the place he said that this place belongs to a highly devoted person. Families and their coming generations who will serve this place will have the blessings of Balak Nath Ji. He wanted to know everything about the owner of the Gufa. He wanted to stay there forever and take care of the Gufa but that was not possible as many animals like tiger, leopard, deer, monkey and snakes were there. So he used to go back home in the evening.

“Making Of Path Towards ‘The Gufa’ “

Banarasi Das with the help of some other people started making a path towards ‘The Gufa’. A stair with 11 steps was connected with the hill towards the front side of the Gufa. People used to climb these stairs for their offerings and to see Balak Nath and in the evening they came back down and spent the night at the village.

“Took Care Of ‘The Gufa’ Day And Night”

Banarasi Das and many other people started living near the Gufa and took care of the cleanliness of it. This lead to the publicity of Baba Balak Nath Ji of Diyot Sidhh and people in huge amounts started visiting the place. People used to say that this was the permanent place of Sidhh Baba Balak Nath Ji. Listening to the tales of Balak Nath the publicity moved on till Punjab, Haryana and even in the foreign countries.

“Arrangements For Water”

As the number of people to visit the Gufa increased day by day, the need for a place to live and for water also increased. Then some people arranged for some horses and donkeys that were loaded with water and took it up at the Gufa.

“Increasing Faith In ‘The Gufa’”

People from the surrounding places of The Gufa started experiencing many miracles from then and their wishes started to become true. This publicity reached up to a place named Doaba which is in District Hoshiarpur and people from there also started visiting The Gufa. People also started building small rooms to spend their nights there for themselves and others too. Seeing them, many other people from the surrounding places also started visiting The Gufa. They used to go by walking at The Gufa.

“Inauguration Of The Directorate

Of The Learned Disciples”

As so many people started visiting The Gufa frequently, they started taking Banarasi Das as the most learned devotee as he used to tell the tales of Balak Nath and used to distribute the ‘Prasad’. Gareeb Das with serving The Gufa, also used to serve the people who came to visit The Gufa. The Sangat from Doaba collectively started to make a stone stair instead of a wooden stair that at the entry of The Gufa. When there was a wooden stair before, a lady came there with her five year old child. She was carrying Rot Prasad in her hands. She started climbing up the stairs. Gareeb Das told her to handle over him the Prasad and her child so that he could take him up at The Gufa for the offerings. But the woman denied and climbed five stairs. Then Banarasi Das called her to stop

Page 73: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

where she was. The woman said that everybody offer their prayers and other things upstairs so she also wanted to go upstairs as Balak Nath went to her house and ate a Rot .Now she wanted to offer Rot with her hands to Balak Nath. Banarasi Das told her that was not possible as The Gufa was very pure and holy and the stairs on which she was standing suddenly broke.

“Inauguration Of The Sarais”

Banarasi Das then promised that with the permission of Balak Nath Ji, they will make a place for women too so that they too could see Balak’s Gufa. Then Banarasi Das died after some days. Gareeb Das continued to serve The Gufa and the people. Now somebody had to take the place as the directorate. So, Shiv Giri, son of the teacher of village Chamkoh was given this opportunity in 1975.

After he got the directorate, he made tough stone stairs for The Gufa. Instead of mud rooms, he built stone and brick rooms as Sarai. He also built up water tanks in village Chamkoh which started supplying water to The Gufa. Lakhs of rupees got spent. All the money which devotees used to offer at The Gufa belonged to the family of Banarasi Das. But Shiv Giri Ji used to keep 1% for his family and best of it was used for the maintenance of the Gufa. Slowly, they also started conducting community meals. Near the hall of community meals, a special place for Banarasi Das was built up. A temple for Lord Shiva was also built up. Also temples for Bhrathri and the three immortal great powers were built up. There are 2-3 rooms besides the temple. Shiv Giri Ji lives in those rooms only. Nobody can meet him without his permission.

“Government Took The Responsibilities

Of The Gufa”

As the government took the responsibility of The Gufa, first of all they made The Gufa, Dhoona and the stairs tough by putting up stones on them. Then they built up a place for women from where they could see Balak Nath’s Gufa. They stand there with open hands and fulfill their wishes. Water pipes were laid all through the starting till the end of the hill. Bathrooms and toilets were also built up. People from Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Hoshiarpur and Patiala have contributed in making up the Sarais which is now a big facility for the high number of visitors. The hall to conduct community meals is also built up by the government. Tea is also served with the meals.

Some permanent servants are kept to look after the offerings made to Balak Nath Ji and for The Gufa by which the total amount is calculated. These offerings include gold, silver, foreign currencies, clothes and utensils. Money collected from these offerings is used for the maintenance and beautification of The Gufa like making up some gardens, VIP rooms, brick and stone Sarais, etc. They also lend blankets to those who require them to spend the nights. The villages near The Gufa have all the facilities of hospital, school, colleges, library and a permanent bus stand. Bus stand is a huge facility for the devotees now.

“Conducting Fairs At The Gufa”

From many past Centuries, only the fair or Chala of Chetra was famous on The Gufa. But nowadays a huge number of people are always gathered there. Much more devotees visit The Gufa in the month of Chetra. Many foreigners visit The Gufa too to see Balak Nath. Firstly, a temple of Balak Nath Ji out of the country was inaugurated in England. Now there are His temples in England, Australia, New Zealand and America. They even conduct the community meals and attend the Kirtans. All the Indians who built up the temples of Balak Nath Ji outside India are from Jallandhar, Hoshiarpur, Delhi, Chandigarh and Amritsar.

Page 75: About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj”gurudhyan.com/ENG_MATTER.pdf · About The Writer “Sri Sri 1008 Guru Yashpal Ji Maharaj” “I was born in a village named

A fair is also conducted every month on the ‘Jetha’ Sunday at The Gufa. Not only there is a temple of Balak Nath at The Gufa but also at many other places. They conduct ceremonies in which everybody gathers and sings praises and songs (Chaunki) devoted to Balak Nath Ji on every Sunday. Many of these temples also conduct community meals after The Chaunki. With this, the publicity and faith in Balak Nath Ji has increased a lot.

“Complete Lord Of Kalyuga”

As the Satyuga, Dwaapar and Tretha ended, Kalyuga started. To stop the effect of Kalyuga, Lord Shiva meditated and prayed a lot so that the humans could suffer the least pain very slowly. Lord Shiva then sent a complete Lord of Kalyuga to be reliable upon the hopes of the sad, suffering people and to make them happy.

So many temples for Him were built up through which the bad times of the Kalyuga people have started cutting short.

To spread more faith, the learned disciples (Sant Mahatma) and Guru Gaddi came into being. These Gurus started telling the ways to pray, meditate, chant hymns and to how to keep full faith in Balak Nath Ji. With this people started making His temples and idols inside their houses and prayed Him there. In hilly areas, a stone idol is made and is inaugurated in the open fields. This idol is worshipped as Sidhh Patke. Whoever has a wish or a good occasion; people visit his place by beating drums, taking Rot, Flag, fruits, clothes and money to offer with them by burning Dhup and a holy spark of fire (Jot). They sing praises of Balak Nath and go to his place like this to wish him.

The one whose wishes are fulfilled have to offer Rot Prasad with some money. With this Balak Nath Ji forgives people for their sins and mistakes and protects them from the bad. Now BABA BALAK NATH JI is known in the whole world.
